[Bug 1114406] Re: Gtk.TreeModelSort does not init properly

2013-02-27 Thread Martin Pitt
Do we have any package in Ubuntu 12.04 which is broken by this? For
application developers there is always the better way of calling
Gtk.TreeModelSort(model=your_model) or
Gtk.TreeModelSort.new_with_model(your_model), both of which are the
official API. The new override in Quantal is merely a workaround to
provide backwards compatibility to the old pygtk, but is not the API as
offered by introspection or GTK.

2013-02-27 Thread Marius B. Kotsbak
NM list update from Dan Williams: nm-applet has not been updated to support
AP mode. (gnome-control-center
has been.) Can you file a bug?

Yeah, we simply ran out of time on this for 0.9.8; but it will be
cherry-picked to 0.9.8.2. I have a branch for it, but we need some
changes in the generic code (which both the editor and applet use)
before this is all handled correctly.

[Bug 984785] Re: .goutputstream files polluting $HOME

2013-02-27 Thread Nicolas M.
As reported before, all the “.goutputstream-xx” files are temporary
files that GLib uses in file write activities. However, these buffer
files aren't deleted when an operation was cancelled. Currently, a fix
was committed for this bug (see #104).

Now, let's focus on the other part of the problem. On every session
close, LightDM needs to clean ~/.Xauthority. According to #28, there can
be lines in .Xauthority that shouldn't be erased, though the last line
seems to stand for the current session and should be deleted when the
session is closed. I don't know well how it works, but some process
(most likely XAuth) is called to remove the last cookie of .Xauthority.
It works fine when you only close your session, but when you shutdown
from an open session, it looks like LightDM doesn't take time to close
it properly before shutting the whole system down. o_O

That results in a “.goutputstream-xx” containing all the ”permanent”
cookies of .Xauthority. If you delete .Xauthority, these permanent cookies will
disappear, so you will only get null-sized “.goutputstream-xx”... and a
much lighter .Xauthority on next reboot. ;-) And it seems to cause no other
problems, according to
http://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.php?pid=11588001#p11588001

[Bug 1132962] Re: GConf is deprecated

2013-02-27 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thanks for your bug report but please don't open a bug affecting lot of
components like that:

- those are not the same issue, they are similar issues on different
component. The launchpad also affect is meant to list several
components for one bugs, e.g if a GNOME mounting issue needs changes to
both gvfs/nautilus, it's not meant to drop all the doesn't build or
need to be ported bugs in a ticket affecting half of the archive

- it will email spam every subscriber to any of the sources for any
change to the bug, which means receiving tons of emails about projects
you are not subscribed to, even if your bug is fixed

- it will timeout launchpad easily

- some of those are duplicated, and we already have a tag to list the
bugs that need to be ported:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bugs?field.tag=gnome3-gsettings

[Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c

2013-02-27 Thread Leandro
For QT applications you need to edit this file:

/usr/share/X11/locale/en_US.UTF-8/Compose

and change every accented Cs by their corresponding Ç and ç (two times),
in these lines:

dead_acute C: Ç U0106 # LATIN CAPITAL LETTER C WITH
ACUTE
dead_acute c: ç U0107 # LATIN SMALL LETTER C WITH
ACUTE

[Bug 1116449] Re: Aim/Jabber/Salut/Yahoo plugins broken

2013-02-27 Thread Arthur Heffern
I seem to have no hang issues if I don't add an XMPP account.

After adding only AIM, Yahoo and MSN accounts, I can use pidgin, close
pidgin and relaunch pidgin without issue.

After adding an XMPP account, I can use the account until I close and
relaunch pidgin, at which point, I get the crash. Even tried to use
finch and the behaviour seems the same. Looks like it's with the XMPP
connection routines / libs, at least for me. I'll try and get stack
traces and whatnot when I have a bit more time.

[Bug 1107491] Re: gnome-system-monitor doesn't shows the real amount of RAM is used

2013-02-27 Thread Debra Virden
** Description changed:

  1) ubuntu 12.10 64bit
  2) gnome-system-monitor 3.6.0
- 3) Whenever I used vmware player and chose an amount of ram for the virtual
os, despite of how much ram was used by the virtual os, I want to see the
summary of the RAM was used under Resources. Firstly I thought that was the
way it is. Then I used windows and vmware player in them. I noticed that on
'task manager / processes' didn't indicate this amount, exactly as
gnome-system-manager on ubuntu. Although, on 'task manager / performance' there
was all of it! So, I expect to see the whole amount of RAM is used under
'gnome-system-monitor / resources'

  4) [ I don't know how gnome-system-monitor calculates the amount of RAM. I
add the amount of all processes (maybe stupid?) and the result was less. ] When
the vmware player starts, the amount of used ram comes up a little. When the
virtual os starts, the amount of ram doesn't change. (it changes from 1,9gb to
2,1gb) The virtual os (windows in this test) said that they were using 1gb.
  5) I don't know what to hope:
- - hope that this is really a bug and I hadn't spam you
+ - hope that this is really a bug and I haven't spammed you
  - hope that windows task manager was wrong and actually windows uses 200mb of
ram in virtual(!)

-
- The reason I post that bug was that ubuntu freezes when opening three vmware
players alongside. From the gnome-system-monitor side of view, it didn't make
any sense to me (cpu low, ram low). From the task manager side of view.. I had
exceeded the amount of my ram (cpu low), which make sense. I hope that helps.
thank you :)

[Bug 1044974] Re: Rhythmbox hangs with stupid alert box when syncing iPod

2013-02-27 Thread Debra Virden
** Description changed:

Having deleted all the songs from my iPod Touch 16GB I was trying to put
another 10GB of songs back on.

Wasn't optimistic, thanks to Apple's obfuscated protocols, and sure
enough about a half hour later the whole thing had hung, with a blank
alert box and a greyed out screen. The music I was playing went on for a
bit, but even that has stopped now.

Screenshot attached below, and no, I didn't want 50 copies of Texas Put
your arms around me. Please don't take this as a sign of my musical
- tastes. It was a test run with my girlfriend's music and clearly a bug
- that it is somehow writing so many of the same track to the iPod, or
- maybe a visual glitch.

[Bug 1100587] Please test proposed package

2013-02-27 Thread Dave Walker
Hello Alec, or anyone else affected,

Accepted gnome-control-center into precise-proposed. The package will
build now and be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-
control-center/1:3.4.2-0ubuntu0.10 in a few hours, and then in the
-proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1107491] Re: gnome-system-monitor doesn't shows the real amount of RAM is used

2013-02-27 Thread Fusion
Summary (more clear)
---
What expected: Without any instance of vmware player running, 1,7gb RAM is
shown as “used” under gnome-system-monitor. When opening multiple vmware
players, the amount of RAM is shown under gnome-system-monitor changes. Eg. If
two vmware players were running (2gb RAM each), then about 5gb RAM is shown as
“used” under gnome-system-monitor.
---
What happened: Without any instance of vmware player running, 1,7gb RAM is
shown as “used” under gnome-system-monitor. When opening multiple vmware
players, the amount of RAM is shown under gnome-system-monitor didn't change.
Eg. If two vmware players were running (2gb RAM each), then about 1,9gb RAM is
shown as “used” under gnome-system-monitor.
---
Opinion: I suppose this is a bug. The reason: if amount of
“must-have-been-used-RAM” was calculated (by me), and I ran this size of
vmware-RAM, then my pc crashes. But gnome-system-monitor said that only 1,7Gb
of RAM was used.
Eg.
PC's RAM: 8Gb
each vmware player: 2Gb
system: about 2Gb
---RAM calculated by me
So, 2 vmware players + system → RAM: full ….. Real result: system crashes!
(reasonable result)
---RAM calculated by gnome-system-monitor
So, 2 vmware players + system → RAM: 1,9Gb ….. Real result: system crashes! (If
only 1,9Gb of RAM is used, why system crashes?)

[Bug 1135255] [NEW] nautilus global menubar menu disapears after running for about 6 days

2013-02-27 Thread Nathaniel Homier
Public bug reported:

After starting and logging in to unity3D desktop everything is fine.
After running for about 6 days or so, clicking on the nautilus icon in
the unity menu bar on the left opens the file manager as expected.
However when going to the nautilus global menu on the top panel, the
menus are gone and are replaced with a dark brown stub. See attached
screenshot. The only way I know how to get the menus back is by logging
out and then back in again.

[Bug 1135297] [NEW] Connection times out when transferring 2 GB+ of data across network.

2013-02-27 Thread Jasauders
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 13.04 64 bit, February 27th daily image. I installed this same
ISO on my laptop and desktop. On both of them if I copy at least 2 GB of
data over the network to a different location, they lock up right around
the 2 GB mark. The transfer stops and eventually I get an error citing
that the connection timed out. Whenever this happens it seems as if I
have to restart to regain network connectivity.

At first I thought this was a Nautilus or Samba thing, as it first
surfaced when I was pushing about 10 GB of data from my 13.04 desktop to
my 12.04 Ubuntu Server. However, I tried this using rsync over SSH and
it did the same thing, indicating it's not likely a Nautilus or Samba
issue.

I also thought it was the hardware of my desktop, but like I said, I
tried my laptop over wireless and it did the same exact thing. I've seen
it happen when the file transfer gets to 2.0 GB or 2.3 GB. Somewhere in
there is when I've seen the error pop up.

I ran dmesg on my desktop after this happened. I was spamming dmesg as
the data was being pushed over the network and I was getting the same
output each time, but the second the issue popped up is when the list of
DMA entries popped up.
