[Bug 1040885] Re: gnome-terminal auto-restores its size

2013-01-23 Thread Timo Jyrinki
I apparently move terminal windows less than other people :) So coming
to raring soon, backport for quantal sounds like a good idea. If you
want to do it, branch lp:ubuntu/quantal/gnome-terminal, add the patch
and test that it works (bzr builddeb + dpkg -i), propose for merging
back to that branch and see
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#Procedure.

Hi Eustaquio and Pavol,

Try to update brasero to 3.4.1-0ubuntu1.1 version from Ubuntu 12.04 (or
12.10) updates repository - updated version fixes very important bug
#780117 (Brasero finishes without error but unusable media[on-the-fly

without problems with Brasero.

[Bug 519935] Re: unable to eject cd-rom after burning disk

2013-01-23 Thread Klaus Bielke
I am using brasero 3.4.1 from
package 3.4.1-0ubuntu1.1
on ubuntu 12.04 LTS i386 32 bit.

The problem is NOT fixed!

I still have to eject manually. Burned CDs are OK if ejected before
closing the window but sometimes corrupted when ejected after closing
the window.

After closing the window with the hint Please eject manually … brasero
does not terminate. In order to burn another ISO to CD I first must kill
the old brasero process with sudo killall brasero.

[Bug 1080367] Re: Can't select drive containing media that I want to copy or create an image

2013-01-23 Thread Mantas Kriaučiūnas
** Description changed:

- I selected the option to created a 1:1 ISO image of a CD, but in the
- 'Copy CD/DVD' window when I select the 'Select disc to copy' expanded
- list I can not drive the drive that contains the media that I want to
- copy. I see the option I want to select but when I click on it that
- option is not displayed, only a blank field is displayed. Since I can
- not select an option, I can not proceed to copy the CD
+ I selected the option to created a 1:1 ISO image of a CD, but major problem
appears when I try to choose the disk from the 'Select disc to copy' expanded
list (in the 'Copy CD/DVD' window) - I can't permanently select the drive that
contains the media that I want to copy. I see the needed disk in the list, but
when I click on it, that disk is not displayed, only a blank field is
displayed. Since I can't select an option, I can not proceed to copy the CD :(
+ See attached video screencast (out.ogv) and you will understand where is the
problem :)

I should be able to select the drive that contains the media that I want
- to copy and then proceed to copy the CD.
+ to copy and then proceed to copy the CD/DVD.

Re: [Bug 519935] Re: unable to eject cd-rom after burning disk

2013-01-23 Thread Kyle Hopkins
Problem was reported fixed for 12.10. You stated you are using 12.04.

Also, I believe the bug was that even when trying to eject manually the
disk would not. I have to restart my computer to eject a disk after brasero.

On 01/23/2013 06:55 AM, Klaus Bielke wrote:
I am using brasero 3.4.1 from

 on ubuntu 12.04 LTS i386 32 bit.

[Bug 1102265] [NEW] Wrong time reported in title bar

2013-01-23 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When I move the mouse on the left side of the title bar graphics
centered in the title bar (it shows weather, temperature, and time), the
weather reported is correct, but the Sunrise: and Sunset: times are
incorrect. I am in the mountain time zone (GMT-7) at 53.5 degrees
north. The times reported are all GMT+0, so instead of showing Sunrise:
8:32 / Sunset 16:49, its showing Sunrise: 15:32 / Sunset 23:49. Its
getting the 53.5 degrees north part correct, but not taking into account
the time zone. Please note: I am using the Gnome classic desktop.

This bug is really annoying. Sufficiently annoying that I registered an

I just got upgraded to ubuntu 12.04 on a machine where have no root
access, so I can't hack any of the settings. It seems my only real
option is to abandon gnome and use a different window manager.

[Bug 452049] Re: Gnome Places contains filesystems mounted via bind

The upstream bug has now a working patch for the problem. If it cannot
be backported then it should probably arrive in Gnome 3.8

+++ b/gio/gunixmounts.c

+ /* We ignore bind fstab entries, as we ignore bind mounts anyway */
+ if (hasmntopt (mntent, bind))

Maybe some of the Ubuntu developers can look at it, and commend if this
patch is eligible for a Stable Release Update?

[Bug 1065979] Re: external/internal monitors mirrored on boot when laptop lid is closed

2013-01-23 Thread Ritesh Khadgaray
[Impact]

 * Booting laptop in docking station with lid closed results in low resolution
(1024x768) on external monitor
 * Machine uses Mirror-Mode when booting even when laptop lid is closed
 * Low resolution desktop (1024x768) when user logs in, must be manually set to
optimal resolution for external montior
 * Customer is preparing rollout to many non-technical users. Manually setting
resolution should not be required.

[Test Case]
Steps to Reproduce:
  1. Boot system in docking station with lid closed
  2. Login screen is shown at 1024x768

After login, user desktop is still 1024x768
Manually setting resolution to optimal is successful

[Regression Potential]

 * I dont see any regression potential here, except for the user to end up auto
configured optimal setup as seen in upstream code.
 * This may break display setup on really broken display drivers ( worst
case/lid closed detection fails), in which we need to fix the bug with
kernel/xorg .

[Bug 120251] Re: security check failed

2013-01-23 Thread Dave
That was a rhetorical question. But let me rephrase it: Does Skype do
free VOIP using open standard protocols? Answer: No.

We are discussing Ekiga here which is a totally different product, so
please keep your opinions about it to yourself if you have nothing
constructive to add.

[Bug 1072151] Re: Cannot burn audio CDs with mp3 files provided

2013-01-23 Thread bwat47
Yeah, I really hope they fix this by 13.04 since it will probably
include brasero 3.6 by default... Shipping a cd burner that can't burn
mp3's would be pretty bad.

Here's the fedora and upstream bug reports for this issue:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=883983https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=883983
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/process_bug.cgi

The solution seems to be using mpegaudioparse instead of mp3parse. The
latter seems to have been dropped in v1.0:

[Bug 1103549] [NEW] Quadrapassel misfunction

2013-01-23 Thread Gerardus B Staal
Public bug reported:

the choice of blocks falling down is not random. Often 20 or more of the
same colorfollow each other (usually white, yellow or brown) and others
are very scarce( purple, blue, green, red) Because of this many games
end with a 0 score. In a former version before the Ubuntu update I have
reached scores of 6.

[Bug 982307] Re: unity shows sometimes the desktop on desktop unlock dialog

2013-01-23 Thread Peter Banka
I can reliably reproduce this bug if I click the Unity menu bar on the
sound icon to pause music and then walk away from the screen. This
leaves the menu-bar focused. When returning to the computer, the screen
is blank. Moving the mouse results in seeing the entire desktop in an
unlocked state. If I attempt to interact with the machine by clicking or
typing, the lock screen suddenly pops up and makes me type in my
password.

Given that this bug has been missing the details required by the SRU
process for more than 2 months, I am rejecting the upload. Please re-
upload after adding the details to the bug.

If this bug is not part of the delta, then please remove mention of it
from the changelog, as bug #1035219 does have the necessary information.

[Bug 1103744] [NEW] New glib breaks gtk-doc generated code for scanning

2013-01-23 Thread Rodney Dawes
Public bug reported:

When building documentation for a library, gtk-doc generates a program
in C for introspection of documentation from the library's code. This
generated code includes a call to g_type_init, and with the new version
of glib, causes a compilation warning/error due to use of the deprecated
symbol.

[Bug 1103757] [NEW] Crashes while loading large library; 12.10 upgrade; ntfs drive

2013-01-23 Thread Si Dedman
Public bug reported:

HI all.
I've been using rhythmbox for a few years and it's mostly been good to me.

Backstory to this problem:
Had problems with Ubuntu 11.10 (i think) upgraded to 12.10 which fixed them,
however it screwed up my dualboot setup (rant about how ubuntu upgrades don't
maintain grub config omitted). I had:
sda: ntfs drive, win XP bootable
sdb: ex4 ubuntu bootable, my OS 99.9% of the time.
BUT: my music (~38000 songs) is on the ntfs drive, which used to (be available
at grub and) auto-mount. Rhythmdb.xml therefore has a catalogue of all the
files in the folders, with playcount and ratings info* which I don't want to
lose.
I've set the drive to automount with fstab (still not available in grub) and
the files are where they should be.

The problem itself:
Rhythmbox fires up with the total number of tracks as expected and the list of
artists albums and genres looking normal in the music library panes, then it
does the library check/scan for a while (within normal time range for this
number of files) then crashes.

Debug info thusfar ascertained:
rhythmbox -d showed me that it was crashing because a certain file hadn't been
seen in too long (as per identical bug here:
https://mail.gnome.org/archives/rhythmbox-devel/2012-November/msg00012.html). I
verified the track was present and uncorrupted and emailed the guy in the
previously mentioned bug to problem solve with him. He solved it by deleting
all the ignore entries in rhythmdb. I backed up rhythmdb and tried this - no
improvement.

rhythmbox -d now shows (last relevant-seeming block - I don't know how to get
it to output the whole megalong text dump):

Thought: could it be that rhythmbox doesn't have sufficient read/write
privileges to the ntfs drive? Tho surely it'd be wrying to edit the database
which is in the ubuntu drive...?

I thought it might be the large collection problem
(https://code.launchpad.net/~matttbe/ubuntu/raring/rhythmbox/lp1010619_RB_2.98/+merge/133209)
however note the last comments - the bugfix has already been implemented
into the builds and I have the latest version which therefore has this
fixed.

I have the crash report but it looks like I can only attach one file.
Glad to do whatever's required to provide more info.
Thanks in advance all!

Si

*though unrelated at first glance, this kind of thing makes implementing
THIS https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=538549 even more
worthwhile, as users can torch their corrupt database and start fresh.

[Bug 1103781] [NEW] nautilus crashed with SIGSEGV in malloc()

2013-01-23 Thread Edward Donovan
Public bug reported:

Lots of nautilus crashes lately, for me, in Raring. Like bug 1101965
and bug 1101985. This appears to be a separate point in the code, but
we'll see.

I removed .xsession-errors, because it had directory and other info from
my machine. The possibly relevant part was the last two lines:

(process:10001): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_slice_set_config: assertion `sys_page_size
== 0' failed
(nautilus:8538): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_unref: assertion
`G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed

I'm not sure if these came right at the time of the crash.

Thanks.
