@eraserix: gnome-keyring is marked Multi-Arch: foreign so that, for example, an amd64 gnome-keyring can satisfy an i386 package's dependency on it. The version numbers in Breaks and Replaces look wrong to me too. This bug should be critical I am having random crashes. Looking in the syslogs attached below. I had 2 black screen crashes and 1 frozen screen crash. Which of the many error messages are leading to the crash. The (a) occurred 6 times. The (b) notification occurred 1000s times. I am not sure if (a) and (b) are related bc they both talking about power. What I am certain is that lately ubuntu 12.04 crashes 2-4 times per day and I do not see that this is being worked on. I see other ppl seeing this bug. I would like to call this bug critical. I have an Asus N56VJ that exhibited the same behavior on 12.10. I installed kernel 3.7.0-7 from Xorg-edgers and the F5-F6 backlight keys now work correctly. I consider the backlight adjustment to be critical as in a dimly lit room, the screen is so bright it hurts your eyes. I tried a 13.04 live distro from one of the magazine DVDs. Activating the backlight keys showed the previous incorrect behaviour as described in this bug. The Bios on this N56VJ is verion 203 and that is the only one shown on the Asus web site. I asked Asus support if there was a 214 update for this model and they said no. Public bug reported: I'm using Ubuntu Online Accounts in my system, but if I try to configure a new gmail-based account through the Evolution accounts wizard, at the end of the process, nothing happens: evolution doesn't show my new account, and UOA is not asking for the credentials (only the evolution configuration files mention it). The only way I've found to use a gmail account (both with gmail.com and a custom domain) in evolution is to configure it from UOA g-c-c panel. I think that Evolution should at least notify the user that it's impossible to add a such account, instead of just failing silently. I built a gnome-keyring package for Precise in my PPA:

It is adam-stokes' last attempt plus the following changes:
- Change gnome-keyring's Recommends on libp11-kit-gnome-keyring
to Depends.
- Change libp11-kit-gnome-keyring's Breaks and Replaces on
gnome-keyring to ( ${binary:Version}).
@eraserix: I agree that installing libp11-kit-gnome-keyring:i386 is
correct for the test case, not gnome-keyring:i386 as it contains the
executables and is not co-installable.

The point of the testing is to use eventstat to find things causing lots of wakeups, which could have an impact on power consumption and battery life. So working around the bug would kind of defeat the purpose of testing. (6) I see no files in /var/crash/ This person (see link) has very similar crashes so I would call it confirmation of a problem. I believe that drm (direct rendering manager) is sick. I have DELL Inspiron 14z. Run Ubuntu 12.04. Gnome classic. I have installed VMWare and other things. Today I have uninstalled VMware tools, but I still see the errors, although so far in 6 hours the computer did not crash. That can change at any time. Have been running 12.04 on this hw from the time I got the computer for about 7 months. It was well behaved for most time. Few weeks ago (May 2013?) it started to crash once a week and then started to crash more. Some bad days crashes 3 times in one day. I suspected heat problem and replaced fan+sink and also updated BIOS but the computer still crashed after those changes. Ubuntu is updating itself every night. My story is similar to Peter on the link above. My computer worked fine, then few weeks ago started to crash with either complete shutdown on frozen desktop. At one time this was the last message in the log file before it crashed completely. I have two types of errors like Peter and both caused by drm (direct rendering manager). chenzero: question for you. I am seeing this error also and my computer crashes. My computer eaither completely crashes or sometimes the desktop freezes. This error may occur 6 times, but the computer crashed only 3 times. Once this error was the last thing the computer wrote into syslog before it crashed. But interestingly the error does not always lead to crash. For example today I see I have the error 14 times but it did not crash yet. I would be interested in knowing if the PPA upgrade stopped your crashes (chenzero) after having it for about 10 weeks. Could this be a handshake/timing problem? I've experienced this problem on 3 different computers, a 15 yr old IBM ThinkPad notebook, a Compaq notebook with a Celeron 560 CPU, an HP desktop with a dual core E5300 CPU, and noticed that the IBM was most affected and along with the Compaq unable to play a video file off the NAS, the HP was less often affected and could sometimes play a video off the NAS as long as I did not advance the slider several minutes into the video. It is using 164.0 MB privately, and a further 900.0 KB that is, or could be, shared with other programs. Dividing up the shared memory between all the processes sharing that memory we get a reduced shared memory usage of 44.0 KB.
