[Bug 1181703] [NEW] Last upgrade broke keyboard layouts configuration

2013-05-19 Thread Shahar Or
Public bug reported:

Dear friends,

Today, after running an upgrade, my layout switching key combo
(Alt+Shift) didn't switch layouts.

I solved this by adding a third layout and removing it.

Perhaps a new configuration format was introduced and not handled in the
upgrade?

Thanks,

[Bug 982889] Re: X trying to start before plymouth has finished using the drm driver

2013-05-19 Thread Miklos Juhasz
The proposed version of lightdm/plymouth did not fix the issue for me. Lightdm
sometimes fails to start, see Xorg log attached.
For now I had to put back the and stopped udevtrigger workaround into
/etc/init/lightdm.conf. With that lightdm never failed to start for me.

[Bug 988290] [NEW] Resolution change with KVM switch on Precise

2013-05-19 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I have a machine that shares monitor, keyboard and mouse with a second
machine via a standard KVM-Switch (USB/VGA). After updating to precise
beta yesterday, I noticed that, after having worked with the other
machine for a while and switching back to the precise machine, screen
resolution has changed to 800x600. Just opening Monitors from gnome-
system-settings restores the original resolution of 1280x1024, you don't
need to change anything.

This is reproducible, if you switch away from the machine long enough (I
guess until the screensaver gets invoked) resolution will be changed
when you come back. This was not the case with oneiric.

Is there some way to disable this behaviour?

[Bug 988290] Re: Resolution change with KVM switch on Precise

2013-05-19 Thread Dave Gilbert
I merged 1037895 into this

Changing from the intel xserver to gnome-screensaver; from the reports it
doesn't seem to be Intel specific.
Whether it's actually gnome-screensaver or something else seems to be difficult
to tell; most people seem to be saying removing it helps them, but #30 is not
sure; but the conclusion seems to be other desktops don't suffer from it.

However, the fact that xrandr reprobe causes it to sort out seems to
suggest it might not be the screensavers problem?

I've been too lazy to try go-mtpfs, up until now.
It just works flawlessly with Galaxy Nexus / Android 4.2.2, unlike libmtp and
its ecosystem (gmtp, rhythmbox, nautilus).

This is a basic feature and on a 'wishlist' for more than 4 years.
What's the point of groups if you can't edit, rename and order them? It should
make accessing your contacts more easily, not more cumbersome.

[Bug 946095] Re: font not visible in terminal plugin

2013-05-19 Thread Adam Dingle
I investigated since I wanted to understand what was going on here. I
thought this was probably an Ambiance-related theme issue, but I was
wrong. (I've also posted the following explanation at the upstream
ticket at https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=694598 .)

Back in GNOME 2.32, both gedit and gnome-terminal stored settings in GConf. At
that time the gedit terminal plugin looked at gnome-terminal's GConf settings
to read the default profile information to find out what colors to use. You
can see that code here:

https://git.gnome.org/browse/gedit-
plugins/tree/plugins/terminal/terminal.py?h=gnome-2-32

Then in GNOME 3.0 gedit ported over to GSettings, but gnome-terminal was still
using GConf. The terminal plugin could no longer easily look at the
gnome-terminal profile info, so the terminal plugin just started using the
default colors from the VTE terminal widget (which look poor, hence this bug).
At that time the terminal plugin code added this FIXME line:

   def get_profile_settings(self):
#FIXME return either the gnome-terminal settings or the gedit one
return Gio.Settings.new(org.gnome.gedit.plugins.terminal)

Now, finally, in GNOME 3.8 gnome-terminal has been ported to use
GSettings:

  https://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-terminal/tree/NEWS?h=gnome-3-8

So it should now be possible to fix this bug by having the terminal
plugin read profile information from GSettings.

Static versions works fine.
Unfortunately there is no static binary of the latest version available:

At least it works correctly with libpurple...

[Bug 872054] Re: Cannot shutdown/restart with multiple users logged in

2013-05-19 Thread Sylvain Corlay
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 861171 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/861171

Hello, I have a similar issue with a fresh install of raring (13.04).

When several users are logged in, shutting down from an account is equivalent
to logging off.
If at least one user is logged in, shutting down from the log-in screen hangs
indefinitely.

Cheers,

[Bug 861171] Re: Shutdown from greeter does nothing when multiple accounts open

2013-05-19 Thread Sylvain Corlay
This bug affects me on a fresh install of raring.
The difference with what has been described so far is that if (at least) one
user is logged in, and I try to shutdown from the loggin screen, it hangs
forever. Can we expect to have a fix released for raring soon?

[Bug 982889] Re: X trying to start before plymouth has finished using the drm driver

2013-05-19 Thread Steve Langasek
Miklos, please confirm the version numbers of both lightdm and plymouth
that you have installed, and please verify that all of the upstart job
files for both of these packages are the unmodified versions from the
package. If you already had a modified /etc/init/lightdm.conf on your
system, perhaps you didn't get the new version correctly installed?
