[Bug 1072693] Re: Empathy does not connect accounts, Facebook, Google, Outlook

2012-11-27 Thread Lukasz Grzesik
Hello again. I don't know where is a bug. But in my case problem problem
was hidden in a /home. Empathy or Ubuntu Online Accounts was wrong saved
a settings in /home. In my case delete configuration was worked right,
but we must check a UOA (ubuntu online accounts) for bug in here. If I
remember correctly this operation (delete config) can reset a icons
settings to default. I delete a empathy config from .local, .share, and
completly delete .gconf (for fixed other problem) from /home. I delete a
folder enthusiastically for fix a another system problem and Empathy can
repaired by the way.

2012-11-27 Thread stepankk
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 992706 ***

Turned out, that the problem comes from using different keyboard
layouts: shortcuts with letters work only in English layout, but not
Cyrillic one, so this bug looks like a duplicate of

[Bug 1083497] [NEW] Empathy doesn't detect online accounts

2012-11-27 Thread Romuald
Public bug reported:

My professionnal PC was first installed with Ubuntu 12.04 64. Then, I
setup the system to connect my active directory server. Done.

In this configuration, I've had some issues with Empathy, each time I
rebooted the PC, I had to setup all my IM account (Google MSN). It was
boring, but it worked.

Some days ago, I upgraded the PC to 12.10. The upgrade worked smoothly,
and didn't degrade the AD integration.

I entered my online accounts in the dedicated applet. But now, Empathy
doesn't work at all. The Empathy window shows You need to setup an
account to see contacts here with the Account settings button.

If I click this button, I see all the accounts I previously setup. For
each IM account, beside the account Empathy section, I see an Options
button, if I click it, I get an empty window with just 2 buttons
Cancel Done.

2012-11-27 Thread Paddy Landau
Further comments in bug #728700 led me to searching Google.

It appears that LightDM may be a red herring for this problem.

It seems to be (as far as I can tell — I may be wrong) that this is
caused by glib when cancelling a file being copied, as per comment #60
and others.

[Bug 1072693] Re: Empathy does not connect accounts, Facebook, Google, Outlook

2012-11-27 Thread Steffen Sindzinski
For me it started to work partly yesterday. Because I did a lot of
stuff, I cannot say why. First I tried out the gnome3 PPA. To uninstall
this I had to reinstall ubuntu-desktop. This seemed not to solve the
problem. I also read about an time server problem which would cause that
gnome-online-accounts could not resolve all related hosts. I updated the
system time. Furthermore there have been some related updates. In the
end, gnome-online-accounts (Ubuntu) were able to connect to all (gtalk,
hotmail, facebook). But now my google calendar in thunderbird
disappeared and Thunderbird is asking always for a password, which it
did not before. Now I switched back to Evolution, there now the
addresses are working.

[Bug 322314] Re: Automatically connect on startup setting confusing - users may expect this to run Empathy on login

2012-11-27 Thread Damien
So almost three years after the initial bug report, 75 people concerned,
what is the current status? Does it really take that long to change a
sentence in a software?

And to add the other option of really connect on startup (=session
launch), other users have rightfully pointed that it would be trivial to
implement. What gives? Yup there are concerns about privacy and whatnot,
but just set it to false by default and problem solved.

[Bug 501426] Re: When printing a calendar, the font size is too small

2012-11-27 Thread Michael Hendry
This bug is still present in the most recent version of Evolution listed
in the Ubuntu Software Centre (3.2.3) on my 12.04 system.

Is there a more recent version available?

There are also a number of other bugs/faults relating to the printing of
calendars:

1. Although the week starts on Monday on-screen, it starts on Sunday on the
print-out (or Saturday/Sunday if Compress weekends in month view is ticked).
2. There is no day-of-the-week heading on the printout (especially necessary
because of 1.).
3. The top couple of lines are lost in the printer's top margin, so it's not
possible to see which month is being printed.

[Bug 1075923] Re: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share

2012-11-27 Thread Danilo Reinhardt
I have this problem since updating the client to 12.10. On large copies
from an 12.04 Server over samba mounted using gvfs (nautilus). I tried
nautilus itself, rsync and cp. All of them stop working after around
100-600MB. The curious thing is, i tried to copy images/videos from an
iphone with just the same problem. After 100-600MB nautilus stops
copying.

Because of this i think it isnt related to smb only. I have to restart
the whole client to start the copy again because the copy process gets
zombies after a kill. There is no log entry, no dmesg output related to
this error on client or server.

You are using manually cifs mount or nautilus?

[Bug 1083636] [NEW] Apply System Wide Settings Button not shown on Network Proxy

2012-11-27 Thread Sandesh Jagdale
Public bug reported:

The 'Apply System Wide Settings' button has stopped showing up on the
'Network Proxy' tab of Network panel in Gnome Control Center, thus not
allowing to set the proxy settings system wide. In absence of this
button, the Network Proxy applied is not getting applied to the 'Shell'
based programs such as 'apt-get' etc.

Earlier, after changing the proxy settings and clicking on 'Apply System
Wide' button and entering 'sudo' passwords, the setting use to get
applied for shell based programs as well. Currently that is not the
case.

Please note I tested it with user having 'sudo' rights.

[Bug 1083644] Re: Palimpsest does not support gparted GPT

2012-11-27 Thread Redsandro
Just noticed: When you remove all partitions in gparted, the partition
table is still GPT. But according to Disk Utility, there is no partition
table. Looks like GPT is not recognized even though there is mention of
having GPT knowledge in the above error message.

All the files in /var/log/installer/ have a timestamp of Aug 1, so I
guess that's when I did my clean install of Precise?

I have no idea when I moved these files. It seems my issue has been
improved -- the files are now 0 bytes.

[Bug 1070377] Re: Empathy change to Online Accounts no longer supports SIPE

2012-11-27 Thread Ondrej Kubik
Upgraded from 12.04 where I was using sipe pluging, my account kept working
after upgrade, though I could not actually see it in my online accounts.
I had to change sipe account's password, so now I'm buggered, since there is no
way I can update my account settings.

It's definitely bug. My existing account turned after upgrade to 12.10
into zombie, can't delete it, can't update it, it's just there nagging
about wrong credentials

[Bug 451613] Re: all disks and partitions are automounted in the live session

2012-11-27 Thread Yuan Chao
On 12.10, the live session also mounts all my harddisk partitions. (disk
icons show up on the unity left panel) As the ext4 partitions are still
mounted in a hibernated session, the mounting caused file system error
after resuming and failed to boot. (recover mode fails too) I would
suggest that this kind of behavior in live session should be done in
read only mode if it's really needed. Same for hibernated windows
partitions.

[Bug 1083805] [NEW] Information message truncated

The exact string can be found at :

[Bug 1083811] [NEW] Duplicated panels using separate x screens

2012-11-27 Thread Alberts Muktupāvels
Public bug reported:

I'm trying to use separate x screens on nvidia card with 3 monitors. I'm
expecting one top panel + one bottom panel on each screen, but instead i
have got all panels on one screen.

Restarting gnome panel (gnome-panel --replace) it will create two extra
(blank) panel pairs on same screen, but new applets will be added on
first panel pair. Screenshot ilustrating problem can be found here -
http://askubuntu.com/questions/177226/duplicated-menu-panel-indicators-
and-taskbar

I tried to manualy set screen key (org-gnome-gnome-
panel-layout-toplevels-top-panel-screen) on wich screen panel should
appear with dconf Editor. But restarting gnome-panel that key will be
reseted.

Downloaded gnome-panel source code (apt-get source gnome-panel), spend
some time trying to find problem, and probably i found it in file panel-
toplevel.c.

Line 4458: if (!screen || GDK_IS_SCREEN (screen))
Line 4459: screen = gdk_screen_get_default ();

These lines are responsible for resetting screen key. It will reset
screen to default if currenct screen exist, but its not what we want. We
want reset screen to default if screen dosnt exist, so line 4458 should
be -  if (!screen || !GDK_IS_SCREEN (screen))

After compiling and installing new package, gnome panel works as
expected. I dont now how to make and submit patch, so someone with more
knowledge could do it.

by ??.

[Bug 1076716] Re: Extract Here fails to preserve timestamps (non-empty folders)

2012-11-27 Thread Ernie 07
When an archive is decompressed, original folder/file date-time stamps should
be preserved.
Current behavior sets them to the date-time of extraction.

Perhaps this bug being ignored because it only effects serious users;
coupled with a strong perception that Ubuntu is only being used to
facilitate entertainment (facebook, streaming video, etc.) of non-
serious users.

I would like to move from an older version of Ubuntu, where archiving
works correctly, and take advantage of some of the improvements within
Ubuntu 12.10 but I cannot move to a newer version whether 12.10 or
13.04, if archiving remains horribly broken.

[Bug 1046118] Re: screen powers down after 10 minutes regardless of what Brightness and Lock settings used.

2012-11-27 Thread Tim
** Description changed:

+ [IMPACT]
+ * Regardless of settings in the Brightness and Lock Panel, screen will
power off after 10mins.
+
+ As part of the new lock-screen in gnome-shell 3.6 (when running on gdm),
+ a watchdog timer, that disables the builtin X screensaver was moved into
+ gnome-settings-daemon 3.6. Previously this was in gnome-screensaver
+ however that is no longer used with gnome-shell/gdm combination.
+
+ Since Quantal is still using gnome-settings-daemon 3.4, currently we are
+ missing the watchdog timer for gnome-shell session on gdm.
+
+ [Test case]
+ 1. Run gnome-shell from gdm.
+ 2. Set Turn screen Off in Brightness/lock panel to Never
+ 3. Wait 10mins and the screen will turn off.
+
+ [Workaround]
+ Install gnome-settings-daemon 3.6 from gnome3-team ppa.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ The code in this patch was copied from gnome-screensaver into
gnome-settings-daemon, so should not cause any problems. However when running a
session that uses gnome-screensaver (Unity, gnome-shell on Lightdm), this
watchdog timer will be duplicated. This is probably harmless but it might be
best to patch it out gnome-screensaver.

[Bug 969359] Re: [keyboard]: gnome-settings-daemon consumes 100% cpu (and blinking numlock)

2012-11-27 Thread Steve Langasek
Hello James, or anyone else affected,

Accepted gnome-settings-daemon into precise-proposed. The package will
build now and be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-
settings-daemon/3.4.2-0ubuntu0.6 in a few hours, and then in the
-proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please change the bug tag from
verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not, change the
tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing
will help us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 596193] Re: file-roller doesn't handle zip archives containing accentued characters correctly

2012-11-27 Thread Ma Xiaojun
As I studied this issue a little bit, I'd give a brief summary here.
There are Unicode enabled and non-Unicode enabled ZIP archives.

If you system has unzip/zip but not 7z, neither type of ZIP archives can be
displayed in File Roller. This due to limitation of unzip.
If you system has 7z, File Roller can correctly display Unicode enabled ZIP
archives.

For non-Unicode enabled ZIP archives, you can handle them with lsar/unar
(included since 12.04), which supports encoding conversion natively.

[Bug 1077696] Re: mounted samba share stops working for file access

2012-11-27 Thread Solomoriah
I'm experiencing this with a new install. Lubuntu 12.10, fully updated,
64 bit.  Seems to happen any time a large amount of data is copied;
generally, it copies one whole file, maybe two, then hangs up. I've
even tested with a gvfs-smb mount using cp from the command line, same
results, the cp becomes unkillable after a file or two.

[Bug 1083694] Re: crash/hang when submiting review updates

2012-11-27 Thread Martin Pitt
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1078297 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1078297

Sorry Michael for the duplicate work. I already uploaded an SRU for this
two weeks ago, but it's still hanging in the SRU review queue. I
rejected your's and will make this a duplicate.

[Bug 1078297] Re: Crashes with GLib.child_watch_add

2012-11-27 Thread Martin Pitt
** Description changed:

In a complex application, I'm seeing crashes when the destroy notify of
  GLib.child_watch_add is called.

  at /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.34.0/./glib/gmain.c:2739

The problem has been fixed upstream

http://git.gnome.org/browse/pygobject/commit/?h=pygobject-3-4id=a06e0d021d74c95cd517abb3e6ef5ff0037de679

REGRESSION POTENTIAL: Very low. This just adds locking around the
reference handling to avoid race conditions with concurrent access.
pyglib_gil_state_{ensure,release}() is used all over the place in
pygobject, but it was forgotten in this particular function.

SRU TEST CASE: This is rather hard to reproduce, as it is a race
condition in a multi-threaded program. As Daniel can reproduce it rather
well, I suggest to ask him to verify the SRU.
+
+ Michael Vogt proposed a test case:
+ - open software-center
+ - go to a app with reviews
+ - click on useful: YES
+ - verify that it takes a long time

[Bug 1072406] Re: /usr/lib/evolution/evolution-calendar-factory consume 99% cpu

2012-11-27 Thread Jason Robinson
Same here, noticed a few times that fan is very loud and happened to
notice lightdm owned process evolution-calendar-factory was causing it.
Killing it brings cpu usage down.
