I think this key is not binded to anything but just to make sure I launched the keyboard tool. It seems binded to nothing but in english layout, pressing the key open the «command menu» (such as the left alt key does). But in bépo layout, it does nothing. So, in the tab «shortcut» I tryed to temporary set the AltGr key to some unused shortcut functionality : - When the qwerty layout is selected the key is recognize as a Alt R key; - When the bépo layout is selected the key is recognize as a Level 3 shift key. Please see the uploaded screenshot I don't know what is this kind of key Level 3 shift. Bépo layout is the equivalent of the dvorak layout (but applied to french). On a bépo keyboard layout, this AltGr key is useful for dealing with foreign language and input char like ñ ã ú ś ¿ ¡ ù ï © ß ... Remark, whenever I try to bind this Level 3 shift to a shortcut, the shortcut never works when the key is pressed. ** Attachment added: Two layout recognize the same physical key differently https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/124/+attachment/3902360/+files/ShortcutBindingRecognition.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/124 Title: Folder creation naming is canceled when name contains underscore with french bepo keyboard layout To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/124/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1248310] Re: libsoup has some issues recognizing its own objects
How can this crash be reproduced? pygobject was bumped from 3.10.0 to 3.10.1 in trusty, with these changes: http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/pygobject/3.10/pygobject-3.10.1.news . [Bug 304477] Re: Ctrl-L is a poor keybinding for Clear
Using 2.8.8-7ubuntu2, I tried creating a custom key binding to workaround this change. The dialog box would not accept any input for the Data 1 item. [Bug 435329] Re: Empathy is unusable if indicator applet is not on the panel
Is that it? 2009 since the last comment on this issue? I wasn't using Empathy in 2009. Did the problem get fixed then broke again? Is there a new bug report for a new version of the same problem? It's not just Empathy that struggles to get representation of it's running program. There are other apps as well. Is there a root bug report? Why do apps worked for years have trouble when you involve the indicator applet? Feels like some development life cycle best practices have been completely ignored here. It seems that some core concept of a task bar or a system notification area has been bastardized. All in the name of making things like that cute little blue notification envelop to work. It was cute for about 2 days, but after that it became completely obvious that my work style requires the ability to differentiate between an IM and an Email before deciding whether or not to divert from my current task to investigate. Therefore I need the EASY option to return to the original evolution green bubble for IM notifications separate from the integrated indicator applet. Whatever happened to developing options for the users. From a UI design perspective it feels like the development path for this is a small group of people that do not appreciate the needs of other groups that would like to use the software. Try developing new cute features as optional without breaking existing features that may be relied on. OK I'm only ranting on this thread because it seems like it's dead, but if anyone is still monitoring this I could use a pointer on how to get my green bubble back. I am running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. I lost my green bubble after installing gnome-fallback-session because of a bug with the Unity Global menu that hasn't been fixed yet. After launching into a classic-gnome-like session my green bubble is gone and empathy is once again not usable for me. I've tried various options with the check boxes mentioned above with no luck. I've even tried making the changes from dconf-editor which also has did not take affect The strange thing is that if I launch tint... the original bubble does show up in that task area!! such craziness! Can anyone help me or should I think about going back to Windows? gasps -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/435329 Title: Empathy is unusable if indicator applet is not on the panel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/435329/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 580961] Re: unzip fails to deal correctly with filename encodings
Thanks, that partially solves the problem (Precise, 6.0-4ubuntu2). The question marks are gone, so LP: #1199239 can be marked 'Fix released'. This (LP: #580961) bug is NOT fully addressed though. The problem that remains is that only a few codepages are supported. For example, unzipping a file that contains Greek (cp737) filenames doesn't work out of the box: $ unzip -l biografiko.zip biografiko/ОЫЮЪхЬк ймгзвуирйЮк ШхлЮйЮк_Щ.doc (wrong codepage) On the other hand, if someone manually specifies the codepage, it does work: $ unzip -O cp737 -l biografiko.zip biografiko/Οδηγίες συμπλήρωσης αίτησης_β.doc (right codepage) I'm guessing it would work if we added this line: +{ CP1253, CP737 }, ...in the mapping table defined in debian/patches/06-unzip60-alt-iconv-utf8: +/* A mapping of local - archive charsets used by default to convert filenames + * of DOS/Windows Zip archives. Currently very basic. */ +static CHARSET_MAP dos_charset_map[] = { +{ ANSI_X3.4-1968, CP850 }, +{ ISO-8859-1, CP850 }, +{ CP1252, CP850 }, +{ UTF-8, CP866 }, +{ KOI8-R, CP866 }, +{ KOI8-U, CP866 }, +{ ISO-8859-5, CP866 } +}; I'm not changing the verification-needed flag because it's only partially fixed, which might mean verification-failed, affected people do list your codepages here so that we add them to the mapping table before we upload this to -updates, or it might mean verification-done and open a new bug report for adding more codepages, your call. Re: [Bug 1242966] Re: Image viewer doesn't save image rotation changes
Hi, I tried out the image rotation today and I am unable to reproduce it. I tried a couple different images with couple different combinations but it appears to be working. I wonder if anything changed/got updated in the the mean time. Anyways, it appears like the functionality is working as expected. Sorry for the trouble. You need to at least 2 images in a directory 2. Open first image in Image Viewer and rotate the image 3. Move to next image 4. Close Image Viewer. It will ask if you want to save changes to first image and you say YES. 5. Open first image again and you'll see that the rotation change has not been saved. If however you open any single image in Image Viewer and rotate the image and close Image Viewer without moving on to another image, then it will again ask you if you want to save changes to the image. Manufacturer: Genius Product name: SlimStar310 Here's a link with a picture of it. http://pc.zoznam.sk/test-slim- klavesnic?page=1 If I open the keboard settings Keyboard-Shortcuts-Sound and media and do Volume up and Volume down key mapping: 1. I click on Volume up in the left column 2. New accelerator.. is shown on the right collumn 3. If I press the keboard key for Volume up, the right column shows Audio raise volume All this means that the keyboard sends a STANDARD code for increasing the volume level, so it's not that my keyboard is some kind of esoteric unstandard hardware. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1248368 Title: Volume up/down keyboard keys stoped working after gnome-settings- daemon package update To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/1248368/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1248368] Re: Volume up/down keyboard keys stoped working after gnome-settings-daemon package update
Also mapping the keys with the procedure from above works the same even with the broken 3.4.2-0ubuntu0.6.5 package installed, but as I said before, pressing the keys afterwards doesn't have any effect. The Play/Pause and the Stop keys are working fine -mapped as Audio play/Audio pause and Audio stop (right column labels) Launch media player key also works (It launches Rhytmbox), although the mapping shows (strangely) Tools -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1248368 Title: Volume up/down keyboard keys stoped working after gnome-settings- daemon package update To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/1248368/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.
@janitor, @all Thank you, William Hua, but bug is not fully fixed (see #318, #323) because of remaining issues: * default Super+Space and Shift+Super+Space does not work (bug 1245136) - the most important bug (it's default hotkey!!!). * non-latin shortcuts are broken (see bug 1226962) - the most important bug (affects many multi-layout users), * shortcuts starting with Ctrl+Shift+ got broken if layout switchin set to Ctrl+Shift (bug 1246656) - the most important bug (affects many multi-layout users). * some shortcut combinations started with Win or Alt open a HUD - bug with the lowest importance. For hotkey testing in non-latin layout I created a sheet named Non-latin shortcuts in my table (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ao5e713Ig9g_dEJrX2NRYlpLWWVzSWxsVXU4ck9HYVEusp=sharing). I added simple shortcuts to it (Ctrl+Alt+T, Ctrl+Shift+C/V in gnome-terminal). You and/or other users may add more shortcuts to it. Table is writable by anyone with link. I hope, that my table will help William Hua and other Ubuntu developers to fix and verify hotkey related bugs. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1218322 Title: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc. To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/1218322/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
