[Bug 186655] Re: Some pages appear blank when printing/previewing PDFs

2013-04-10 Thread Maximilian Klein
I'm currently affected by this bug.

I attached a PDF which, when printed, results in one blank page. I also
attached a PDF which somehow shortens the output when printed.

I used xelatex to compile these PDFs and if I remove more text, it seems
that less text is missing when printed. If I add more text to the PDF
only one blank page is printed.

I'm using Ubuntu 12.10 with
libpoppler 0.20.4-0ubuntu1.2
evince 3.6.0-0ubuntu2

[Bug 1167191] [NEW] stale gnome-power-manager.desktop file

2013-04-10 Thread Matthias Andree
Public bug reported:

gdm installs a gnome-power-manager.desktop file, but none of the
dependencies, nor gdm itself, install a gnome-power-manager
executable. This causes relevant logs during login because gnome-power-

[Bug 1067915] Re: gedit can't open a txt file

2013-04-10 Thread Chriki™
I’ve been facing a similar issue. For me the problem was that the
encoding of the file had changed since it was last opened with Gedit
(from WINDOWS-1252 to UTF-8). As I had manually set the encoding when
first opening the file, Gedit had saved this information and tried to
reuse it the next time I opened the file after the encoding change; this
resulted in said error message.

To fix the problem, I had to remove the saved encoding information from
the gvfs metadata like so:

gvfs-set-attribute --type unset MY_FILE.txt 'metadata::gedit-
encoding'

I have posted more information on this at
http://askubuntu.com/a/279820/137449.

[Bug 1165377] Re: Shortcut preferences are reset to defaults after login

2013-04-10 Thread Petr Gladkikh
Additional observations:
1. Custom shortcuts are preserved.
2. Seems that settings are stored in ~/.config/dconf/user and it's content is
changed when I change shortcut preferences. This file stays the same until I
login again.

As an attempt for workaround I changed permissions of
~/.config/dconf/user to read-only and after login this file is
overwritten anyway.

2013-04-10 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1167347] Re: Gnome online accounts does not include irc (for Empathy)

2013-04-10 Thread Matthew Butler
This is due to account-plugin-irc not being included in the packages
with the Ubuntu-Gnome (64-bit) image. The following are included by
default:

account-plugin-aim
account-plugin-facebook
account-plugin-flickr
account-plugin-generic-oauth
account-plugin-google
account-plugin-identica
account-plugin-jabber
account-plugin-salut
account-plugin-twitter
account-plugin-windows-live
account-plugin-yahoo

However account-plugin-irc is not included, and thus not available in
the Online Accounts.

[Bug 1167347] Re: Gnome online accounts does not include irc (for Empathy)

2013-04-10 Thread Matthew Butler
I am using Gnome-Shell, from the Ubuntu Gnome 13.04 (64-bit) beta image
(ie unity itself not installed).

I can reproduce with:

Open Empathy.
Click on Empathy Menu Accounts
Choose Add Account
-- IRC Is not listed.

Open Terminal.
run: sudo apt-get install account-plugin-irc
Open Empathy
Click on Empathy Menu Accounts
Choose Add Account
-- IRC is now available to be added to Empathy.

As mentioned previously I am using Ubuntu Gnome and these other UOA
packages are included.

account-plugin-aim
account-plugin-facebook
account-plugin-flickr
account-plugin-generic-oauth
account-plugin-google
account-plugin-identica
account-plugin-jabber
account-plugin-salut
account-plugin-twitter
account-plugin-windows-live
account-plugin-yahoo

Also see this bug for reference:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1040193

In particular note:
Empathy has been built to use ubuntu-online-accounts — to the extent that
Empathy will open that configuration panel when the user chooses Accounts from
its menu.

2013-04-10 Thread Doug McMahon
Sorry about that (the debdiff), seemed like the source just needed to be
rebuilt with no changes (didn't get why the control.in control deal happened.
As far as build deps thought that because python-dbus depends on
python-dbus-dev that it was ok for the build dep to remain on python-dbus
(can't install one without the other build log did show python-dbus-dev being
installed for LP build..

[Bug 1167417] [NEW] Computer sometimes wakes up immediately after suspend

2013-04-10 Thread Gorka Navarrete
Public bug reported:

My laptop generally suspends without problems but sometimes wakes up
immediately after suspend.

When it fails, you can see the screen going dark as if it were
suspending and an instant after the computer wakes up (screen unlocked).

This is with a Lenovo Y500 in a recently upgraded 13.04 (from 12.10,
where this problem also occurred).

Ctrl+Alt+L or Lock via the main menu does not lock the screen (nothing

Not sure if I should select the This bug is a security vulnerability
as the inability to lock the screen makes more difficult to leave the

[Bug 1167408] Re: Lock screen does not work

2013-04-10 Thread Gorka Navarrete
I am using a standard Ubuntu (with Unity) desktop 64-bit in a Lenovo
Y500.

Ctrl+Alt+L is listed as the keybinding for Lock Screen. Also, Clicking
Lock in the main menu does not work.

In 12.10 it worked for me in other computers but not in the Lenovo Y500.
The problem persists in 13.04 (after an upgrade).

[Bug 1167560] [NEW] Audio preview for split track is muted

2013-04-10 Thread Nicholas Skaggs
Public bug reported:

Doing an audio preview inside the split track menu for an audio cd
doesn't allow you to set the volume. In addition by default it seems to
be muted.

To reproduce:

Launch brasero
Start a new audio cd
Add a music file
Select the music file and click split track
Click the green play arrow
--- no sound is produced
Click the volume slider next to the track
--- it's set to muted, but doesn't allow adjustment

Is this some pulse/esound/alsa audio stack issue or something else?

[Bug 986983] Re: Opening Empthay from the Indicator also opens the Preference window

2013-04-10 Thread Andreas Fritiofson
Why was this marked invalid? It's an obvious bug which can be reproduced
like in comment #8.

In short, after running empathy -p once, the preference windows opens
every time the empathy windows is raised by executing empathy, even
without the -p.

Interestingly, even when starting using the option
-h, --start-hidden Don't display the contact list or any other dialogs
on startup
the preferences dialog still pops up.

I can confirm this issue on 12.04.2.

This also needs testing on Quantal and Raring.

[Bug 1069843] Re: Nautilus consuming memory and cpu

2013-04-10 Thread Adnan Hodzic
Samarjit,

I have the same problem on my Debian (Sid/Wheezy) machines with GNOME
3.8/3.4 *without* even having compiz installed.

Same problem on Ubuntu 12.10/13.04 with Unity and GNOME 3.8/3.6 ...

[Bug 890747] Re: Keyboard shortcut - Ctrl Alt Del doesn't do what most people typing it would expect

2013-04-10 Thread MC Return
The Compiz solution for this would be the easiest and can be applied by
anyone interested:

0. Enable CCSM-Commands plugin
1. Open CCSM-Commands-Commands tab
2. Enter this into the Command line 0 field: gnome-system-monitor
3. Go to Key Bindings tab
4. Set Run command 0 to Ctrl+Alt+Del

Voila. You're done. Compiz will take over the shortcut and Ctrl+Alt+Del
will open the system monitor from now on.

[Bug 1167642] [NEW] 13.04 login: lagging after password entry for several seconds

2013-04-10 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When I login to my Ubuntu 13.04 beta2 (std Unity) session, after I enter
the password, there is a deferral of some seconds which is not there on
my 12.04. LTS partition.

Can this be related to the dmesg outpu?:

[ 37.101785] systemd-logind[2350]: Failed to save seat data for seat0: No

[Bug 986269] Re: Unable to open a folder for 10 GB Filesystem, No application is registered as handling this file... or Nautilus pops browser when partition is mounted in bash script

2013-04-10 Thread bcbc
Retested this. The problem doesn't occur on 12.10 or 13.04.

It still happens on 12.04.2, which is using with nautilus 3.4.2.

Actually 12.10 is also using nautilus 3.4.2. So maybe this isn't a
nautilus bug after all. In 12.04.2 the window pops up but nothing
changes in the Unity bar.

In 12.10, there is a drive icon for the partition being mounted which
disappears when I mount it on /mnt. and reappears when I unmount it.
So... now I'm thinking this is actually a Unity bug in 12.04.2.

[Bug 1167710] [NEW] Location bar oscillates on mouseover
