[Bug 1088620] Re: heavy memory leak in gnome-mahjongg 3.6.0.2 - LinuxMint Nadia 64bit
Here are some further observations: I was wrong in assuming, that memory consumption starts at about 5Mib/sec, actually it starts very slow and multiplies with every new started game. After 10 minutes or so, it already has claimed 2 GiB of RAM, after about 30 minutes it has filled all RAM and 10GiB of swap space. So it seems that there is some subroutine which doesn't get killed after restarting, but gets copied every time the game is restarted, and then all the multiplied instances speed up the consumtion process. I just don't know, how to pin down the component, since I wouldn't understand the source codes etc. Some time ago I ran some valgrind-sessions, maybe this could help gathering data? Any suggestions? [Bug 1089024] [NEW] Evolution Slow Checking and Displaying Emails
Public bug reported: Since upgrading to 12.10 Quantal and Evolution 3.6.0 Evolution has become painfully slow. It seems to check email itself fine, but if I manually select Send and Receive it hangs uses 100% CPU and has to be killed. It also seems to update the search folders on every launch (which again takes ages and uses 100% CPU) and when switching folders or displaying emails (be it plain text or HTML) it also hangs uses 100% CPU and take several minutes saying 'Retrieving message 37377347 before displaying the chosen email. Needless to say, this is making Evolution pretty much unusable. A 3-4 minute wait just to view my Inbox after viewing another folder is irritating to say the least. [Bug 681348] Re: Build show me the desktop mini-app that adds a show desktop button to Launcher
** Description changed: Keyboard shortcut to minimise all windows required. Description: Ubuntu used to have a button on the bottom left corner of the screen that minimised all windows. This button was equivalent to a button that used to exist in MS Windows prior to the advent of Vista/Windows 7. In Unity this button has been removed, however a 'minimise all' function is still useful to allow users to go directly to their desktop. Competitive analysis: Minimise all windows functionality in other operating systems. Windows 2000 Windows XP: Button on desktop and Windows Logo+D key combination Window 7: Clickable area (difficult to discover) in the bottom-right of the screen and Windows Logo + D key combination. (compare comments #10-#12) OSX: Option-Command-M Key combination only Change request: - Create a small application that when clicked minimises all windows. Users who would like a 'minimise all windows' button can then add this application to their launcher. This app will not be in the Launcher by default. - It should be possible to drag and drop the 'Show Desktop' icon to place it into any position in the Launcher Preferred method of enabling Show Desktop icon in Launcher - A user would add the app to the launcher via either installing it from the software centre or by dragging and dropping it from the dash. It should be possible to change it's position in the Launcher by dragging and dropping in the same manner as any other application. This mini- app can also be run directly from the dash. Note that mini-app *should not* be a ccsm option. Fallback method of enabling Show Desktop icon in Launcher - Add checkbox to 'System Settings / Appearance / Behaviour' to enable workspaces - - This should be displayed as: - - Reveal sensitivityLow |-High - -- - Enable workspaces [] Add Show Desktop icon to Launcher [] - -- - Restore Default Behaviours + - See attached image behaviour_panel.png for layout details. To include the Desktop Launcher icon to the launcher you now need to: - Edit the gsetting key favorites in com.canonical.Unity.Launcher - Add there a favorite named unity://desktop-icon ** Attachment added: behaviour_panel.png https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/681348/+attachment/3457491/+files/behaviour_panel.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/681348 Title: Build show me the desktop mini-app that adds a show desktop button to Launcher To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/681348/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Please tell me how I would indicate this choice with the existing GUI. You can't. And it's not a GUI issue, really. [Bug 1087017] Re: WHY does rhythm box keep on mangling sort order of a library?
I have installed a 'tag editor' (Ex Falso, from the repositories) and MANUALLY edited the tags that were creating the problems. With Rhythmbox open on one monitor, and Ex Falso on the other, I could watch the entries fix themselves as I saved the edits in Ex Falso, At least I was getting somewhere! One thing I noticed was the few .wav files in the library, there are only TWO tags available (title and artist), so those can not be fixed where the sort order is not exactly the artist's name. (I guess we have to live with the limitations of the MS 'anointed' format.) What this tells me is simply this - do not use rhythmbox's built in capabilities to edit tags, edit them separately. As, a test, I renamed the db file (~/.local/share/rhythmbox.db), after QUITTING rhythmbox, and re-opened rhythmbox. It was nice to finally watch the library get recreated, and sorted correctly, except, for those .wav files. (I think I will rip them to .flacs) I am not sure if this will ever get fixed, at least, I can offer my experience for anyone who encounters this in the future. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1087017 Title: WHY does rhythm box keep on mangling sort order of a library? [Bug 1089222] [NEW] Characters don't display correctly with certain pdf's
Public bug reported: I am attaching a screenshot for reference. I have to have these working because they are my bank statements. I have tested this same file on Fedora and OpenSuse using LiveCD's of their OS's and it works perfectly there I can open these pdf's using xpdf. I can not open them using Gimp. Gimp displays the same as Evince. So it must be something shared between Gimp and Evince but not xpdf. Something Gnome related or something Unity related possibly as the other 2 distributions use Gnome 3. I have seen some other bugs already posted about this but it says a fix was released. My system is up to date. [Bug 875002] Re: choosing quit from unity launcher doesn't close rhythmbox if music is playing
We discussed this at length on the Ayatana ML in 2011. Effectively what was suggested back then was that the close button design should be different from the closequit button. I believe we should remove the close button from the window decoration, where the application doesn't quit on window close. The action associated with closing without quitting the process is more like minimizing or hiding. Closing i.e. (x) is clearly mentally associated with quitting, and it should be absolutely unambiguous. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/875002 Title: choosing quit from unity launcher doesn't close rhythmbox if music is playing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/875002/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
