[Bug 1168467] Re: phy0 - rt2800pci_mcu_status: Error AND [drm:gen6_sanitize_pm] *ERROR*
This bug should be critical I am having random crashes. Looking in the syslogs attached below. I had 2 black screen crashes and 1 frozen screen crash. Which of the many error messages are leading to the crash. The (a) occurred 6 times. The (b) notification occurred 1000s times. I am not sure if (a) and (b) are related bc they both talking about power. What I am certain is that lately ubuntu 12.04 crashes 2-4 times per day and I do not see that this is being worked on. I see other ppl seeing this bug. I would like to call this bug critical. [Bug 1165590] Re: Unable to adjust backlight brightness after upgrade to raring - Asus UX32VD
I have an Asus N56VJ that exhibited the same behavior on 12.10. I installed kernel 3.7.0-7 from Xorg-edgers and the F5-F6 backlight keys now work correctly. I consider the backlight adjustment to be critical as in a dimly lit room, the screen is so bright it hurts your eyes. I tried a 13.04 live distro from one of the magazine DVDs. Activating the backlight keys showed the previous incorrect behaviour as described in this bug. The Bios on this N56VJ is verion 203 and that is the only one shown on the Asus web site. I asked Asus support if there was a 214 update for this model and they said no. [Bug 1194136] [NEW] Importing songs from network is slow since 13.04

[Bug 859600] Re: Please convert gnome-keyring to multiarch
So, my take ;). This patch just splits the pkcs11 library away from gnome-keyring binary package and leaves the rest of the packages alone. I still don't see the use case for doing more, the warning when wine is started will be gone with this patch. And as far as I can tell, libgcr is still not multiarch on raring. For the testcase, I'd say this should be something like that: [Test case] (on an amd64 system) 1. Run the command 'wine notepad'. Notice the warning from p11-kit. 2. sudo apt-get install libp11-kit-gnome-keyring:i386 3. Run the command 'wine notepad' again. [Bug 1194188] [NEW] When using UOA, it's impossible to add any gmail-based account on Evolution
Public bug reported: I'm using Ubuntu Online Accounts in my system, but if I try to configure a new gmail-based account through the Evolution accounts wizard, at the end of the process, nothing happens: evolution doesn't show my new account, and UOA is not asking for the credentials (only the evolution configuration files mention it). The only way I've found to use a gmail account (both with gmail.com and a custom domain) in evolution is to configure it from UOA g-c-c panel. [Bug 1177632] Re: gnome-screensaver causes jump in compiz events

[Bug 1194329] [NEW] inspiron crashes unexpectadly few times per day in 12.04
Public bug reported: 2013/06/24 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System - About Ubuntu lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS Release:12.04 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname' or by checking in Software Center I do not know what package is causing crash but syslogs is saying that drm (direct rendering manager) is generating errors. 3) What you expected to happen I do not not expect any crashes. 4) What happened instead computer crashes unexpectadly few times per day. (5) I sent the ubuntu-bug -w. It was saying that this is new install of ubuntu. That is not correc. The ubuntu is here about 7 months. (6) I see no files in /var/crash/ This person (see link) has very similar crashes so I would call it confirmation of a problem. I believe that drm (direct rendering manager) is sick. This link is a person showing same problems as I do implicating drm. http://askubuntu.com/questions/300147/how-can-i-troubleshoot-why-ubuntu-keeps-crashing-on-my-laptop/312343#312343 My story. I have DELL Inspiron 14z. Run Ubuntu 12.04. Gnome classic. I have installed VMWare and other things. Today I have uninstalled VMware tools, but I still see the errors, although so far in 6 hours the computer did not crash. That can change at any time. Have been running 12.04 on this hw from the time I got the computer for about 7 months. It was well behaved for most time. Few weeks ago (May 2013?) it started to crash once a week and then started to crash more. Some bad days crashes 3 times in one day. I suspected heat problem and replaced fan+sink and also updated BIOS but the computer still crashed after those changes. Ubuntu is updating itself every night. My story is similar to Peter on the link above. My computer worked fine, then few weeks ago started to crash with either complete shutdown on frozen desktop. At one time this was the last message in the log file before it crashed completely. I have two types of errors like Peter and both caused by drm (direct rendering manager). As you can see from the gap in time this was the last error before system died. pre Jun 23 18:50:54 mycomputer bluetoothd[904]: Endpoint unregistered: sender=:1.32 path=/MediaEndpoint/A2DPSink Jun 23 18:51:42 mycomputer kernel: [ 111.363166] [drm:gen6_sanitize_pm] *ERROR* Power management discrepancy: GEN6_RP_INTERRUPT_LIMITS expected 1707, was 1700 //see time gap before reboot Jun 23 18:55:31 mycomputer kernel: [ 340.123935] CPU2: Package power limit notification (total events = 229) /pre But note that on that day I saw this error 6 times but the system crashed only 3 times. I also like Peter have another error: pre Jun 23 19:21:55 mycomputer kernel: [ 36.323966] [drm] Driver supports precise vblank timestamp query. Jun 23 19:21:55 mycomputer kernel: [ 36.324114] [drm:intel_dsm_platform_mux_info] *ERROR* MUX INFO call failed /pre Both of these errors are caused by drm (direct rendering manager). The sanitize_pm seems to be more correlated with crashes. It occurred 6 times in one day. There were 3 crashes, 2 were dead computer, 1 was dead desktop). One of the 6 errors was the last log message before computer died. Thank you for listening. If you need more info pls ask. [Bug 1168467] Re: phy0 - rt2800pci_mcu_status: Error AND [drm:gen6_sanitize_pm] *ERROR*
chenzero: question for you. I am seeing this error also and my computer crashes. My computer eaither completely crashes or sometimes the desktop freezes. This error may occur 6 times, but the computer crashed only 3 times. Once this error was the last thing the computer wrote into syslog before it crashed. But interestingly the error does not always lead to crash. For example today I see I have the error 14 times but it did not crash yet. I would be interested in knowing if the PPA upgrade stopped your crashes (chenzero) after having it for about 10 weeks. [Bug 859600] Re: Please convert gnome-keyring to multiarch
Yes, I've been holding back on a Wine SRU because I wanted it to integrate this fix. Similarly, I will also want to backport wine1.6 to precise when it releases within a few weeks, and it would be very nice to have this done by then. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-keyring in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/859600 Title: Please convert gnome-keyring to multiarch To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-keyring/+bug/859600/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1075923] Re: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share
Could this be a handshake/timing problem? I've experienced this problem on 3 different computers, a 15 yr old IBM ThinkPad notebook, a Compaq notebook with a Celeron 560 CPU, an HP desktop with a dual core E5300 CPU, and noticed that the IBM was most affected and along with the Compaq unable to play a video file off the NAS, the HP was less often affected and could sometimes play a video off the NAS as long as I did not advance the slider several minutes into the video. I just replaced the old IBM notebook with a Samsung NP700G7C having a quad core i7-3630QM CPU and have yet to be affected by the problem, able to transfer more than 36GB of files from the NAS without a problem and able to play videos directly off the NAS without locking up. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1075923 Title: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gvfs/+bug/1075923/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 859600] Re: Please convert gnome-keyring to multiarch
** Description changed: [Impact] Several applications are relying on this package as seen in comments 5 and 6. [Test case] - Attempt to install both i386/amd64 versions and preferably verify if the reported applications in this bug are able to run successfully + Attempt to install both i386/amd64 versions of libp11-kit-gnome-keyring and preferably verify if the reported applications in this bug are able to run successfully. + + 1. Run the command 'wine notepad'. Notice the warning from p11-kit. + 2. sudo apt-get install libp11-kit-gnome-keyring:i386 + 3. Run the command 'wine notepad' again. Notice that the warning is gone. [Regression Potential] Minimal, several rdepends build testing have been completed successfully and nothing in the keyring code is attempting to dlopen any hardcoded library paths. gnome-keyring is still installing libraries to /usr/lib instead of the multarch compatible /usr/lib/$(DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH) directory. The attached patch does the conversion.
[Bug 1194363] [NEW] gvfsd-http uses amounts of memory that are beyond the pale
Public bug reported: Process 2662 - gvfsd-http Summary The process gvfsd-http (with pid 2662) is using approximately 164.1 MB of memory. It is using 164.0 MB privately, and a further 900.0 KB that is, or could be, shared with other programs. Dividing up the shared memory between all the processes sharing that memory we get a reduced shared memory usage of 44.0 KB. Adding that to the private usage, we get the above mentioned total memory footprint of 164.1 MB. 879.1 MB is swapped out to disk, probably due to a low amount of available memory left. Library Usage The memory usage of a process is found by adding up the memory usage of each of its libraries, plus the process's own heap, stack and any other mappings, plus the stack of its 4 threads.
