[Bug 1222053] [NEW] per-session gsettings overrides

2013-09-07 Thread Tim
Public bug reported:

There have been several occasions now where Ubuntu GNOME has had to
patch code, that could in theory instead be handled by per-session
gsettings overrides. A recent example is the background plugin in gnome-
settings-daemon, this should be loaded under unity, gnome-flashback
sessions but not gnome-shell session. A per-session override would make
this possible without any patches to the codebase.

As I understand it the overrides are processed by glib-compile-schemas
so perhaps we would have to recompile schemas on each login to achieve
this? Any thoughts on how we can achieve this?

** Affects: glib2.0 (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

I can confirm this error message occurs in Ubuntu 13.04 64-bit while
running VMware Workstation 10, each time that the mouse pointer crosses
onto, or off of, the VMware window.

However, my CPU does not spike to 100%, at least as far as I can tell.

[Bug 1222155] Re: gnome-session-flashback suffers dependency hell

2013-09-07 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Reassigning to indicator-keyboard since this looks like the first place
to check.

** Description changed:

+ Attempting to install gnome-session-flashback on Ubuntu GNOME will try
+ to install Unity.
+
+ This is because
+ gnome-session-flashback depends on gnome-panel
+ which recommends indicator-applet-complete
+ which recommends indicator-keyboard
+ which depends on liblightdm-gobject-1-0
+ which recommends lightdm
+ which recommends unity-greeter
+ which recommends lightdm-remote-session-uccsconfigure
+ which depends on unity
+
+ Suggested fixes:
+ - Does indicator-keyboard really need to build against lightdm?
+
+ Alternative:
+ - We could have liblightdm-gobject-1.0 not recommend lightdm but
indicator-keyboard is the only unusual rdepends of liblightdm-gobject-1.0.

[Bug 283871] Re: gnome-brightness-applet fails to change brightness

2013-09-07 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
t_e_r, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number

Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional
upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the daily folder,
but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel,
please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is
fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For
example:
kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.11

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next
to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please
remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

As well, please remove the tag:

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's

[Bug 1142511] Re: Calendar Authentication requests password in Ubuntu 12.10 and 13.10

2013-09-07 Thread Brian Galey
I ran in to this problem as well after a recent upgrade to 13.10.
Removing the pertinent calendar config file from
~/.config/evolution/sources/ fixed the issue for me. There are likely
multiple configuration files in that directory so you will have to
determine which specific calendar is causing the problem for you.

[Bug 1040591] Re: Extracted files to Nautilus are not visible without a refresh

2013-09-07 Thread Timo Palomaa
I get this often, with the addition that any file created in an external
program does not show up automatically in Nautilus (even if no Nautilus
window was open when the file was created). To make the file show up,
manual refresh is required. To me this is not a permanent bug -
restarting Nautilus fixes it.

Next time this happens I have to try this workaround (actually a bit
confused is this even about the same problem really):
