[Bug 658004] Re: brasero dvd capacity estimation is broken

2013-02-26 Thread Thomas Schmitt
Hi,

To my own experience, the code which governs creation and burning of
ISO images on-the-fly is separate from the code that governs burning
of pre-produced image files from hard disk.
(I am developer of libburn and libisofs, not a user of Brasero.
But i once had reason to find out how Brasero managed to spoil
 their work. Ubuntu bug 780117.)

So i would look for another size check function that is in charge
for image burning.

The found problem about and = cannot explain the report
about the refusal to burn a DVD-R which had more than the needed
capacity. That problem might match bug 897550 if Brasero is daring
enough to ask the operating system for telling the media capacity.
(Of course it should ask the drive, instead.)

Have a nice day :)

Thomas

[Bug 973491] [NEW] nautilus popup menu highlighting using copy and paste incorrect (items displayed unactive when they are not)

2013-02-26 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When an item is right clicked and cut or copy are selected, at the time
of paste (using right click) the menu doesn't reflect that there is an
item available to be pasted. While the paste is still possible, the menu
line is grayed out.

If another nautilus window is opened then the Paste menu item is
correctly enabled and not greyed out.

When nautilus is restarted and there is nothing availble to be pasted
the menu item is greyed out and not selectable.

This is with Precise 12.04 beta 2 using gnome-shell

[Bug 1067514] Re: Gimp crashes after saving file

2013-02-26 Thread Frederic
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 912909 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/912909

I just noticed that starting gimp in a terminal with the switch
--stack-trace-mode=always prevents the crash. save as saves and gimp
stays on. So the command I use is: gimp --stack-trace-mode=always .
This may or may not always work. I just made the observation. On other
machines, set up differently, it may not even work at all. It's still
worth a try, I guess. -- Frederic.

no, everything seems to work now, at least in my version (I have the

I am not sure, but it seems like the relative path takes a resource://

[Bug 1133477] [NEW] cut-n-paste move files got stuck forever

2013-02-26 Thread matteo sisti sette
Public bug reported:

With Nautilus, I navigated to a folder that contained about 2,000 gif files.
I selected all of them
I cut with Ctrl+X
I navigated to another folder
I pasted with Ctrl+V

= A popup window appeared saying Preparing to move N files, and it got stuck
there forever.
Nautilus stopped responding. I waited half an hour, then I had to kill it.

Actually some of the files were moved. Which is the worst thing that
could happen.

I tried again with the remaining files and it happened again!! It's
systematic!!

I suspect it has to do with displaying the previews of a big number of
files. Nautilus becomes completely unmanageable whenever you open
folders with lots of files. Maximum priority should be given to the UI
and actual operations; displaying of the previews should be done in the
background and should never, ever slow down user operations the
slightest bit. Seems pretty obvious.

Also note that 2000 is not even that much. Actually it's very few files.

[Bug 880657] Re: stuck retrieving emails from IMAP

2013-02-26 Thread virtualeyes
Evolution 3.6.2 update with 3 small IMAP accounts (maybe 200 hundred
emails stored on remote mail server): the entire UI blocks to the point
of why-bother-sticking-with-this-P..

I have turned off junk mail checking and every other possible resource
requiring activity, all to no avail.

My workflow consists of attempting to a view a message (plain text,
could be a few bytes of data like a hello text email) and waiting
several MINUTES for the UI to unblock.

High speed connection on Dell M4700 QM3840 + SSD +16GB RAM. Firefox,
SSH, etc. all blazing fast. Can access remote mail server via webmail
and everything is snappy.

What on earth is happening under the hood for Evolution to block the
entire UI???

Is there a way to make Evolution snappy as it used to be in 2.x days?

I like Evolution in principle but in practice it's become too painful,
need to look elsewhere unless there's a miracle around the corner.

Thanks for clues

[Bug 1021375] Re: Nautilus says the USB stick is read only when it is not

2013-02-26 Thread Jørgen L Sørensen
One more person with this read-only problem :-(

When I put a SD Card into the slot in my laptop Nautilus opens the SD
Card, but I also get the problem: The destination is read-only :-(

In a terminal everything works fine.

When I run sudo nautilus in the termnal everything also works fine and I
can write to the SC Card - but why not when I'm running Nautilus as
normal user :-(

Permissions look also fine to me:

2013-02-26 Thread Stéphane Guillou
Just to add to this, I am still having the problem with Nautilus on
12.10 i686, and replacing Nautilus by PCManFM as the default file
manager (and tweaking it so it manages the desktop to, as described
here: http://askubuntu.com/a/257456/29270) fixes the problem - PCManFM
always reorganises the icons neatly when changing the screen resolution

Like Jesse Lee screen darkens now without switching off at all. There is

the problem; When watching videos via flash or having electricsheep

[Bug 1114406] Re: Gtk.TreeModelSort does not init properly

2013-02-26 Thread Liviu Andronic
Concerning catfish, here it fails to run with the following message:
liv@malou-laptop:~$ catfish
python: can't open file 'bin/catfish.py': [Errno 2] No such file or directory

Would it help if I backported python-gi to work around this issue?

Re: [Bug 903422] Re: Ubuntu does not work with Samsung Galaxy phones ( Unable to open raw device 0)

2013-02-26 Thread kroq-gar78
Well, if it's going to happen, an SRU has to be filled out, and it will
have to meet the criteria for that. Now, whether this qualifies or not, I'm
not sure, but I'm sure something useful will be on the Ubuntu wiki about
that.

Sincerely,

[Bug 585472] Re: File System Properties reports 128 TB of use

2013-02-26 Thread Colin Watson
Hello outpost...@gmail.com, or anyone else affected,

Accepted nautilus into precise-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at
http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/1:3.4.2-0ubuntu7 in a few
hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

My gut feeling is Raring onwards, as it's quite an intrusive change
