[Bug 1220166] [NEW] Gnome-session-fallback: mouse click events on title bars fall through to windows in the background
Public bug reported: I'm on ubuntu 13.04 amd64, I switched from unity to gnome-session- fallback to get the classic taskbar, etc. Problem: when clicking anything in the title bar (text, close/minimize/maximize buttons) for some applications, the click event seems to fall through to the window beneath, and the window comes in focus and receives the click event. This happens ONLY WITH MAXIMIZED windows. So for instance, if I clicked 'close' in a maximized thunderbird, and there happens to be a maximized gedit beneath it, the gedit will be closed instead. Steps to reproduce: 1. Alf-F2, type . and hit Enter -- nautilus opens the home folder 2. maximize nautilus 3. click anywhere in its titlebar Results: - the titlebar dims showing it lost focus - the click fell through to the desktop, or to the window behind nautilus Apps which exhibit this bug: - tortoisehg - nautilus -- the fs browser Apps which do not exhibit the bug: - firefox - gimp - thunderbird - gnome-terminal - pidgin - gedit - archive manager FWIW, I removed the top gnome panel and only left the bottom panel with some quick launch icons, taskbar and indicator applet. ** Affects: gnome-panel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: gnome-session-fallback nautilus tortoisehg -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-panel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1220166 Title: Gnome-session-fallback: mouse click events on title bars fall through to windows in the background To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-panel/+bug/1220166/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 410636] Re: Right-click should not pre-light first option, too easy to accidentally select the first Context-menu option.
I met with the same problem on my Ubuntu 13.04 laptop. I'd like to post a partial/possible solution here in case that someone want to try. Here is the problem. Inside Google Chrome, sometimes when you right click (for only once) on a web page, it will behave like you double right clicked and as a result it navigate back. (`Back` is the first menu item on the context menu). When does the problem occur. It happens that the problem does not occur with Ubuntu 13.04's built-in themes: Ambiance, Highconstrast, Radiance. When I installed and activated third-party themes like Uncomplicated, Flatsutdio, Mediterraneanlight, etc the problem does occur. The possible cause of the problem. https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=591258 The solution. After hours search and research, I found why the built-in themes won't be affected. In these themes, a little padding is added to the top of menus. When you right click on the padding, it won't activate the first menu item. That's it. So we can add that to other theme by simply adding (or modifying) GtkMenu ::vertical-padding = 3 to PathOfTheTheme/gtk-2.0/gtkrc, under `style default` section. You could refer to /usr/share/themes/Ambiance/gtk-2.0/gtkrc. Hope it helps. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gtk+2.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/410636 Title: Right-click should not pre-light first option, too easy to accidentally select the first Context-menu option. I believe the bug I've seen is related to Bug #1004515, but not sure how it is related to this bug. just post here in case someone can make sense of it. fangq@wazu:~$ ls -alt | more total 15992 drwxr-x--- 138 fangq fangq16384 Sep 3 13:30 . -rw--- 1 fangq fangq0 Sep 3 13:30 .goutputstream-8P402W -rw-r--r-- 1 fangq fangq 35 Sep 3 13:30 .pam_environment -rw-r--r-- 1 fangq fangq0 Sep 3 13:30 sedP678ir -rw--- 1 fangq fangq0 Sep 3 13:12 .goutputstream-YAHQ2W -rw-r--r-- 1 fangq fangq0 Sep 3 13:12 sedHOLePA -rw--- 1 fangq fangq0 Sep 3 13:10 .goutputstream-NXX42W -rw-r--r-- 1 fangq fangq0 Sep 3 13:10 sedwABtEH -rw--- 1 fangq fangq0 Sep 3 12:58 .goutputstream-43DV2W -rw-r--r-- 1 fangq fangq0 Sep 3 12:58 sedmB4jfg -rw--- 1 fangq fangq0 Sep 3 12:54 .goutputstream-NOGN2W -rw-r--r-- 1 fangq fangq0 Sep 3 12:54 sedCaKDJQ -rw--- 1 fangq fangq0 Sep 3 12:54 .goutputstream-ERC02W -rw-r--r-- 1 fangq fangq0 Sep 3 12:54 sedBNUaTe -rw--- 1 fangq fangq0 Sep 3 12:53 .goutputstream-IY752W -rw-r--r-- 1 fangq fangq0 Sep 3 12:53 sed0tAN1Q -rw--- 1 fangq fangq0 Sep 3 12:51 .goutputstream-793R2W -rw-r--r-- 1 fangq fangq0 Sep 3 12:51 sedp2WKJN -rw--- 1 fangq fangq0 Sep 3 12:51 .goutputstream-L8PR2W -rw-r--r-- 1 fangq fangq0 Sep 3 12:51 sedqj5rwG -rw--- 1 fangq fangq0 Sep 3 12:49 .goutputstream-MJ0S2W -rw-r--r-- 1 fangq fangq0 Sep 3 12:49 sed0V3DkN -rw--- 1 fangq fangq0 Sep 3 12:49 .goutputstream-GSVP2W -rw-r--r-- 1 fangq fangq0 Sep 3 12:49 sedGnzVh8 -rw--- 1 fangq fangq0 Sep 3 12:48 .bash_history -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to glib2.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/984785 Title: .goutputstream files polluting $HOME To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/glib/+bug/984785/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1219454] Re: ?
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. [Bug 1178272] Re: Without pulseaudio, banshee and rhythmbox report jack server is not running or cannot be started and do not play
Hm, to my knowledge Lubuntu does not come with pulseaudio nor gstreamer. The standard install relies on audio applications that use plain ALSA. Try installing from a Lubuntu live CD. It's certainly hard to choose which (meta-)package should pull in gstreamer1.0-alsa. But some package should include it, otherwise Lubuntu users will end up without it and have the problems described above. It's the link between ALSA and gstreamer, so it could come with one of the packages that deliver ALSA or gstreamer. There's probably no perfect answer here. It could just be included in the standard Lubuntu install, but the Lubuntu people opt for simplicity and use direct ALSA. However, a typical scenario is as follows: You install Lubuntu from a Live CD. You find a selection of slim audio software like audacious. However, you miss your rhythmbox/banshee/whatever. You install rhythmbox/banshee/whatever. It does not work, because there is no gstreamer. You google a bit and learn that the gstreamer plugins come with ubuntu-restricted-extras. You install it, but your rhythmbox/banshee/whatever still does not work, because there is no ALSA sink. You google a bit more but find no answer. You end up writing a bug report on launchpad ;-). Anyway, it might even have helped if gstreamer printed a proper error message (like no sink found) instead of trying to use the jack sink, which is probably the least likely to exist. I don't know where's the best place of doing it, but somehow it should be guaranteed that there is at least one sink present when gstreamer is installed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1178272 Title: Without pulseaudio, banshee and rhythmbox report jack server is not running or cannot be started and do not play To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/banshee/+bug/1178272/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I don't know where's the best place of doing it, but somehow it should be guaranteed that there is at least one sink present when gstreamer is installed. There is at least one sink present (the jack one). Banshee depends on gstreamer1.0-pulseaudio | gstreamer1.0-audiosink, and the latter package is a virtual package that can be satisfied by any audio sink. In addition, it recommends gstreamer1.0-pulseaudio, so it should be installed by default (but will work even if you tell apt not to install gstreamer1.0-pulseaudio, but in that case you're responsible for choosing another audiosink). The issue here is that gstreamer1.0-pulseaudio is also useless because you don't use pulseaudio. Since this issue is more specific to Lubuntu installations, I'd be tempted to slap gstreamer1.0-alsa onto lubuntu-desktop, but it looks like none of the default media players even use gstreamer. [Bug 1219337] Re: Users can change the clock without authenticating, allowing them to locally exploit sudo.
This is by DESIGN? Your design is that any user can change the time, and therefore bypass the security of sudo? What's the justification for not having the user enter a password to change the time? Convenience? Marc, with all due respect, did you even read the bug? If you disable the sudo password for your account, you will seriously compromise the security of your computer. Anyone sitting at your unattended, logged in account will have complete Root access, and remote exploits become much easier for malicious crackers. This policy kit change adds a single condition: That the user has used sudo to escalate at some point, and it creates /exactly/ the same conditions. I'm going to re-open this just to be sure. As a person working in a secure facility with quite a few machines running Ubuntu, this is a major security issue. This is a flaw that allows root access without a password. [Bug 1133663] Re: Extract Here fails to preserve timestamps for non-empty folders
Please re-open this bug. I tested using a recent 13.10 and file-roller 3.9.90 and observed that extract here fails to delay directory restore causing EVERY non-empty extracted folder to assume the date/time of extraction. I will attempt to attach a screenshot of the relevant portion of the GNOME file-roller 3.8.4 change log and a screenshot of a terminal window indicating stats on the OS in use, an ls -al of the iso used to install the OS and the current file-roller version. ** Attachment added: file-roller 3.9.90.png https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/file-roller/+bug/1133663/+attachment/3801753/+files/file-roller%203.9.90.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to file-roller in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1133663 Title: Extract Here fails to preserve timestamps for non-empty folders To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/file-roller/+bug/1133663/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
