[Bug 1248888] [NEW] Folder creation naming is canceled when name contains underscore with french bepo keyboard layout

2013-11-07 Thread Nico T
Public bug reported:

Step to reproduce :
- select the french bepo keyboard in the list of layouts
- open nautilus and create a folder
- when it asks a name for the folder, try to give a name containing an
underscore (AltGr+space on the bépo layout)
- as soon as you press the AltGr key the focus is lost and the name of the
folder stays «Untitled Folder»

Remarks :
- I am using a qwerty keyboard with the french bépo layout
- There is no problem for entering underscore when I am renaming the previously
created «Untitled Folder»

[Bug 1226962] Re: Hotkeys not functional in non-latin keyboard layout in 13.10

2013-11-07 Thread Norbert
@Mikola (panamik)
Thank you for great idea.
I created a sheet named Non-latin shortcuts in my table
(https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ao5e713Ig9g_dEJrX2NRYlpLWWVzSWxsVXU4ck9HYVEusp=sharing).
I added simple shortcuts to it (Ctrl+Alt+T, Ctrl+Shift+C/V in gnome-terminal).
You and/or other users may add more shortcuts to it. Table is writable by
anyone with link.

I hope, that my table will help William Hua and other Ubuntu developers
to fix and verify hotkey related bugs.

Irfanview.

I installed IrfanView, i made all the instruction from here

But now the ADD command is missing from ubuntu 13.10

So if i want to have default irfanview, it is imposible.

Or if a have a exe file that is not registeres in the Other Views, that
it is imposible to add it as default.

Before, when there was the ADD comand for anything that you wanted, it

Seriosly ? I want a easy to use OS. That i can promote to others, but io
cannot put somebody using the terminal for stupid and trivial stuff like
this.

It suposed to be a GUI, this is why i preffer this and i am not stuck

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1248953] [NEW] gnome-control-center fails to launch

Public bug reported:

Similar issues have been reported before but marked as Invalid. I don't

Attempting to run gnome-control-center results in the message Segmentation

[Bug 1248888] Re: Folder creation naming is canceled when name contains underscore with french bepo keyboard layout

2013-11-07 Thread Nico T
I think this key is not binded to anything but just to make sure I
launched the keyboard tool.

It seems binded to nothing but in english layout, pressing the key open
the «command menu» (such as the left alt key does). But in bépo layout,
it does nothing.

So, in the tab «shortcut» I tryed to temporary set the AltGr key to some
unused shortcut functionality :

- When the qwerty layout is selected the key is recognize as a Alt R key;
- When the bépo layout is selected the key is recognize as a Level 3 shift
key.

Please see the uploaded screenshot

I don't know what is this kind of key Level 3 shift.

Bépo layout is the equivalent of the dvorak layout (but applied to french).
On a bépo keyboard layout, this AltGr key is useful for dealing with foreign
language and input char like ñ ã ú ś ¿ ¡ ù ï © ß ...

Remark, whenever I try to bind this Level 3 shift to a shortcut, the
shortcut never works when the key is pressed.

[Bug 1248763] Re: incorporate patches for sliding window support

2013-11-07 Thread Jamin W. Collins
The addition of sliding window support makes gvfs sftp transfers behave
more like openssh sftp file transfers, resulting a significant
throughput increase for connections with moderate to high latency (see
below).

The hang is being handled within one of the original bug reports, specifically:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=532951.

I'm testing updated patches to see if they resolve the hang.

From the referenced bug reports:
==  PULL ==
Some benchmark figures:
Old behavior:
Copying from local server = 6.1MB/s
Copying from local server with 250ms of RTT latency = 0.251MB/s
Copying many small files with 250ms of RTT latency = 0.64 files per second

New behavior:
Copying from local server = 13MB/s
Copying from local server with 250ms of RTT latency = 6.6MB/s
Copying many small files with 250ms of RTT latency = 1.24 files per second

OpenSSH sftp client:
Copying from local server = 14.2MB/s
Copying from local server with 250ms of RTT latency = 6.4MB/s
Copying many small files with 250ms of RTT latency = 1.34 files per second

== PUSH ==
Some benchmark figures:
Old behavior:
Copying from local server = 6.1MB/s
Copying from local server with 250ms of RTT latency = 0.249MB/s
Copying many small files with 250ms of RTT latency = 0.93 files per second

New behavior:
Copying from local server = 12.2MB/s
Copying from local server with 250ms of RTT latency = 6.2MB/s
Copying many small files with 250ms of RTT latency = 1.24 files per second

OpenSSH sftp client:
Copying from local server = 12.8MB/s
Copying from local server with 250ms of RTT latency = 6.7MB/s
Copying many small files with 250ms of RTT latency = 1.33 files per second

[Bug 1248310] Re: libsoup has some issues recognizing its own objects

2013-11-07 Thread Martin Pitt
How can this crash be reproduced? pygobject was bumped from 3.10.0 to
3.10.1 in trusty, with these changes:
http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/pygobject/3.10/pygobject-3.10.1.news
. None of them particularly stands out as being able to break this, but
to confirm, could you downgrade to
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pygobject/3.10.0-1ubuntu1/+build/5094584/+files/python3-gi_3.10.0-1ubuntu1_amd64.deb
and verify that it works again? (The regression might also have come
through something else, although libsoup, gobject-introspection, and
glib didn't change)

[Bug 304477] Re: Ctrl-L is a poor keybinding for Clear

2013-11-07 Thread C. Michael Pilato
Using 2.8.8-7ubuntu2, I tried creating a custom key binding to
workaround this change. The dialog box would not accept any input for
the Data 1 item. Tried to workaround *that* by editing
~/.xchat2/keybindings.conf directly, adding the following block:

{{{

C
l
Run Command
D1:/CLEAR
D2!
}}}

This did at least show my keybinding in the dialog when next I started
xchat, but alas, it still didn't actually work.

Status in “eog” package in Ubuntu:
   Incomplete

 Bug description:
   Steps to reproduce:
   1. You need to at least 2 images in a directory
   2. Open first image in Image Viewer and rotate the image
   3. Move to next image
   4. Close Image Viewer. It will ask if you want to save changes to first
 image and you say YES.
   5. Open first image again and you'll see that the rotation change has
 not been saved.

If however you open any single image in Image Viewer and rotate the
image and close Image Viewer without moving on to another image, then
it will again ask you if you want to save changes to the image. But
this time it will actually change the image orientation.

This probably applies to other image changes but I haven't tried it.

I have run into this issue on multiple machines and affects Ubuntu
13.04 as well as Ubuntu 13.10

[Bug 435329] Re: Empathy is unusable if indicator applet is not on the panel

2013-11-07 Thread Steve S
Is that it?
2009 since the last comment on this issue?
I wasn't using Empathy in 2009. Did the problem get fixed then broke again?
Is there a new bug report for a new version of the same problem?

It's not just Empathy that struggles to get representation of it's running
program. There are other apps as well.
Is there a root bug report? Why do apps worked for years have trouble when you
involve the indicator applet? Feels like some development life cycle best
practices have been completely ignored here.

It seems that some core concept of a task bar or a system
notification area has been bastardized. All in the name of making
things like that cute little blue notification envelop to work. It was
cute for about 2 days, but after that it became completely obvious that
my work style requires the ability to differentiate between an IM and an
Email before deciding whether or not to divert from my current task to
investigate. Therefore I need the EASY option to return to the original
evolution green bubble for IM notifications separate from the integrated
indicator applet.

Whatever happened to developing options for the users. From a UI design
perspective it feels like the development path for this is a small group
of people that do not appreciate the needs of other groups that would
like to use the software. Try developing new cute features as optional
without breaking existing features that may be relied on.

OK I'm only ranting on this thread because it seems like it's dead, but
if anyone is still monitoring this I could use a pointer on how to get
my green bubble back.

I am running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.
I lost my green bubble after installing gnome-fallback-session because of a bug
with the Unity Global menu that hasn't been fixed yet.
After launching into a classic-gnome-like session my green bubble is gone and
empathy is once again not usable for me. I've tried various options with the
check boxes mentioned above with no luck. I've even tried making the changes
from dconf-editor which also has did not take affect
The strange thing is that if I launch tint... the original bubble does show up
in that task area!!
such craziness!

Can anyone help me or should I think about going back to Windows?
gasps

[Bug 580961] Re: unzip fails to deal correctly with filename encodings

2013-11-07 Thread Alkis Georgopoulos
Thanks, that partially solves the problem (Precise, 6.0-4ubuntu2).

The question marks are gone, so LP: #1199239 can be marked 'Fix released'.
This (LP: #580961) bug is NOT fully addressed though.
The problem that remains is that only a few codepages are supported.

For example, unzipping a file that contains Greek (cp737) filenames doesn't
work out of the box:
$ unzip -l biografiko.zip
biografiko/ОЫЮЪхЬк ймгзвуирйЮк ШхлЮйЮк_Щ.doc (wrong codepage)

On the other hand, if someone manually specifies the codepage, it does work:
$ unzip -O cp737 -l biografiko.zip
biografiko/Οδηγίες συμπλήρωσης αίτησης_β.doc (right codepage)

I'm guessing it would work if we added this line:
+{ CP1253, CP737 },
...in the mapping table defined in debian/patches/06-unzip60-alt-iconv-utf8:

+/* A mapping of local - archive charsets used by default to convert filenames
+ * of DOS/Windows Zip archives. Currently very basic. */
+static CHARSET_MAP dos_charset_map[] = {
+{ ANSI_X3.4-1968, CP850 },
+{ ISO-8859-1, CP850 },
+{ CP1252, CP850 },
+{ UTF-8, CP866 },
+{ KOI8-R, CP866 },
+{ KOI8-U, CP866 },
+{ ISO-8859-5, CP866 }
+};

I'm not changing the verification-needed flag because it's only partially fixed,
which might mean verification-failed, affected people do list your codepages
here so that we add them to the mapping table before we upload this to
-updates,
or it might mean verification-done and open a new bug report for adding more
codepages,
your call. Thanks!

Hi,

I tried out the image rotation today and I am unable to reproduce it. I

appears to be working.

I wonder if anything changed/got updated in the the mean time.

Anyways, it appears like the functionality is working as expected. Sorry

 Title:
Image viewer doesn't save image rotation changes

Status in “eog” package in Ubuntu:
   Incomplete

 Bug description:
   Steps to reproduce:
   1. You need to at least 2 images in a directory
   2. Open first image in Image Viewer and rotate the image
   3. Move to next image
   4. Close Image Viewer. It will ask if you want to save changes to
first image and you say YES.

[Bug 1241811] Re: USB disk not automatically mounted after upgrade to 13.10

2013-11-07 Thread Romano Giannetti
There is something really strange going on here. After the test above, I logged
out. Next, on the login screen (gdm here), there wasn't my name-icon. I logged
in by using not listed here... option.
Login was much faster than normal now, and the automount is working this time.

So the main difference from gvfs-mount -o is the error:

(gvfs-mount:1): GVFS-RemoteVolumeMonitor-WARNING **: remote volume

supported

which happens when the automount is *not* working.

I'm new around here, but I'm not sure Fix Released is the proper status
yet for this bug. I am not the maintainer of this plugin, I've only
applied the patch on a fork and submitted a pull request to the
maintainer (Quixotix), who I assume will need to merge the change before
this fix is released..?

[Bug 1226962] Re: Hotkeys not functional in non-latin keyboard layout in 13.10

As for me, solution via m17 don't work at all - it changes only
indicator, but not a keyboard layout - it still types in english even
for Russian (kbd (m17)). It also doesn't show Keyboard Layout Chart
properly - when this button is pressed, it shows window with English
(US) chart.

[Bug 1131220] Re: [soundnua]: gnome-control-center crashed with SIGSEGV in gvc_mixer_control_lookup_device_from_stream()

2013-11-07 Thread DancemasterGlenn
I'd really appreciate it! I'd sort of given up hope that I'd see my
sound menu on this system again. :( Because it used to work fine there's
a chance we could look at the related packages from the weeks
around/before my first post and see if any relevant changes stand out...
I'd like to do whatever I can to help.

The interface has multiple inputs, if that has any relevance? It can
take a quarter inch instrument cable as well as an XLR mic cable.
Possibly not related, but it does set it apart from some other
cards/interfaces.

[Bug 1248368] Re: Volume up/down keyboard keys stoped working after gnome-settings-daemon package update

2013-11-07 Thread Petar Velkovski
Tormod, we are talking about a plain keyboard with multimedia keys.
Manufacturer: Genius
Product name: SlimStar310

Here's a link with a picture of it. http://pc.zoznam.sk/test-slim-
klavesnic?page=1

If I open the keboard settings Keyboard-Shortcuts-Sound and media and do
Volume up and Volume down key mapping:
1. I click on Volume up in the left column
2. New accelerator.. is shown on the right collumn
3. If I press the keboard key for Volume up, the right column shows Audio
raise volume

All this means that the keyboard sends a STANDARD code for increasing
the volume level, so it's not that my keyboard is some kind of esoteric
unstandard hardware.

Also mapping the keys with the procedure from above works the same even
with the broken 3.4.2-0ubuntu0.6.5 package installed, but as I said
before, pressing the keys afterwards doesn't have any effect.

The Play/Pause and the Stop keys are working fine -mapped as Audio
play/Audio pause and Audio stop (right column labels)
Launch media player key also works (It launches Rhytmbox), although the mapping
shows (strangely) Tools

[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.

2013-11-07 Thread Norbert
@janitor, @all
Thank you, William Hua, but bug is not fully fixed (see #318, #323) because of
remaining issues:
* default Super+Space and Shift+Super+Space does not work (bug 1245136) - the
most important bug (it's default hotkey!!!).
* non-latin shortcuts are broken (see bug 1226962) - the most important bug
(affects many multi-layout users),
* shortcuts starting with Ctrl+Shift+ got broken if layout switchin set to
Ctrl+Shift (bug 1246656) - the most important bug (affects many multi-layout
users).
* some shortcut combinations started with Win or Alt open a HUD - bug with the
lowest importance.

For hotkey testing in non-latin layout I created a sheet named Non-latin
shortcuts in my table
(https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ao5e713Ig9g_dEJrX2NRYlpLWWVzSWxsVXU4ck9HYVEusp=sharing).
I added simple shortcuts to it (Ctrl+Alt+T, Ctrl+Shift+C/V in gnome-terminal).
You and/or other users may add more shortcuts to it. Table is writable by
anyone with link.

I hope, that my table will help William Hua and other Ubuntu developers
to fix and verify hotkey related bugs.

[Bug 1131220] Re: [soundnua]: gnome-control-center crashed with SIGSEGV in gvc_mixer_control_lookup_device_from_stream()

2013-11-07 Thread David Henningsson
Here's a patch that I think will fix it, but it's completely untested.

Can you apply patches and recompile yourself, or do you want me to set
up a ppa for you? And if so, what distro version should the ppa target?

** Patch added:
0001-gvc-mixer-control-Move-ACTIVE_INPUT_UPDATE-notificat.patch
