[Bug 1174649] [NEW] File Roller cannot re-author APK archives
Public bug reported: I have an APK (an archive which contains an Android application) which I created using the standard Android Developer Tools. It opens fine and I can extract the contents, but I have real problems, and unusual errors, when trying to add or modify contents. Every attempt I make to add either a folder or a file to the archive causes the popup error... An error occurred while adding files to the archive. ...whilst file-roller reports to Standard Error... ** (file-roller:1801): WARNING **: Error making symbolic link: File exists This also happens if I delete the target file or folder from the archive before trying to upload a new one. I've been attempting to simply replace some of the files in the archive with more up-to-date ones, without having to rebuild the app from scratch with the dev tools (I don't have access to the source and tools right now). I only need to change one line in a html file, and replace four icons. The tool should be capable of managing this archive, and indeed I found a workaround, which is to use the .cache/ mounting of the archive to rsync a load of changes into the folder structure. In my case it was... sudo rsync --recursive ./res/drawable-* /home/cefn/.cache/.fr-LedBmX/res/ ...a path which I figured out by opening a file with a text editor or image viewer, which then reveals the auto-generated path to this archive's temporarily mounted directories via the Save As dialog. Then file-roller helpfully asks if I want to synchronize the changes on disk with the archive. I say yes, and the archive is updated. However, this workaround is not really usable for most people. N.B. at the time I was running file-roller with sudo as I wondered whether there was a permissions problem, but the same happens without sudo. [Bug 1174655] [NEW] reimplement support for external modules.
Public bug reported: In gnome-3.8 support for external panels has been removed. I have written a patch to re-implement these, however it has the following limitations. - modules (i.e. panels with .so files) need to have the desktop file name gnome-'module'-panel.desktop. Although I currently have a fallback in place for 'module'-ccpanel.desktop, since a few extensions seem to use that also. - launchers (i.e things like language), are loaded from a static list of file names, which is within the patch. I really didn’t want to haul the gmenu code back in. So this seems like a good comprise. A number of tweaks will need to be made to various desktop files however: + language-selector: needs an independent desktop file for panel laucher, so we can hide it in Ubuntu GNOME g-c-c, but not apps search + ubuntu privacy panel: needs to be set to OnlyShowIn=Unity. + ubuntu appearance panel: needs desktop file renamed to suit above format + deja-dup and privacy: should be renamed to gnome-*-panel format. + there maybe a few others, I havent really done a thorough check here. - there was a macro, CC_PANEL_REGISTER which is now renamed CC_PANEL_REGISTER_EXTERNAL, I am not sure if any extensions use this, but if they do that will need to be changed. package with patches is at ppa:darkxst/logind for now ** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: gnome-3-8 saucy ** Tags added: gnome-3-8 saucy -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1174655 Title: reimplement support for external modules. [Bug 1174830] [NEW] Display starts up with wrong screen orientation on thinkpad X230 tablet
Public bug reported: I'm quite lost as to with package I should report this issue. I report it against gnome-control-center because this is where screen settings are made. Please help and direct this report to the right place. Thank you. On a Lenovo thinkpad X230 tablet, one of the bezel buttons is bound to rotating the screen in steps of 90°. This is an improvement in raring compared to quantal, because in quantal, this button did not work at all. However, when I rotate the screen using this bezel button, shut down and reboot, the display starts up rotated 90° to the right, compared with what it was on shutdown. This is not a serious problem, but very inconvenient. It startles you quite a bit booting your computer and seeing the login screen rotated to the right. (Even the more as the touch display orientation is not changed in the same way, but that's another bug.) This problem does not appear, when the screen orientation is changed via the Display dialog from the control center. Just when using the bezel button. [Bug 1173150] [NEW] Can't turn off 'Airplane Mode' after toggling hardware wifi switch
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Airplane Mode is stuck on 'On' after I turn off + turn on wifi via the hardware switch on my laptop (Asus N53SV-S1827V), resulting in having no wifi. If I go to 'Network' and turn off Airplane Mode the switch does flip visually (though wifi doesn't start connecting), but when I reopen the Network window the switch depicts Airplane mode to be on again. I tried 'sudo rfkill unblock all' but this doesn't solve it. I have to restart my laptop after which Airplane Mode is still on, but now I can effectively toggle the switch in the Network window. This results in a crash of the Network window, but wifi starts to connect again and when reopening the Network window it shows that Airplane Mode is off. The above behavior doesn't happen when I turn off wifi via the software switch, so it must be related to toggling the hardware switch. [Bug 1111397] Re: Executable files do not launch in 13.04
Hi, For me this is a bug, the fix should be applied to the original package, so 13.04 and future ubuntu installations will not suffer from this. There is no sense with behavior 'View executable text files' selected by default for a regular user. Shellscripts are commonly used to launch other executables, so a regular user will expect that double clicking on a given application executable (being script or ELF) will launch an application instead of gedit showing 'strange programming mambojambo'. I will give you an example: here in Portugal, we pay our taxes using an official application that is downloaded from a goverment site. The application is developed in java and it worked flawlessly with ubuntu. The application is packaged inside a special script file that will auto-extract the application content to a selected installation dir (by the way the application launcher is also a shellscript). So a regular user when double clicking this script, a gigant script will be opened in gedit! This really doesn't make any sense from a regular user prespective. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/397 Title: Executable files do not launch in 13.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/397/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Bodum, I can confirm the problem doesn't exist in kubuntu 13.04 using dolphin as the file manager. In fact I don't know where they are for kubuntu. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1075923 Title: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gvfs/+bug/1075923/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1170832] Re: Facebook Requires Authorization when already authorized
I've been having this problem on both computers, one running 12.10 and one running 13.04. Google Talk and MSN Messenger have often requested me to re-validate, too, but that's it, it works. With Facebook you have to go through hoops and prayers to see if today is the lucky day it will work. It seems like Empathy is regressing with each new version. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1170832 Title: Facebook Requires Authorization when already authorized To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/1170832/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
