[Bug 1077289] Re: Lubuntu 12.04 missing libpam-gnome-keyring
The fix/workaround is as follows: 1. Do: sudo apt-get install libpam-gnome-keyring 2. Logout 3. Login 4. When the pop-up for unlocking the default keyring comes up, do not simply type in the password to unlock. Instead, click details and select the automatically unlock this keyring on login radio button. Then enter your password to unlock the default keyring. You will now have linked the default keyring to the login keyring. Even if the pam module was installed, it is possible that the link was not established. In that case, the last portion of these instructions may still solve the problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-keyring in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1077289 Title: Lubuntu 12.04 missing libpam-gnome-keyring To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-keyring/+bug/1077289/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 265033] Re: Form contents are invisible when cursor leaves field, but data is still saved in form.
Bug is still present in Ubuntu 12.10 / evince 3.6.0-0ubuntu2. Opening a document with forms, data filled in forms just won't show. It won't print either. Going in the form field (once you know there is one !) shows the data, until you leave the field. Works just fine in Okular (okular ask if you want to show/hide the form). [Bug 1095674] Re: Software-Sources and Ubuntuone missing from gnome-control-center in Raring
This was an intentional change as the Ubuntu GNOME Remix is trying to ship a mostly pure GNOME experience which means we want to ship System Settings as close as possible to how GNOME intends. Also, Ubuntu One and Software Sources don't integrate right with System Settings as they are external pop-ups instead of embedded into the main window. [Bug 861171] Re: Shutdown from greeter does nothing when multiple accounts open
I'd say go for your Alt A, Robert, and I agree that an authentication dialogue is better than the vanilla conf dialogue exactly like you say; This will definitely make the general wife or brother pause to think 3 seconds before shutting down killing other sessions. I guess that power button is accessable to the common user in about 98% of all use cases, and therefore I also agree that any user should be able to perform a proper shutdown if he/she is working locally (either from greeter or from session). HOWEVER, this makes it VERY important to keep in mind what Matthew says about really being pushy on the user...really trying to make him understand that this is serious business. (This learning also comes from Windows where quite a few of us have lost work due to the fact that wife/brother actually shut down the computer without even thinking about other users. Well...maybe not THAT many of us, since I guess Windows in general is considered a 1 user system in more cases than unix.) In the mean time (work-around): For anyone with slight tech knowledge (like myself, and I emphasise slight in this sentence), they are likely to have sudo permissions and be able to perform 'shutdown now' from a terminal anyway. [Bug 1076716] Re: Extract Here fails to preserve timestamps (non-empty folders)
In my daily work archives are created to preserve snapshots of work in progress. In addition, they are extracted and the before/after folder structures are compared via Beyond Compare. IF Nvidia drivers would stop randomly hanging and thus forcing power resets, I might be able to reduce archiving activities significantly. 1. Should I advise my less-technical associates to SHUN Nvidia hardware because Nvidia continues to demonstrate that driver quality is not important? 2. For Precise (12.04) this is again broken for unity-2d (as of 17.7.2012 unity-2d 5.12.0-0ubuntu1.1). Note that if the window has a scrollbar, you can grab that to resize the window. Set the following values in frame_geometry_normal as desired: distance name=left_width value=3/ distance name=right_width value=3/ distance name=bottom_height value=3/ Binary package hint: metacity - The issue has been an issue for users (especially of large) screens for several releases- Trackpad users seem to be particularly impacted by this- The issue appears to have been significantly aggravated in Lucid by changing the border width from 3 pixels to 1 pixel The window borders in metacity are far too thin to be used for comfortable window resizing, and resize handles are not available in all applications (or even most). In fact, of all the windows I have open right now, not a single one of them has a resize handle. The result is that I get a lot of misses when I try to drag a window border, which usually results in my clicking on the wrong window altogether. The best fix for this usability bug is to create an invisible region around each non-maximized window about 4px thick that can be used for resizing (in addition to the visible border). Or perhaps there should be a border thickness option on the System Preferences Windows dialog (although the default thickness should still be increased considerably). Ideally all windows would also have a resize handle but I realize that these have to be application controlled (at least that seems to be the position of the metacity team).
