[Bug 1070290] Re: Folders bookmarks not showing in places

2013-01-24 Thread Anthony Barclay
Problem seems to be that in gnome-panel/libpanel-util/panel-gtk.c the
function panel_gtk_get_bookmark_file will return the path to the
bookmarks file as ~/.config/gtk-3.0/bookmarks whereas nautilus appears
to be updating the file ~/.gtk-bookmarks. Problem is obviously something
about the condition being used to determine which path to return but I'm
afraid I don't know how to fix it correctly so instead a workaround
until someone wiser does is to do the following:

rm ~/.config/gtk-3.0/bookmarks
ln -sf ~/.gtk-bookmarks ~/.config/gtk-3.0/bookmarks

- When I search for the tab character in a document (with Search - Find)
- the part of the line after each found tab gets a dark background -
- sometimes it's black and sometimes it's blue.
+ When I search for a string (with Search - Find) and a match is found at
+ the beginning of a line, that line gets a dark background - sometimes
+ it's black and sometimes it's blue - making it impossible to read
+ anything on that line after the highlighted match.

  Steps to reproduce the bug:

- 1. Launch Gedit. Press the tab key. Press Ctrl-F and search for tabs
- (\t).
+ 1. Launch Gedit. Write the string `foo bar' in a document. Press Ctrl-F
+ and search for `foo'.

- 2. What happens is that the background of the first line after the tab
- character is black or dark blue making it impossible or at least hard to
- read any text that may follow the tab character.
+ 2. What happens is that the background of the first line after the
+ highlighted word `foo' goes black or dark blue.

- 3. The expected behaviour would be not to change the color of the line
- after the tab character.
+ 3. The expected behaviour would be not to change the color of the
+ background except for the matched string.

[Bug 1065979] Re: external/internal monitors mirrored on boot when laptop lid is closed

2013-01-24 Thread Ritesh Khadgaray
Hi @seb128

This is a modified version of the patch pushed upstream. The upstream
seems to have independently written a patch to implement the same idea.
The added an option to use the default configuration ( which I have
skipped here, as I do not see much use for this ).

I have posted the gnome bz to the lp, and the git commit -
*
http://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-settings-daemon/commit/plugins/xrandr/gsd-xrandr-manager.c?id=32f7a938fca072e14bad1928b492e29ba0e3090c

The new follow-lid action was added here, which I have skipped over.

[Bug 31286] Re: Displays repeated keyring dialogs on resume from suspend and login

2013-01-24 Thread Thomas Hood
From bug #1067555:

I found to reproduce this bug by 2 ways:

1. When not connected to a secured (without password saved) wifi, try to
connect to the secured wifi (do not type password or do anything), go
take a rest, unlock computer and see a lot of nm-applet dialog.

2. When not connected to a secured (without password saved) wifi, try to
connect to the secured wifi (do not type password or do anything);
repeat from the begining.

To fix this, the dataflow should be like this: On connect event: If
keyring-dialog is visible, do nothing, else if connection needs password
and password is not saved, display keyring-dialog.

[Bug 703302] [NEW] Toshiba Laptop battery not being detected

2013-01-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I am using Toshiba L650 X5310 laptop and noticed that its not detecting
battery and hence hibernate function is not available and its not able
to show the battery status. I searched and found that a lot of people
are experiencing the same problem, since this needs a kernel level fix,
no resolutions/wordarounds are posted anywhere. I have tried many Ubuntu
versions (old and new) and all of them posses the same issue. I have
even tried several other distros(Centos/Mandriva/OpenSuse) but results
were the same. Here is the demsg

root@me-Satellite-L650:~# dmesg | grep batt
[0.974257] ACPI: Battery Slot [BAT1] (battery absent)

root@me-Satellite-L650:~# acpi -V
Adapter 0: on-line
Cooling 0: LCD 0 of 7
Cooling 1: Processor 0 of 10
Cooling 2: Processor 0 of 10
Cooling 3: Processor 0 of 10
Cooling 4: Processor 0 of 10

The Laptop runs without AC power supply, it means battery is able to
power-up the laptop but it does it show a status. My BIOS has been
updated to the very latest version and all packages are up to-date.

root@me-L650:~# cat /etc/issue

[Bug 36812] Re: Keyboard layout change on hotkeys press instead of release and do not work well with shortcuts

2013-01-24 Thread anatoly techtonik
Just my 0.02 cents. Why not to introduce transaction concept for key
presses?

1. Transaction is finished when the last key is released
2. The returned result from the transaction is the sequence of keys pressed

This should solve all [Alt, Shift] problems.

Example:
  user presses Alt key
user presses Shift key and releases it
  user presses Shift key
  user releases Alt key
  user releases Shift key

The returned sequence is [Alt, Shift, Shift]

[Bug 1100320] [NEW] Annotation Font-Color is unreadable in Evince

2013-01-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Open a PDF with Evince
2. Try to add an annotation
3. Write some text within the annotation

Expected to Happen:

The annotation font color is black, so that is readable on white
background.

What happens instead:

The color is yellow, so that all written text is unreadable.

Please be aware that this is a Ambiance/Radiance Theme bug as this error does
not occur on other themes like Adwaita. So switching the theme for annotations
might be a workaround.

[Bug 1063782] Re: Mouse pointer speed settings have no effect

2013-01-24 Thread Lisa Schmidt
I have the same issue after getting a new keyboard/mouse set which is
wireless. The old mouse was a cable mouse. I still try to figure out how
to fix it. The mouse speed/acceleration settings have no effect at all.
The mouse is always going at full speed which is very annoying.

Re: [Bug 682788] Re: Improve Unity Global Menu

2013-01-24 Thread Aleve Sicofante
2013/1/24 Chad Germann cgerm...@gmail.com

And just remove the vanishing functionality completely. its not like
that panel area is being used for anything else.

It's used for the window's buttons and title when in maximized mode, and
the application name when non-maximized. The solution is to show the title
whenever the mouse reaches either the top left corner (application title
area when not maximized, buttons area when maximized) or the area between
the menu and the indicators. In other words: show the title of the window
whenever the mouse is on the top bar but outside the menu area.

[Bug 1104434] [NEW] Copy entry in terminal menu not accessible via menu key-C

2013-01-24 Thread Edu
Public bug reported:

1. Open new terminal window: gnome-terminal --disable-factory
2. Select some text.
3. Press the menu key.
= Menu is displayed with first entry selected (Open Terminal).
4. Press C.
= The selected entry is unselected.

Expected result: Copy in the menu is selected and the selected text is
copied into the copy/paste buffer and the menu is closed.

You can also select a different menu entry with the arrow keys after
step 3 and get the same result, unless you select Close Window, in
which case step 4 selects the Copy entry, but does not execute it and
close the menu.

With the following command menu copy works as expected:

UBUNTU_MENUPROXY=0 gnome-terminal --disable-factory

[Bug 910964] Re: Cannot import photos from PTP Camera (Fuji X10)

2013-01-24 Thread Jim Nelson
As reported on the Shotwell mailing list:
http://lists.yorba.org/pipermail/shotwell/2013-January/004494.html

It looks like Rhythmbox and/or libmtp was interfering with accessing the
user's device because it was detected as MTP rather than PTP. The user
killed the Rhythmbox process and the camera began working with Shotwell.

For the original reporter (and anyone else with this issue), please try
reproducing this problem again. Then look at the end of this file:

$ tail -30 ~/.xsession-errors

+ Test case:
+ Open PDF with a link in it under Xubuntu
+ Click the link
+ Should fail with the current versions of evince/apparmor and work with the
new versions
+
+ -
+
+ Regression potential:
+ minimal as this should just enable exo usage in apparmor
+
+ --

Using a fresh install of Xubuntu 12.04 beta, I can not open links from
  within evince.

A red bar appears on top and says :
  Unable to open external link
Failed to execute child process exo-open (Permission denied)

Ubuntu doesn't support Medibuntu.

I believe the not really official but vaguely recommended way to
install libdvdcss is to basically do what comment #5 says. See also

[Bug 1104798] [NEW] Keyboard shortcut for search has changed.

2013-01-24 Thread Anton Schleef
Public bug reported:

Okay, this very day (and I mean literally within the past 24-36 hours,
most likely the lesser since it was less than 24 hours ago I last
updated) the keyboard shortcut for the Search (Find) function in gedit
has been changed. It is no longer Ctrl+F like it always has been. In
fact, when I open up the Search menu and go to the line for Find it just
lists 'A' for the keyboard shortcut. I was using the previous shortcut
as recently as yesterday, and I tend to use that specific function on a
fairly regular basis (not daily, but on days I use it I may use it a
dozen or three times).

I highly doubt I'm the only person to be having this problem, but I'm
not seeing a mention for it here yet so I'm reporting it.

I am currently using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, with gedit 2.30.3.

[Bug 1104798] Re: Keyboard shortcut for search has changed.

2013-01-24 Thread Anton Schleef
I just took a look through the help for gedit, which still lists the
keyboard shortcut for Search (Find) as 'Ctrl+F', and then was looking
through some of the other keyboard shortcuts, and in the Edit menu the
only thing listed for Paste is 'Z', although it's official shortcut is
'Ctrl+V', which does still work. It's starting to make me wonder just
what other bugs small bugs are in there and haven't been noticed, but I
don't use it heavily enough to make it worth the effort for me.

I will state that I typically use the keyboard shortcuts such as 'Alt+F'
to open a menu and then hit the underlined key for a specific item, the
find function is the only one I normally use the 'Ctrl+' shortcut for,
as that one's the same for all programs, but the menu it's listed under
may differ.
