[Bug 1020759] Re: /run/media is an unnecessary divergence from the FHS
@Timmie: This kind of new behavior which breaks everythink that was carefully configured before, annoys me as well. I'm using several applications (unison in particular) on external drives, and all those the configuration files made references to /media/label, not /run/media/username/label, not to /media/username/label It's especially annoying for tools such as Unison which have a database of all changes made on disks, and can't refer to the correct names because it has arbitrary changed, so you must forget all the previous history and build a new one, which is long and tedious for huge external drives. Come on, who is ever using a Linux Desktop for several users, AND at the same time needs security so they can plug different usb keys or external drives simultaneously? In more than 99% of the cases, it won't be necessary, and in the rare cases it could be necessary (multiseat), this kind of behavior could be set as an option, for example in a damn /etc/udisks2.conf On the other hand, if security was such an issue, /media/username/label could still have been kept, but the permissions for the folder could have been set in r/w only for the one who had inserted the key. After all, it doesn't prevent security to have /home/user1 and /home/user2 under the same folder. For my part I could fix this by installing udisks (v1) and removing udisks2 and all its dependencies (including gnome, mate etc). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1020759 Title: /run/media is an unnecessary divergence from the FHS To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/udisks/+bug/1020759/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1099197] [NEW] gphoto2 backend shows incomplete folder listings
Public bug reported: I imported photos from my Samsung Galaxy S2 phone to Shotwell, but lots of photos were missing. Manually browsing the directory structure on the phone from my computer using Nautilus, I see 514 items in the SAMSUNG_Android/DCIM/Camera folder, the last file dated 14 May 2012. However, browsing the folder /sdcard/DCIM/Camera on the phone itself, I see a lot more items (not numbered, I haven't bothered counting), and there are pictures dated until 13 January 2013. I also see the same files from May 2012 and earlier. So, it appears that the gvfs gphoto2 backend is for some reason showing some, but not all, files and folders on the device. [Bug 584183] Re: Evolution crashes almost randomly
I've upgraded to evolution_3.6.2-0ubuntu2 from raring and I still get the random crashes. My laptop has a second root partition with Fedora 18 and a shared /home. The evolution binary in Fedora evolution-3.6.2-3.fc18.x86_64 can access the same user profile without crashing. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/584183 Title: Evolution crashes almost randomly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/584183/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1099281] [NEW] Nautilus hangs on accidental ctrl-double-click of a folder
Public bug reported: me@mypc:~$ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 12.10 Release:12.10 me@mypc:~$ apt-cache policy nautilus nautilus: Installed: 1:3.5.90.really.3.4.2-0ubuntu4.1 Candidate: 1:3.5.90.really.3.4.2-0ubuntu4.1 Version table: *** 1:3.5.90.really.3.4.2-0ubuntu4.1 0 500 http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ quantal-updates/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 1:3.5.90.really.3.4.2-0ubuntu4 0 500 http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ quantal/main i386 Packages What I Expected To Happen: Select multiple files using CTRL-Click method so that I can move them to another directory. What Actually Happened: I accidentally CTRL-DoubleClicked which seems to have set off a Nautilus hang. Here is a sequence of events, including some probably trivial details, but I figure everything helps: 1. On an EXT4 partition separate from the rest of Ubuntu, where I store large multimedia files, I was about to move multiple large files and directories (around 1gb each) to a nested folder. 2. I had selected one folder (I don't think it was a stand-alone file), then holding the CTRL key, I went to select another folder. 3. Instead of single-clicking, my finger decided it had Tourettes and I double-clicked it. 4. The hang occurred immediately, although I wasn't aware of it for a few seconds. The first file was fully highlighted, and the second file had a ligher colored selection highlight. 5. The application was unresponsive, but I was able to move the window. After a moment, the window grayed out. 6. I became impatient and invoked the xkill command. 7. Upon selecting the home folder from the Unity launcher panel, the icon flashed for a moment or two and then nothing happened. 8. When I invoked nautilus via command like, I was given this output after few moments: me@mypc:~$ nautilus Could not register the application: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus) 9. By the time I typed about half of this error report, I was able to run Nautilus from the panel again.
