[Bug 332348] Re: Display icon indication for mobile/web client/bot/etc IM users

2013-02-23 Thread Jordan Bates
This continued happening in every version of Ubuntu for the past two
years, making me switch to Pidgin every single time.

Please fix this bug, it is certainly not fixed! Great client otherwise
ruined by a small oversight.

[Bug 1132048] [NEW] Mobile AIM users shown as Available, need indicator

2013-02-23 Thread Jordan Bates
Public bug reported:

AIM users with the mobile status have an indicator in AIM, Pidgin,
Trillian, and Kopete. Empathy is the only client that does not have one.
Instead users are just shown as Available with no indicator at all.

Re: [Bug 775117] Re: Thunar hangs on first launch of each session

2013-02-23 Thread Stefano Tarquini
Il 23/02/2013 07:47, Jochen Fahrner ha scritto:
 Hi Stefano,

 i modified the file usr/share/gvfs/mounts/network.mount

with that change you have to wait the first time you click on Network.

Now in my file i have
name resolve order = lmhosts host wins bcast
so i had to delete lmhosts host ???

It's essential that you remove the host. This is the cause for the hangs.
But you can also remove the lmhosts. This has no function until you add some
 entries in /etc/samba/lmhosts.

Hi Jochen,
it doesn't work. I had made the modifications you wrote me (the first
modification is because in the past i have modificated
AutoMount=false, while the second is yours):

/usr/share/gvfs/mounts/network.mount

[Mount]
Type=network
Exec=/usr/lib/gvfsd-network
AutoMount=true

/etc/samba/smb.conf

name resolve order = lmhosts wins bcast

In the following i describe you that it happens.
I launch thunar.
The first thunar window appear after almost 20 secs and after another 5
secs appear a second thunar window; neither of the two windows don't
have the network icon on the left panel (bookmarks of folders, Ctrl+B).
If i open another thunar window it also doesn't have the network icon
but if i close all thunar windows and then open a new thunar window i
have the network icon (if i click on it appear istantly on the main the
Windows network icon).
In the task manager the thunar -daemon process was present.

[Bug 389419] Re: Totem finishes early with .rmvb files

2013-02-23 Thread Fabio Marconi
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. However, I am closing it because the bug has been fixed in the latest
development version of Ubuntu - Raring Ringtail.
If you need a fix for the bug in previous versions of Ubuntu, please do steps 1
and 2 of the SRU Procedure [1] to bring the need to a developer's attention.
I've tested same file in both vlc and totem with same result.

[Bug 689593] Re: 2x100% CPU and memory usage growth when setting bootable flag in palimpsest

2013-02-23 Thread Otus
I have this in 12.10. When I try to erase the USB with Startup Disk
Creator, the two threads start using 100% CPU each and balloon to tens
of gigabytes of memory in a matter of minutes.

I've stored the raw usb disk contents (dd if=/dev/sdc) in case that's
helpful to a developer, but it's 8GB so I won't store it forever and
can't host it anywhere accessible over the internet.

2013-02-23 Thread rifter
This problem exists in 12.04 Precise as well. And no matter how much you kill
it, it keeps coming back. The process shows init as its parent:
rifter5626 1 14 15:05 ?00:00:48 yelp
ghelp:///usr/share/gnome/help/gnome-terminal/C/gnome-terminal.xml

The only way to stop it seems to be to kill the terminal, for some
reason. highly frustrating.

I'm using the 64 bit AMD version of Precise, btw.

kill that.

Kill -9 does the trick. I had been using xkill and I guess it does not
do that. Destroying or closing the window, or using xkill, results in a
respawn, but kill -9 from the terminal gets rid of it.

[Bug 329389] Re: Party mode ununderstandable and undocumented

2013-02-23 Thread Israel Dahl
Still missing in 13.04.
Really chaning the phrase Party Mode to Fullscreen would eliminate the
problem.
Party Mode is gibberish. A fullscreen app is how we used to use apps back in
the day and it wasn't always a party. Or is the TTY a terminal Party
Mode? Really Fullscreen describes it MUCH more clearly.

2013-02-23 Thread Israel Dahl
It is still present in 13.04... and I wonder if part of the reason could
be purchased music. Ubuntu One doesn't store its music in the Music
folder. So Multiple Locations are set.

Any chance it is to do with multithreading ? I am currently using a
quadcore and I get the problem. Didn't have it with a single core cpu.

Massively annoying though.

[Bug 1132299] [NEW] Allow storing thumbnails along with database

2013-02-23 Thread Arie Skliarouk
Public bug reported:

Shotwell stores all thumbnails in ~/.local/.shotwell, and these are not
visible by a different user on the same machine. Worse yet - they are
not rebuilt if any of the thumbnails is missing.

Please allow thumbnails to be stored in the same directory as the
database, or allow rebuilding thumbnails on demain.

Or, if you insist, when you click 'X' then display an icon in the system

Either way, there is a usability bug that needs fixing.

[Bug 1132359] [NEW] Gnome system monitor uses lots of processor

2013-02-23 Thread florin
Public bug reported:

Hello!

I thought it might be something normal for a tool to see running
applications and other live information about system to use 5-10+ % of
processor, but since I recently tried Xubuntu and that script uses
almost no resources, I made my mind to report it as a bug. It can either
be fixed by changing what makes the default system monitor in Ubuntu
consume so much of our processor, or change it from the distribution.

It is true, the Xubuntu script is simpler, but the main part is the one
showing processormemoryetc. of the running applications, and that one
is just perfect.

Just now I installed the KDE tool, ksysguard. And this one consumes 1-2%
of processor, compared to 5-15% of gnome-system-monitor.

If the Gnome team does not find a fix for this, please to replace it
with something that works. Ksysguard is really really good, a lot
better.

Thank you!
