First of all we need to touch almost all the layers to have this working, so if somebody is brave enough to make it here are the steps: 1) Get the size of a tab \t from the gtktextlayout.c. For this we can either check if there is a way to get it from the pango layout or we could as well move the tab-width property from GtkSourceView to GtkTextView. 2) From the gtktextlayout.c we need to detect the indentation of the paragraph, counting the number of tabs and get the size in a pango scale. 3) For that layout we need to set the indentation level for the wrapped text. For this we can already do it by setting a negative value to the pango layout indent value (i.e set_indent(-20)). Although I think the right thing to do here is to set a new set/get_indent_wrapped_text, which will do the same as the indent value but just for the wrapped text. 4) We need to add a setting into gedit, either in the preferences dialog or at this point it could be easily done with a plugin. (A setting in the dialog I think it would be better though). Sebastien, I haven't used nautilus for a couple of years now - I'm using thunar on xubuntu. However, I do remember that I first hit the issue when I had a folder full of shortcuts (one for each of the servers that we deal with regularly) that launched nautilus from the command line, such as: nautilus smb://MYDOMAIN;administrator@1.2.3.4/D$ I don't remember if they were .desktop launchers or just one-line scripts, but I suspect they were just simple scripts. Failing to fill in the username and domain fields in the password popup from the url defeated the point of having different scripts for each server. Regards, Steve Horsley. [Bug 1086806] [NEW] Rhythmbox encoder missing plugin
Public bug reported: I am on Ubuntu 12.10, upgraded from 12.04. Dell Inspirion 17R with 2GB RAM. Rhythmbox works just fine or so I thought until today. I was attempting to rip a CD and put it in Ogg Vorbis format. When I clicked on EXTRACT, I got a dialog window telling me that Additional software is required to encode media in your preferred format: Vorbis encoder When I click on Install to get the plugin, it searches for it and says Python (v2.7) requires to install plugins to create media files of the following type: Vorbis encoder then says Required plugin could not be found Same thing with MP3 except there finds a plugin but that is only for I386 and not for x64 so I can not isntall either. I can actually not encode any music in any format. I can play any music in any format (tried Ogg and MP3) and that works just fine without a problem. Can not rip CDs at the moment as the encoding does not work as above. It is probably since upgrade from 12.04 as on 12.04 it was working. I have not used this for some time and just tried to do it today with the above fail. It is reproducible every time for me. Tried manually installing packages to handle that without success. Let me know if more data is needed. On-The-Fly burning using K3B works quite well @8x speed. One thing I also notice is, that Brasero uses 100% CPU on one core, while K3B uses just about 5-15%. I attached the last Brasero log. I don't know, why it just says, that it was only at 49% and then says it's finished. The burning took about 28 minutes. The media was unusable on all my three devices (Linux/Windows). Hi, today I see this new automatic update on my Ubuntu 12.04 x64 and was curiour reading the bug report because of a similar problem. I'm not sure, if my problem, some few days ago , has to do with the same cause. It was the first time I ever used my Ubuntu to burn a DVD, so all settings should have been default. Description: As source I used the downloaded ISO of PartedMagic from 2012_11_30. I simply opened this with Brasero to start burning on a DVD-RW, which first had to be erased. After some time I saw 100% complete and something like finalizing the media and I continuously recognized mechanical movements from the readers head. As after 5..10 min. nothing changed, I clicked Abort. Then shortly I saw something with successful, but I was unsure, if it was caused by my click or if it had happened anyway. After, the disk was unreadable, even from Windows 7. But I anyway tried to boot from it to start PartedMagic, but it didn't work. Please think about, if this covers the same bug or if it is a different problem. Hi, As source I used the downloaded ISO of PartedMagic from 2012_11_30. I simply opened this with Brasero to start burning on a DVD-RW, which first had to be erased. The bug that was fixed here did not affect burning of prepared ISO images, but only composition of ISO images from hard disk files and burning them to media without storing the images ntermediately on hard disk. So your problem is probably something different. After some time I saw 100% complete and something like finalizing the media and I continuously recognized mechanical movements from the readers head. Unformatted DVD-RW get filled up to at least one full GB when they get closed. The image pmagic_2012_11_30.iso has only 274 MB. But 5 to 10 minutes for padding 750 MB would mean only 1x write speed. Then shortly I saw something with successful, but I was unsure, if it was caused by my click or if it had happened anyway. If the drive's activity was still about closing the medium then you would have few chance to interrupt it. Only power-off would do. But if Brasero was attempting to read an unreadable medium, then it might have been your Abort which ended the torture. I'm wondering why Brasero doesn't have a After burning check the content option. I would not be astonished if the strange behavior happened in the course of a verification attempt. To my knowledge it would use readcd. (I am not a regular Brasero user.) --- What happens if you use one of my programs for burning the image ? They are based on libburn like Brasero is by default, but elsewise they do not share code with Brasero. Under the assumption that your burner has the address /dev/sr0 and that a DVD-RW is inserted: xorriso -as cdrecord -v dev=/dev/sr0 blank=deformat_quickest \ -eject pmagic_2012_11_30.iso On a 4x DVD-RW, extra fast blanking lasts about 30 seconds. Writing then shows about 30 seconds of zero progress. Then i get progress messages about 4x write speed. After about 50 further seconds i get a long time of messages xorriso : UPDATE : 274 of 274 MB written (fifo 0%) [buf 99%] 0.0x. with steady burn noise. No head movements to hear. The burn run ends after a total of 264 seconds. A checkread based on the medium's block checksums (DVD ECC) can be done by: xorriso -indev /dev/sr0 -check_media -- -eject all should yield Media current: DVD-RW sequential recording Media status : is written , is closed Boot record : El Torito , ISOLINUX isohybrid MBR pointing to boot image Media summary: 1 session, 140438 data blocks, 274m data, 0 free Volume id: 'Parted Magic' xorriso : UPDATE : 32 blocks read in 5 seconds , 0.0xD xorriso : UPDATE : 1792 blocks read in 6 seconds , 2.6xD ... xorriso : UPDATE : 140438 blocks read in 96 seconds = 2.2xD Hope for no messages like this libburn : SORRY : SCSI error on read_10(16064,32): [3 11 05] Medium error. L-EC uncorrectable error. If they come frequently and progress is slow, then abort by Ctrl+C. libburn gets such messages from the drive if the ECC redundancy does not suffice to obtain a credible data block. A readable medium should yield at the end: Media checks :lba , size , quality Media region : 0 , 140438 , + good I could burn successfully with Windows 7 right after. Was this with the same DVD-RW medium and the same burner ? Well, i just made two tests with above command. The first one really yielded above SCSI error. In the second write-and-check test, no read errors occured. DVD-RW are somewhat adventurous media. I prefer to format them: xorriso -outdev /dev/sr0 -format as_needed -eject all and to use no blank=deformat_quickest when writing to them. As its name says, that option would deformat the medium. The newer version is poorly implemented. You hide the options for testing under buttons with pop up menus. Ever wonder why these aren't in have use (pop up menus from button clicks)? It's because they are confusing and non-intuitive. Additionally you should the progress bar for the tests on the window behind the one where the test is done and that window is dimmed. I'm using Ubuntu 12.10. Server side SAMBA configuration: I have following line in smb.conf: include = /etc/samba/smb.conf.%U This means that samba will include additional config files for each user like this: /etc/samba/smb.conf.username with additional shares visible only to this user. On client (Ubuntu 12.10): 1) First of all i delete all saved passwords using Passwords and Keys (seahorse) to start from clean state. 2) ctrl-L and enter smb://username@hostname There is no password prompt dialog. After this i see only shares configured to be visible to all users (even unauthenticated). Of course i can enter path to share manually: smb://username@hostname/share, but this is another story. Expected behavior: Password prompt is displayed. Hello Benjamin Drung, Attached is one of the files giving me this problem. /I ended up doing it the old fashioned way :-) //unrar x Ken\ Follett\ -\ Na\ Toca\ do\ Leão.rar/ But we use these characters a lot in Portugal so most of the filenames have this. Public bug reported: I have RB 2.98 on my 32 bit Precise install (fresh install from CD). After painstakingly correcting the ARTIST sort order for a decent number of entries in the library, rhythmbox decides to throw that corrected sort order OUT! It will be correct, until I quit rhythmbox. Once I re-open rhythmbox, it goes back to what it was before. All of that time WASTED. For example, Alicia Keys should be sorted as 'Keys, Alicia', putting her in with all of the other K's; but, for some tracks, rhythmbox insists that the sort order MUST be Alicia Keys, not Keys, Alicia. So what gives I do not believe that it is a case of permissions, as I have rw permissions on all files. They type of file (flac or mp3) does not affect this, as it occurs to BOTH. BTW, I just checked one of the corrected' entries. Where Keys, Alicia was supposed to be, it was BLANK! I can extract that example file without problems (it just contains a ã, but no ~ or ç). I use Ubuntu 12.10 and have unar installed. Which Ubuntu version do you use? The problem happens because this is done by root, usually not able to write over nfs shares. The problem disappears if home directories are exported with no_root_squash option.
