Re: [Bug 296867] Re: empathy needs to support OTR encryption

2013-07-24 Thread Sam Liddicott
@Bengt Lüers
I agree with all your points.
But none of the empathy dev want to do it.
No-one who is capable of doing it wants to do it.
I was just trying to summarise why that might be the case.

[Bug 1204296] [NEW] Can't print an image at more than 100% size (UNBELIEVABLE)

2013-07-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

NO IDEA WHAT PACKAGE THIS IS: I just chose cups because it's related
to printing

- open an image in the Image Viewer
- do image/print
- go to the image settings tab
- try to amplify the image

= YOU CAN'T!
The maximum is always 100%. Why? That's stupid. For MOST images moreover (any
image that was not scanned), there is no sensible notion of a physical size
(the dpi resolution is completely arbitrary), so the notion of 100% is totally
random.
Not being able to increase size to more than 100% is almost as huge as not
being able to print. It's among the most nonsense limits I've ever seen.

Maybe it's somewhere else, perhaps in advanced, but it should be
possible from this very tab. Wher you can reduce size, you must also be
able to increase it.

[Bug 1204378] [NEW] Copy files from mounted cpio does not work

2013-07-24 Thread Fable Fox
Public bug reported:

I double click on a cpio files, causing it to be mounted? on the files
app, so I can click on it and view the files inside. However, when I
copy a folder inside it and to paste it into normal folder, the copy
process doesn't work at all.

It says 0 byte of 600 mb 0 byte per second.

If I click on big X (to the right) the button goes dark but it wasn't
cancelled (the window still there).

Clicking on the tiny x (upper left) doesn't close (just hide / minimize)
or cancel it either, and can still be accessed by right clicking on the
Files icon and select show copy dialog.

[Bug 52654] Re: Evolution will not use GNOME proxy settings of http_proxy environment variable to access Exchange via WebDAV

2013-07-24 Thread Andrea Corbellini
From the upstream bug
[https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=307589#c25]:

evolution-exchange only supports the older Microsoft Exchange server versions
2000 and 2003. The last stable release of evolution-exchange was 3.4.4 which
took place a year ago.

evolution-exchange is now deprecated and not under active development
anymore.

It is unlikely that there will be any further active development.

Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping.

Please feel free to reopen this bug report in the future if anyone takes the
responsibility for active development again.

[Bug 1201390] Re: Window moves up and down continuously

2013-07-24 Thread WaffleSouffle
This is also occurring in any window e.g. Terminal window and Eclipse.

Turning off 3d Acceleration in VirtualBox seems to eliminate the
problem, but then Workspaces/Windows are slow to switch between.

[Bug 1164016] Re: restore type-ahead find

2013-07-24 Thread Andrew Simpson
To add my voice to this bug, I installed 13.04 today, on my work
computer (previously Windows 7 only), to enable me to use a variety of
bash scripts to process a large number of files on an external ext3
drive. At home I have 12.10 installed.

The files are images, several thousand per folder, stored in dated
folders (such as 11-04-23-country_location). Now I know, for example,
that I was in Belgium in May 2005, so I type '05-05' and a folder NEAR
the one I want was previously highlighted, allowing me to quickly and
easily find the correct folder. A related task is to go to the next, and
previous, folders. Both of these uses are broken with the new search
set-up.

The Gnome team's total brick-walling of the furious users should give
pause for thought. I simply cannot believe they have shot themselves in
the foot so categorically as to make the staple piece of software, that
underpins their entire user interface, so crippled.

This is a far more serious usability issue than anything thrown up with
the migration to Unity. I would rate it, probably, as the highest, most
disruptive user interface bug I have ever come across in Ubuntu (and
I've been with you since Warty).

The workaround linked by M4he above is good news, but the idea of having
to install a patch to get basic file-browser functionality is insane.
Even more insane than firing up Mac OSX and being faced with the
abomination that is Finder.

Sebastian, it's great news that Ubuntu are listening, and seeing this as
an issue, and I hope a proper solution is forthcoming. At what point
does a frankly bizarre upstream user interface decision like this become
priority #1 at Canonical? When it begins to compromise the very good
work being done with Unity? When does it become worth moving a developer
from Unity onto an issue like this?

[Bug 1204407] Re: Translation bug. Locale Russian.

2013-07-24 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Thanks for reporting this issue and help making Ubuntu better.

From what I can see, the string in question in the gnome-games package
is https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/quantal/+source/gnome-
games/+pots/gnome-games/ru/500/+translate

Please note that starting with Ubuntu 13.04, mahjongg (and the rest of the
gnome-games) were split into separate packages. For that package, the string is
https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/raring/+source/gnome-mahjongg/+pots/gnome-mahjongg/ru/8/+translate,
though that seems to have been fixed already.

Re: [Bug 682788] Re: Improve Unity Global Menu

2013-07-24 Thread Aleve Sicofante
I'm confused.

This bug can only be solved in future versions of Unity. Since current is
Unity 7 and the design hasn't been changed, our first hopes go to Unity 8,
where Compiz won't be used at all. So unless Unity 7 introduces the desired
behavior in 13.10, which seems unlikely (since nobody has even mentioned it
so far) what exactly does all this Compiz fix at a later release means at
all???

2013/7/22 papukaija 682...@bugs.launchpad.net

It means that the work/fix has been postponed to a later release of
 Compiz.

[Bug 1204642] [NEW] Totem grab subtitles from the different video.

2013-07-24 Thread Shunsuke Akagi
Public bug reported:

Totem grab wrong subtitles from the different video file.
I am not sure how it works but here I discribe what would happen.
At first, play a mp4 video file with srt subtitles.
then click and drag another mkv video file with subtitles into totem.
the second video will be played with the subtitles from the former video file.
I tried several thing while I am writing this.
I played avi file without subtitle.
then I played the fourth different mkv file now I see the subtitles from the
first video.
So I suspect only the first mp4 video has valid subtitles.
