Re: [Bug 1080591] Re: shotwell fails to authenticate with non-primary address
Lucas Beeler 1080...@bugs.launchpad.net writes: Are you using the Ubuntu Online Accounts control panel to set up your Google account or are you configuring it directly in Shotwell? The latter, but it is hard to tell, since it is all `not mere web links, but solid code immersed into the desktop'. I think I saw a popup window which looked like a web page asking for Google authentication at one point, similar to the picture in: http://www.iloveubuntu.net/online-accounts-landed-ubuntu-1210-default I guess I am using UOA, I tried to delete the authorization info I could find in the gconf.xml files under .shotwell, but it didn't seem to change anything. I'll try to hunt and destroy any UOA stuff. Note that since you're running Quantal, unless you built and installed Shotwell from source, the default build of Shotwell that comes with Quantal has been patched downstream to use the Ubuntu Online Accounts system for Google authentication. Hence, this could be a bug either with Shotwell or with Ubuntu Online Accounts. Right, thanks. I really wish people would stop the immersing thing, it just confuses things and makes them more complex and fragile. -k -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to shotwell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1080591 Title: shotwell fails to authenticate with non-primary address To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/shotwell/+bug/1080591/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1040244] Re: Couldn't add bookmarks to the sidebar
The feature was disabled by upstream because it was hard to make the distinction between dnd to the sidebar to add a bookmark or dnd to the sidebar to copy into a bookmark already listed, they decided that you can add a bookmark through the menus and keybindings since that's the less frequent action and that dnd will do the copy to the bookmarked location (which is likely to happen more often) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1040244 Title: Couldn't add bookmarks to the sidebar To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1040244/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 36413] Re: Drag-drop column ordering
Comment from the developer: The basic idea is pretty simple. The track list GtkTreeView will emit the columns-changed signal when the user reorders columns, at which point you could extract the column order and write it to GSettings. After constructing the track list (possibly in rb_source_bind_settings), you could rearrange the columns using gtk_tree_view_move_column_after to match the settings. When the value in GSettings changes, repeat that process. Making it behave sanely is another matter. If you only have one setting for column order that applies to all sources (which makes sense since the settings for column visibility apply to all sources), it needs to deal with sources that have different sets of columns. I haven't thought too much about how this would work. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/36413 Title: Drag-drop column ordering To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/36413/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1077696] Re: mounted samba share stops working for file access
I've seen this problem on a fresh install of 12.10. It doesn't happen often but when it does its impossible for me to kill vlc or unmount the share, I have to log out and back in. I've found a good workaround to avoid the bug completely though (this work around also fixes a separate problem with vlc, where videos played from mounted smb shares do not respect VLC's network buffer setting, because vlc treats videos opened via gvfs as local files). Instead of double clicking the video in nautilus, drag and drop the video into vlc. Doing this uses vlc's inbuilt smb access module instead of gvfs. Note: for this to work you probably need to go into vlc's settings and fill in your smb username and password (tools preferences all input and codecs access modules SMB) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1077696 Title: mounted samba share stops working for file access To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/1077696/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 304345] Re: File chooser dialog doesn't provide network access
Re: Sebastien and Gary Yes, the problem is application-specific. Core GNOME applications like GEdit and Evince include mounted network shares in the Volumes list. Other applications like Firefox do not. From what I understand about GtkFileChooser, this functionality has to be added explicitly because it requires GIO. The default GtkFileChooserDialog does not display network shares. The other, related, problem mentioned by Mossroy is that bookmarked, but unmounted, network shares don't show up in any application except Nautilus. If you inspect the ~/.gtk-bookmarks file, you can see entries like smb://server/share in the file, but only Nautilus recognizes these URIs. On 12.04, GEdit and Evince also recognized them and displayed them with the other bookmarks (Documents, Downloads, etc), but Firefox did not. [Bug 304345] Re: File chooser dialog doesn't provide network access
@Sebastien Yes, gtk3 is new, but it is hard to say if the problem is with gtk+ or the way the applications themselves are implementing GtkFileChooserDialog. On the latest Ubuntu 12.10, there is a mix of gtk3 (GEdit, Evince, Nautilus) and gtk2 (Firefox, LibreOffice, GIMP, Inkscape, Gnumeric) applications, and the behavior is mostly the same. [Bug 304345] Re: File chooser dialog doesn't provide network access
@Sebastien Yes you are right the applications that are not displaying mounts are using local only mode (which is the default) this is because they do not rely on the GIO backend and cannot be assumed to handle all the different network protocols. What my patch is about however is enabling FUSE mounts were available even when in local only mode as FUSE mounts provide network locations via a local path. [Bug 1081297] [NEW] metacity crashes and xinerama reconfigures screens
Public bug reported: I have regular flickering screens (xinerama re-initialises them) in a dual-screen setup under gnome-2d, as can be seen in .xsession-errors and Xorg.0.log. Sometimes metacity crashes then, as it was the case recently, when I had verbose logging-mode on. Last 1000 lines of the log before the crash are here: http://paste.ubuntu.com/1373239/ Line 764 looks to me like the reconfiguration due to a 'flicker'. Console output of metacity (started from there with METACITY_VERBOSE=1 METACITY_USE_LOGFILE=1 metacity --replace) metacity:ERROR:core/boxes.c:1165:meta_rectangle_edge_aligns: code should not be reached and there is /var/crash/_usr_bin_metacity.1000.crash which I will attach. I do not know, if the two problems are really related (metacity crash, xinerama re-init), but it looked like (happened at the same time). Any debugging hints to find the reason for the xinerama re-init are welcome. Sometimes it is impossible to work due to high frequency of re-inits.
