[Bug 1105919] [NEW] ubuntu's gnome-terminal plays really bad with X11 forwarding
Public bug reported: Hi. Consider the following setup. A ubuntu quantal machine with unity and a kubuntu quantal laptop. I want to admin the machine remotely from the laptop. I ssh into it with X11 forwarding. Now, I realize that an extra terminal would be nice, so I start gnome-terminal on the machine. Due to the ssh X11 forwarding, the terminal should appear on the laptop. As a matter of fact it does. But the way in which it does so is quirky and wrong. 1. The terminal initially appears at the proper window size. But immediately the window starts shrinking autonomously, until it is about 1 row high and 25 chars wide. 2. At this point, grabbing the window corner I can re-make it the proper size (e.g. 80 chars by 25 rows). Once this is done, the window appears to stay the proper size. 3. However, resizing the window is a strange matter. At some window sizes, you get a half line at the bottom of the screen. At some others a repeated line. At some others an empty white stripe. It takes care to adjust the size so that the terminal works fine. 4. If at this point you maximize the window it does so fine. However, unmaximizing it then brings you back to the problem from point 1. Rather than taking its previous unmaximized size, the window does so for a second. Then starts shrinking by itself until it is 1 row high and a few chars wide. Other terminals (e.g. xterm) work just fine. What is happening? Please fix gnome-terminal so that it does not break X11 standards such as X11 forwarding. [Bug 1104788] [NEW] gnome-terminal resizes itself unless on the first tab is activated
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I'm using Linux Mint 14 Nadia w/ Cinnamon and have seen the following bug on both 32- and 64-bit systems. Summary: If you resize the terminal window and want it to stay the new size, the very first tab that was opened must have been or become active at some point with the new size before you click out of the window. Otherwise it will resize itself to its previous size. This is reproducable always. Some concrete examples of when it happens and doesn't happen: - Open the default terminal (gnome-terminal). - Open a new tab on that terminal. Now you have the original tab T1 and the new tab T2. - With T2 active, resize the window. Now click somewhere out of the terminal (the desktop or another open window). The terminal goes back to its previous size on its own. (Bug!) - With T2 active, resize the window. Activate T1. Activate T2 again. Click outside the window. The terminal stays at the new size (as expected). - Go to tab T1. With T1 active, resize the window. Now click outside the window. The terminal stays at the new size (as expected). The following demonstrates that the tab that remembers the window size is the first tab that was open, not the first tab as ordered from left to right: - Now drag and reorder the two tabs to be reverse of what they initially were. I.e. the window contains tabs [[T2] [T1]]. Let's keep them named as-is. - With T2 active, resize the window. Click outside the window. The terminal goes back to its previous size. (Bug!) - With T2 active, resize the window. Activate T1. Click outside the window. The terminal stays at its new size (as expected). ** Affects: gnome-terminal (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- gnome-terminal resizes itself unless on the first tab is activated https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1104788 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in Ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

There is no message when I start it via the terminal. gilles@gilles-PC:~$ apt-cache policy gstreamer0.10 gstreamer0.10-audiosink: Installé : (aucun) Candidat : (aucun) Table de version : gstreamer0.10-qapt: Installé : (aucun) Candidat : 1.9.65-0ubuntu1 Table de version : 1.9.65-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring/universe amd64 Packages libgstreamer0.10-0-dbg: Installé : (aucun) Candidat : 0.10.36-1ubuntu2 Table de version : 0.10.36-1ubuntu2 0 500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring/main amd64 Packages gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad: Installé : 0.10.23-7ubuntu2 Candidat : 0.10.23-7ubuntu2 Table de version : *** 0.10.23-7ubuntu2 0 500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring/universe amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad-multiverse-dbg: Installé : (aucun) Candidat : 0.10.21-1 Table de version : 0.10.21-1 0 500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring/multiverse amd64 Packages gstreamer0.10-plugins-farsight: Installé : (aucun) Candidat : (aucun) Table de version : gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly: Installé : 0.10.19-2 Candidat : 0.10.19-2 Table de version : *** 0.10.19-2 0 500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring/universe amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-dbg: Installé : (aucun) Candidat : 0.10.19-2 Table de version : 0.10.19-2 0 500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring/universe amd64 Packages gstreamer0.10-fluendo-mp3: Installé : 0.10.15.debian-1ubuntu1 Candidat : 0.10.15.debian-1ubuntu1 Table de version : *** 0.10.15.debian-1ubuntu1 0 500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring/universe amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status gstreamer0.10-plugins-good-dbg: Installé : (aucun) Candidat : 0.10.31-3+nmu1ubuntu1 Table de version : 0.10.31-3+nmu1ubuntu1 0 500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring/main amd64 Packages gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-doc: Installé : (aucun) Candidat : 0.10.19-2 Table de version : 0.10.19-2 0 500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring/universe amd64 Packages gstreamer0.10-alsa: Installé : 0.10.36-1.1ubuntu1 Candidat : 0.10.36-1.1ubuntu1 Table de version : *** 0.10.36-1.1ubuntu1 0 500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status gstreamer0.10-packagekit: Installé : (aucun) Candidat : 0.7.6-2 Table de version : 0.7.6-2 0 500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring/universe amd64 Packages gstreamer0.10-plugins-good-doc: Installé : (aucun) Candidat : 0.10.31-3+nmu1ubuntu1 Table de version : 0.10.31-3+nmu1ubuntu1 0 500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring/main amd64 Packages gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg-dbg: Installé : (aucun) Candidat : 0.10.13-5 Table de version : 0.10.13-5 0 500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring/universe amd64 Packages gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad-multiverse: Installé : (aucun) Candidat : 0.10.21-1 Table de version : 0.10.21-1 0 500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring/multiverse amd64 Packages gstreamer0.10-gconf: Installé : 0.10.31-3+nmu1ubuntu1 Candidat : 0.10.31-3+nmu1ubuntu1 Table de version : *** 0.10.31-3+nmu1ubuntu1 0 500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status gstreamer0.10-plugins-base-apps: Installé : 0.10.36-1.1ubuntu1 Candidat : 0.10.36-1.1ubuntu1 Table de version : *** 0.10.36-1.1ubuntu1 0 500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status gstreamer0.10-vaapi-doc: Installé : (aucun) Candidat : 0.3.6-0ubuntu3 Table de version : 0.3.6-0ubuntu3 0 500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring/universe amd64 Packages gstreamer0.10-videosource: Installé : (aucun) Candidat : (aucun) Table de version : libgstreamer0.10-dev: Installé : (aucun) Candidat : 0.10.36-1ubuntu2 Table de version : 0.10.36-1ubuntu2 0 500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring/main amd64 Packages libgstreamer0.10-cil-dev: Installé : (aucun) Candidat : 0.9.2-4 Table de version : 0.9.2-4 0 500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring/universe amd64 Packages gstreamer0.10-gnonlin-dbg: Installé : (aucun) Candidat : 0.10.17-2build1 Table de version : 0.10.17-2build1 0 500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring/main amd64 Packages

[Bug 260918]
Fwink creates a NullRenderer. It adds it to the filter graph. On the CaptureGraphBuilder2, it calls RenderStream(), asking it to link the preview pin to the the default renderer. Then it calls RenderStream() again, asking it to link the output pin to the NullRenderer. Finally it adds the sample grabber in front of the NullRenderer, allowing it to take photos. Since the camera doesn't have a preview pin, CaptureGraphBuilder2 must support the SmartTeeFilter which creates one by duplicating the output pin. Wine's doesn't have that filter. Furthermore, Wine's CaptureGraphBuilder2 doesn't even link the pins correctly. With my patch above, it at least links both to the NullRenderer, allowing Fwink to take photos, but not show preview video (since that needs the SmartTeeFilter). Those that believe Fwink worked before must have been using native qcap? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gst-plugins-good0.10 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/260918 Title: needed: libv4l and associated application patches (or gspca stopped working in 2.6.27) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/adobe-flash-plugin-tools/+bug/260918/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

(In reply to comment #35) Fwink creates a NullRenderer. It adds it to the filter graph. Then it calls RenderStream() again, asking it to link the output pin to the NullRenderer. Finally it adds the sample grabber in front of the NullRenderer, allowing it to take photos. Those that believe Fwink worked before must have been using native qcap? Thanks for your comments (#35). Don't understand it but from a previous comment I think it said to try and install ispq9.x with wine 1.4 or 1.4.2 when available if not already so. If this is a good idea I will try it and report what happens to you here if this is the correct place. Thanks. Now the first subfolder is way up out of the window. * Select the last file at the bottom and drag it up in order to drop it into one of the subfolders = when you reach the top of the window with the cursor (dragging the file), the window will start scrolling up, so you will eventually be able to drop the file into the subfolder, but EXPECTED: if the amount of scrolling you need to do is huge (e.g. there are a lot of files), there SHOULD be a way to speed it up at will. An option would be to have scroll speed increase in proportion to how much you move the cursor upwards out from the top of the window. Or it may speed up just when you are moving the mouse and the cursor is outside the window. Also, scrolling by means of the mouse wheel SHOULD be enabled (which would be already a partial fix, since wheel scrolling is typically much faster) OBSERVED: the speed of scrolling is constant, slow, and there's nothing you can do to speed it up. (this speed is ok when you need to scroll just a little bit, so it's NOT just a matter of increasing it). And mouse wheel scrolling is disabled while you're dragging the file. (I know, this is pretty common: most program won't let you scroll while you're dragging somoething, but in most cases there's no good reason not to allow it, so it's a common but wrong behavior) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.10 Package: nautilus 1:3.5.90.really.3.4.2-0ubuntu4.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.5.0-22.34-generic 3.5.7.2 Uname: Linux 3.5.0-22-generic i686 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia ApportVersion: 2.6.1-0ubuntu10 Architecture: i386 Date: Sat Jan 26 21:26:27 2013 GsettingsChanges: b'org.gnome.nautilus.window-state' b'geometry' b'1312x713+237+208' b'org.gnome.nautilus.window-state' b'sidebar-width' b'180' b'org.gnome.nautilus.window-state' b'start-with-status-bar' b'true' InstallationDate: Installed on 2010-06-23 (948 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Lucid Lynx - Release i386 (20100429) MarkForUpload: True ProcEnviron: TERM=xterm PATH=(custom, no user) XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=set LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: nautilus UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to quantal on 2013-01-13 (13 days ago) ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 quantal running-unity ** Description changed: Steps to reproduce: * Open a folder with many files and a few subfolders; show files as List mode, and order files by name. [Bug 1106472] [NEW] Evolution gets stuck on IMAP server PING
Public bug reported: This bug is reported in Evolution's bugzilla, but it present in Ubuntu 12.04. Luckily I did a cross-check of every file and found that the hidden files were missing! ** Changed in: brasero (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/330688 Title: Hidden files are not added by default To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/brasero/+bug/330688/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 330688] Re: Hidden files are not added with directory
To add to my previous point, at the OS level there is no concept of a hidden file. It is only a convention followed by shells to hide files which begin with a period (.), so as to not spam directory listings. This should be irrelevant to a DVD burner application which used often to create backups. ** Summary changed: - Hidden files are not added with directory + Hidden files are not added by default -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/330688 Title: Hidden files are not added by default To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/brasero/+bug/330688/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

** No longer affects: vlc (Ubuntu) ** No longer affects: totem (Ubuntu) ** No longer affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) ** No longer affects: amarok (Ubuntu) ** Description changed: Karaoke Mode (like in Rockbox) should be added, which does a pretty good job of removing vocals from songs. [Bug 36225] Re: Nautilus Crashes
Vivek, This looks to be a completely different bug than the original bug report here, you would be better off filing a new bug report for your issue. Also a backtrace with debug symbols would be infinitely more helpful, easiest way is to submit via crash dialog from apport. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Apport#How_to_enable_apport -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/36225 Title: Nautilus Crashes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/36225/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1026254] Re: Open with on folders was removed, Ubuntu should consider patching back
Now that Ubuntu is going with 3.6.x in 13.04 some re-consideration could be given to returning this, reasonably non-invasive simple to patch back. The idea that folders should only be opened from nautilus with nautilus is a bit shortsighted.
