[Bug 1105838] [NEW] party mode inescapable unless you know the hotkey

2013-01-26 Thread Joel Pickett
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 785631 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/785631

Public bug reported:

Once you launch party mode in Rhythmbox, it is near impossible to go
back to normal mode unless you know the F11 hotkey. There should be a
button that is around a corner that makes it easy to resume normal mode.

Suggestions:

1. A first-run party mode dialogue could be shown to indicate the F11
hotkey.

2. Small close button added to the party mode interface.

[Bug 1105919] [NEW] ubuntu's gnome-terminal plays really bad with X11 forwarding

2013-01-26 Thread Sergio Callegari
Public bug reported:

Hi. Consider the following setup. A ubuntu quantal machine with unity
and a kubuntu quantal laptop.

I want to admin the machine remotely from the laptop. I ssh into it with
X11 forwarding. Now, I realize that an extra terminal would be nice, so
I start gnome-terminal on the machine. Due to the ssh X11 forwarding,
the terminal should appear on the laptop.

As a matter of fact it does. But the way in which it does so is quirky
and wrong.

1. The terminal initially appears at the proper window size. But
immediately the window starts shrinking autonomously, until it is about
1 row high and 25 chars wide.

2. At this point, grabbing the window corner I can re-make it the proper
size (e.g. 80 chars by 25 rows). Once this is done, the window appears
to stay the proper size.

3. However, resizing the window is a strange matter. At some window
sizes, you get a half line at the bottom of the screen. At some others a
repeated line. At some others an empty white stripe. It takes care to
adjust the size so that the terminal works fine.

4. If at this point you maximize the window it does so fine. However,
unmaximizing it then brings you back to the problem from point 1. Rather
than taking its previous unmaximized size, the window does so for a
second. Then starts shrinking by itself until it is 1 row high and a few
chars wide.

Other terminals (e.g. xterm) work just fine. What is happening?

Please fix gnome-terminal so that it does not break X11 standards such
as X11 forwarding.

[Bug 1104788] [NEW] gnome-terminal resizes itself unless on the first tab is activated

2013-01-26 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I'm using Linux Mint 14 Nadia w/ Cinnamon and have seen the following
bug on both 32- and 64-bit systems.

Summary: If you resize the terminal window and want it to stay the new
size, the very first tab that was opened must have been or become active
at some point with the new size before you click out of the window.
Otherwise it will resize itself to its previous size. This is
reproducable always.

Some concrete examples of when it happens and doesn't happen:

- Open the default terminal (gnome-terminal).
- Open a new tab on that terminal. Now you have the original tab T1 and the
new tab T2.
- With T2 active, resize the window. Now click somewhere out of the terminal
(the desktop or another open window). The terminal goes back to its previous
size on its own. (Bug!)
- With T2 active, resize the window. Activate T1. Activate T2 again. Click
outside the window. The terminal stays at the new size (as expected).
- Go to tab T1. With T1 active, resize the window. Now click outside the
window. The terminal stays at the new size (as expected).

The following demonstrates that the tab that remembers the window size
is the first tab that was open, not the first tab as ordered from left
to right:

- Now drag and reorder the two tabs to be reverse of what they initially were.
I.e. the window contains tabs [[T2] [T1]]. Let's keep them named as-is.
- With T2 active, resize the window. Click outside the window. The terminal
goes back to its previous size. (Bug!)
- With T2 active, resize the window. Activate T1. Click outside the window.
The terminal stays at its new size (as expected).

[Bug 1104788] Re: gnome-terminal resizes itself unless on the first tab is activated

2013-01-26 Thread Xeno Peek
Bugs for gnome-terminal should be reported to Ubuntu, as per the
package's description. This would be a bug on gnome-terminal version
3.6.0-0ubuntu1, from the Ubuntu 12.10 repository. As such, moving the
bug report to Ubuntu on gnome-terminal.

[Bug 1106110] [NEW] gnome-keyring changes tmp-folder during session

2013-01-26 Thread sokai
Public bug reported:

Hi there!

Since some weeks I have the following problem on my system (Ubuntu
12.04).

During a running Ubuntu session (i.e. the uptime is 16 hours) my system
looses the connection to the right tmp-folder of the running gnome-
keyring-daemon.

Error message:
WARNING: gnome-keyring:: couldn't connect to: /tmp/keyring-Ea7GEe/pkcs11:

Running process:
$user25131 0.1 0.0 51620 7428 ?Sl 15:55 0:00

Content of tmp-folder:

drwx-- 2 $user $user 4,0K Jan 26 16:09 keyring-t5kJex/

So you can see, the original tmp-folder (Ea7GEe) is still there, but a
new one (t5kJex) was created. And so I have to reboot my box, to get the
correct connection for all my running apps (like Thunderbird with
Enigmail) or on aria2 in my terminal (it works, but I get the error

[Bug 1106251] [NEW] Cover art fade fades from wrong album when skipping before fade animation is finished

2013-01-26 Thread Cameron Conn
Public bug reported:

Whenever I skip rapidly through songs, if I click skip before the cover-
art completes fading, the first album I skipped from is faded from to
the current song being played. This is a UI bug.

What I expected to happen:
1) Track A is played
2) Skip button is clicked
3) Song is now Track B
4) Cover fade animation begins to fade from A - B
5) Skip button is clicked BEFORE animation is finished
6) Song is now Track C
7) Cover fade animation fades from current state to new track
Current State - C
8) (Optional) Repeat ad infinitum

What actually happens:
1) Track A is played
2) Skip button is clicked
3) Song is now Track B
4) Cover fade animation begins to fade from A - B
5) Skip button is clicked BEFORE animation is finished
6) Song is now Track C
7) Cover Artwork goes back to Track A
8) Cover fade animation begins starts from first track and fades to newly
selected track
A - C (This is the problem)
9) (Optional) Repeat ad infinitum

[Bug 260918]

2013-01-26 Thread Damjan Jovanovic
Fwink creates a NullRenderer. It adds it to the filter graph. On the
CaptureGraphBuilder2, it calls RenderStream(), asking it to link the
preview pin to the the default renderer. Then it calls RenderStream()
again, asking it to link the output pin to the NullRenderer. Finally it
adds the sample grabber in front of the NullRenderer, allowing it to
take photos.

Since the camera doesn't have a preview pin, CaptureGraphBuilder2 must
support the SmartTeeFilter which creates one by duplicating the output
pin. Wine's doesn't have that filter. Furthermore, Wine's
CaptureGraphBuilder2 doesn't even link the pins correctly. With my patch
above, it at least links both to the NullRenderer, allowing Fwink to
take photos, but not show preview video (since that needs the
SmartTeeFilter).

Those that believe Fwink worked before must have been using native qcap?

[Bug 1106283] Re: nautilus crashed with SIGABRT in g_assertion_message() when trying to modify a file's GID as root

2013-01-26 Thread Henry Lin
** Description changed:

I tried to move a file(which is the lastpass installer tarball
lplinux.tar.bz2 from http://lastpass.com ) from another user's home directory
to mine download folder(Which as been converted to ~/下載 in Traditional
Chinese), then tried to change its UID GID to me...as root
  UID changed successfully
When I clicked on the GID selection box...it hangs for a few second and
crashed:(

- Then I tried to open the property dialog of my home
+ To move further, I tried to open the property dialog of my home
  directory(/home/Vdragon)... crashed too.

Before nautilus crashed, a error window showes instantly(than vanished).
I tried to capture it as the attachment.

I suspect this issue is related to I used UTF-8 Chinese characters(林博仁) as
my ... name
  $ getent passwd Vdragon
  Vdragon:x:1001:1001:林博仁,,,:/home/Vdragon:/bin/bash

then nautilus tried to grab my ...name for displaying UID, GID of my
  file/folder...then BANG

There will be no issue if I don't execute nautilus as root then see my
file's properties.(however nautilus won't try to show the UID refers to
  who in this case)

[Bug 260918]

2013-01-26 Thread Robert Benjamin
(In reply to comment #35)
Fwink creates a NullRenderer. It adds it to the filter graph. On the
CaptureGraphBuilder2, it calls RenderStream(), asking it to link the preview
pin to the the default renderer. Then it calls RenderStream() again, asking it
to link the output pin to the NullRenderer. Finally it adds the sample grabber
in front of the NullRenderer, allowing it to take photos.

Since the camera doesn't have a preview pin, CaptureGraphBuilder2 must support
the SmartTeeFilter which creates one by duplicating the output pin. Wine's
 doesn't have that filter. Furthermore, Wine's CaptureGraphBuilder2 doesn't
 even
link the pins correctly. With my patch above, it at least links both to the
NullRenderer, allowing Fwink to take photos, but not show preview video (since
 that needs the SmartTeeFilter).

Those that believe Fwink worked before must have been using native qcap?

Thanks for your comments (#35). Don't understand it but from a previous
comment I think it said to try and install ispq9.x with wine 1.4 or
1.4.2 when available if not already so. If this is a good idea I will
try it and report what happens to you here if this is the correct place.
Thanks. Bob

[Bug 1106317] [NEW] No way to speedup the scrolling when dragging a file into a folder

2013-01-26 Thread matteo sisti sette
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:

* Open a folder with many files and a few subfolders; show files as List mode,
and order files by name. Folders will be at the top. Make sure there are enough
files so that a scroll bar will show up and the amount of scrolling is
considerable.
* scroll down until you can see the last file in the list. Now the first
subfolder is way up out of the window.
* Select the last file at the bottom and drag it up in order to drop it into
one of the subfolders

= when you reach the top of the window with the cursor (dragging the
file), the window will start scrolling up, so you will eventually be
able to drop the file into the subfolder, but

EXPECTED: if the amount of scrolling you need to do is huge (e.g. there are a
lot of files), there SHOULD be a way to speed it up at will. An option would be
to have scroll speed increase in proportion to how much you move the cursor
upwards out from the top of the window. Or it may speed up just when you are
moving the mouse and the cursor is outside the window.
Also, scrolling by means of the mouse wheel SHOULD be enabled (which would be
already a partial fix, since wheel scrolling is typically much faster)

OBSERVED: the speed of scrolling is constant, slow, and there's nothing you can
do to speed it up. (this speed is ok when you need to scroll just a little bit,
so it's NOT just a matter of increasing it).
And mouse wheel scrolling is disabled while you're dragging the file. (I know,
this is pretty common: most program won't let you scroll while you're dragging
somoething, but in most cases there's no good reason not to allow it, so it's a
common but wrong behavior)

For me, it helped to delete the account and re-add it in the

version of Evolution failed. Of course, this is still a bug, since
existing data should be handled with care. But maybe it helps.

I added in gtk+3.0 since this seems to be a wayland dependency problem and
that's literally just been enabled in libgtk-3.
Seems to be high if it's going to stop a lot of gtk apps building, but I guess
it's just a missing build-dep.

[Bug 1106472] [NEW] Evolution gets stuck on IMAP server PING

2013-01-26 Thread John Pye
Public bug reported:

This bug is reported in Evolution's bugzilla, but it present in Ubuntu
12.04. My particular IMAP server does not respond to the 'pings' that
Evolution reports making, possibly to keep alive a server connection (I
am not sure exactly what type of pings these are). Evolution sits there
waiting for the ping to complete, but since my server doesn't respond,
all of Evolution's actions are queued up behind this unresponsive event.
Makes use of Evolution very slow/frustrating. Evolution needs to provide
a way to shorten the timeout or disable this ping activity.

[Bug 330688] Re: Hidden files are not added with directory

2013-01-26 Thread hrjet
Filtering hidden files by default is wrong.

I had taken a backup of a large 3.2 GB folder and was about to delete
the original. Luckily I did a cross-check of every file and found that
the hidden files were missing!

[Bug 330688] Re: Hidden files are not added with directory

2013-01-26 Thread hrjet
To add to my previous point, at the OS level there is no concept of a
hidden file.

It is only a convention followed by shells to hide files which begin
with a period (.), so as to not spam directory listings. This should be
irrelevant to a DVD burner application which used often to create
backups.

** Summary changed:

- Hidden files are not added with directory

Karaoke Mode (like in Rockbox) should be added, which does a pretty good

This is a hackish way to remove the audio track from non-multiplexed

[Bug 36225] Re: Nautilus Crashes

2013-01-26 Thread Tim
Vivek, This looks to be a completely different bug than the original bug
report here, you would be better off filing a new bug report for your
issue.

Also a backtrace with debug symbols would be infinitely more helpful,
easiest way is to submit via crash dialog from apport.

[Bug 1026254] Re: Open with on folders was removed, Ubuntu should consider patching back

2013-01-26 Thread Doug McMahon
Now that Ubuntu is going with 3.6.x in 13.04 some re-consideration could be
given to returning this, reasonably non-invasive simple to patch back.
The idea that folders should only be opened from nautilus with nautilus is a
bit shortsighted.

Sample patch attached
