[Bug 984993] Re: gvfsd-gphoto2 crashed with SIGABRT in __libc_message()

2013-03-05 Thread Iain Lane
** Description changed:

+ [ Decscription ]

+ gvfsd-photo2 crashes with a segfault because a mutex is freed twice
+
+ This is currently #6 on errors.ubuntu.com:
+
+ https://errors.ubuntu.com/bucket/?id=%2Fusr%2Flib%2Fgvfs%2Fgvfsd-
+ gphoto2%3A***%20glibc%20detected%20***%20%2Fusr%2Flib%2Fgvfs%2Fgvfsd-

+
+ [ Test case ]
+
+ I don't have a clear reproducer; see that the crash dropps off on errors
+ with the SRUed version.
+
+ [ Regression Potential ]
+
+ Check that gvfs works correctly, and that no crashes appear on
+ errors.ubuntu.com
+
I clicked on update manager and it craps out.

[Bug 1142947] Re: epiphany-browser crashed with SIGSEGV in Decoder()

2013-03-05 Thread John S. Gruber
** Description changed:

Crash on browsing watching youtube video from http://ubuntuonair.com.
Expected it to play the whole hangout video but played less than a
minute. After restarting the browser it crashed again with another
random video off youtube in less than 10 seconds.

Also fails on lernid, which I'm testing, and midori--all webkit
  browsers.

Running today's live i386 CD from raring. (Today == 2013-3-3).

No flash installed and therefore I assume that it is using html 5.
Running flash in lernid and midori avoids the problem as webkit seems to
use it in preference to html5--but that's just my guess.

  To reproduce:

  Install raring
+ **Don't install flash**
Install ephiphany with 'sudo apt-get install epiphany-browser'
  Start epiphany from the terminal with epiphany http://ubuntuonair.com/#video;
Start the video and wait for the video to stop (coincident with the halt in
the video within a minute).

[Bug 1114606] Re: gvfsd-mtp crashed with SIGSEGV in LIBMTP_Open_Raw_Device_Uncached()

2013-03-05 Thread Philip Langdale
Are you trying to plug it into a USB3 port. There seems to be some
compatibility problem between the galaxy note and usb3 ports. It will
connect and then almost instantly disconnect afterwards - leading to
this crash - of course, it's not the crash that's stopping it working.

[Bug 495880] Re: Extracting a file with german Umlaut in the filename doesn't work

2013-03-05 Thread patrik.marxer
This bug is unresolved for 3 years now. It's quite annoying actually.
Rightclicking in Nautilusextract here doesn't work for me.
I have to go to the command line each time and enter $ unzip *

[Bug 1067876] Re: Missing Safely Remove Drive option from Quicklists. Only have Eject.

2013-03-05 Thread Norbert
I'm sorry, but this bug is not fixed in Raring (with latest proposed
udisks2 2.0.92-0ubuntu2).

My USB flash is still powered after eject. My USB HDD did not spin down after
unmount.
But if I manually enter in terminal the following command
udisks --detach /dev/sdc
flash led goes dark, HDD spins down.

I understand that it is not Ubuntu problem, it is an another example of
Gnomers simplicity fashion.

[Bug 840402] Re: Default Applications does not belong in System Info(Oneiric)/Details(Precise)

2013-03-05 Thread Lonnie Lee Best
Even if I agreed that most users would rarely need a dialog for
modifying default applications, that doesn't mean the dialog should be
unnecessarily hard to find.

Hit the super-key and type default applications. It returns nothing.

And, who would think to go to:
System Settings Details
in order to find this?

It shouldn't take a google search to locate this in Ubuntu!

[Bug 1071561] Re: [sound-nua] Bluetooth device not listed if change mode to Off

2013-03-05 Thread Jimmy Newtron
Hello guys 'n gals!

I'm using quantal over here. There's a .0ubuntu19.1 quantal-proposed
package to download here, but nothing's changed, so I can't test yet.
I'm waiting for a commit to quantal, and as soon as it's available, I'll
check it :D

Cheers

[Bug 1113648] Re: Add a context menu entry to create a new blank file

2013-03-05 Thread Rocko
I don't understand it either, but it's not Ubuntu's fault. The problem
is upstream: Canonical repackages the gnome desktop, and AFAICS the
gnome-devs have gone insane and think that removing commonly-used and
useful functionality will make gnome better. They therefore don't think
this is a bug - they did it on purpose! - which is why they have closed
the upstream bug as won't fix.

This bug is just one example in nautilus - do you notice that you can no
longer create a new folder using the right click if the nautilus window
is filled with file names? That there's no longer a status bar? That the
menu has most of its functionality removed - you can't even create a new
folder any more via the menu? That the tree view and split panes is no
longer there?

[Bug 903422] Re: Ubuntu does not work with Samsung Galaxy phones ( Unable to open raw device 0)

2013-03-05 Thread Philip Langdale
Dave,

Unfortunately, these newer Motorola devices appear as... wait for it...
a CDROM drive.

The CD image contains the installer for some windows software that they
want you to run, which will send a magic USB packet to the phone to
switch it into MTP mode. That's really what's going on. I haven't found
any useful information about this online, so it doesn't appear anyone's
reverse engineered the magic packet. Sad sad sad.

Philip Langdale [2013-03-06 4:57 -]:

That's quite common indeed; there is usb-modeswitch to get devices
from this useless fake CD-ROM to real UMS/MTP mode, so perhaps
usb-modeswitch-data needs to be updated for your model? It might help
to file a bug against usb-modeswitch-data, anyway.

It's not just a matter of rebuilding gvfs, something else seems missing.

[Bug 1148823] [NEW] /home/user/.gvfs unreadable

2013-03-05 Thread dino99
Public bug reported:

Genuine standard RR i386 installation, logged as gnome-classic
(fallback)

Into /home/user/.gvfs , when i check that file properties, i get:

- Basic tab : Content unreadable, Volume unknown
- Permissions tab : The permissions of .gvfs could not be determined.

I've reinstalled the gvfs related packages, but still get the same
issues. Using dpkg-reconfigure does not help.

So that file needs to be chowned, but i get:

oem@oem-desktop:~$ sudo chown oem:oem ~/.gvfs
chown: changing ownership of ‘/home/oem/.gvfs’: Function not implemented

[Bug 395922] Re: Please replace the disc with a supported cd or dvd

2013-03-05 Thread Christer
OMG! I can't burn an ISO.. What a painful software.. I have to open it in
terminal with force: 'sudo brasero'.
Otherwise it won't even run... And it's saying please insert a supported CD or
DVD.. Wtf? So CD-R isn't supported?!
This is unacceptable. How can they leave Brasero as the burning utility on
Ubuntu if it has this incredible bug???
And I have experienced it since at least 10.10, so there's obviously not anyone
working on it... Doesn't ANYONE using Ubuntu
burn disc images Why can't we get to the bottom of this with a working
solution already?
I tried the brasero --brasero-media-debug --debug brasero-debug.txt, but
it doesn't do anything...
