[Bug 1225514] Re: adding keyboard layouts no longer seems to update xkb correctly

2013-11-18 Thread Miklos Juhasz
The proposed package is definitely an improvement. Now I can cycle
through my usual layouts instead of only En and En2 which was the case
before. As per comment #14, tagging as verification-done.

[Bug 1252018] Re: Loading... message shown for folders with hidden files

2013-11-18 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1248368] Re: Volume up/down keyboard keys stoped working after gnome-settings-daemon package update

2013-11-18 Thread Simao
Hi,

I think that this might be related to the media-keys plugin being moved
out of gnome-settings-daemon into gnome-panel.

Anyway we can get the fix backported from trusty to saucy? All media
keys stopped working :(

[Bug 1223181] Re: After upgrading to saucy, eclipse crashes in gtk_tree_view_get_background_area+0x8a while debugging

2013-11-18 Thread Adrian Woodhead
After having installed a number of standard Kubuntu updates since I
first noticed this problem it appears to have gone away. I had tried
switching from Oxygen to something else but am now back on Oxygen and
have run Eclipse to do debugging and file searching (both of which
caused the crash previously) and it appears to work fine now. I'm not
sure exactly which update fixed this (or whether it was switching away
from Oxygen and then back again). I will keep an eye on it and if it
happens again will post more info here.

I should not talk about it here but nobody talk about this so I am describing
here.
If that's not a bug then the spec is wrong.
Have you ever tried to move a file at bottom of folder that contains at least
20 or 30 folders, to a folder that is located at top?
If we move slowly, it defenetly would be caught by a folder on the way.
When it has to be scrolled, it is impossible to reach there.
I am not trying to play a game. This is very tricky to avoid the problem.
If you release nautilus as a game, it would be great because it is very
difficult.
Right now, I have to open the target folder as a new tub then I can move a file
to the folder tab because I can move a mouse fast enough or it would not
require scroll.
The many new specs seem to be completely wrong. One of the major wrong thing
was that tree view has gone.

[Bug 1252262] [NEW] Window auto maximize causes window move mouse anchor to jump

2013-11-18 Thread Achim Schreiber
Public bug reported:

Installation: standard ubuntu 12.04.3 amd64 desktop (bug also seen at 11.10) -
upgrades from 11.10 via network updater.
Seen on both selfmade desktop pc and 2 differnt ASUS laptops (one with fresh
and clean 12.04 installation):
Take your mouse to top window bar to move the window. If you move the window to
screen top (auto-maximize function triggers) and move the window back to normal
area (do this quickly) often the mouse is not anchored at the window top bar
but some centimeters above or sometimes within the window.
Maybe also if you simply quickly move the window.
Seen with different windows (Terminal, Firefox and others) on standard, believe
this is gnome unity?

No worries, I've waited almost a year and have no qualms with waiting a
bit longer. :)

I did my best to get a backtrace for you? I think I ran it okay. I've
posted my attempts in a pastebin file, here:

The backtrace just kept going and going, so I manually quit out a bit
after the 500th line. Let me know when you can if I did it right, and if
there's anything useful in there. Thank you David, good luck with the
other stuff you're working on as well.

[Bug 945987] Re: No Settings are available in Preferred format, only preset defaults are used

2013-11-18 Thread amias
raring ringtail is still attempting to rip cd's at 11khz which might ok
if you are listening to herb alpert (probably makes it more interesting)
but if you are listening to anything made in the last 20 years (i.e
electronic music with a huge dynamic range like say Reso , Noisia or
Frederick Robinson) its annoying.

Can we not just have a dialog pop up when you first try ripping that
asks you which settings you want to use ?

Cheers
Amias

[Bug 1250532] Re: Very Slow to Show Properties of a File (window dims out)

2013-11-18 Thread Lonnie Lee Best
Can some please confirm this bug? It is not likely that I'm the only one
experiencing this.

Additionally, I'd like to note that this is not only occurring when
checking the properties of a file; it also happens when you right-click
on a folder and select Properties as well.

The Nautilus window grays out, and it take as many as 15 seconds until
it recovers and displays the Properties dialog-window.

[Bug 1224254] Re: xrandr Xerrors with the nvidia binary drivers

2013-11-18 Thread Alberto Milone
I can reproduce this when using the nvidia driver and offloading
rendering to it using RandR on an NVIDIA Optimus system. This is what
nvidia-prime does and what NVIDIA suggests on their website.

I've assigned the bug report to both the nvidia driver and the
modesettings driver since they are both used. The modesettings driver is
the one which ultimately deals with RandR (and therefore the gnome-
settings-daemon).

Well I filed a bug as you asked, it was duped to the first bug I mentioned.
When I actually went to that bug I saw it was a dupe itself of the 2nd bug

In any case shotwell (shotwell viewer) is vnot seen in Details in 14.04
Also the same for a new package mpv

In both cases is NoDisplay=true is removed or changed to false then they show up

[Bug 1251087] Re: apps whose .desktop contain NoDisplay=true will not show up in Details Default applications

2013-11-18 Thread Sebastien Bacher
I can't confirm that (which is why I asked for it to be sent upstream,
maybe they have a better idea about the issue)

Here the photo section lists shotwell and imagemagick ...

Do you get the same behaviour in a guest session? Maybe you have a
desktop in .local changing the behaviour or something?

2013-11-18 Thread Fredda
I can confirm this. Not fixed in saucy. It's still rhythmbox version
2.99.1-0ubuntu1 from May this year.
Only version rhythmbox 3.0.1-1ubuntu5 for trusty seems to be updated as this is
from November 15th.

This bug come from GNOME.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
gnome-control-center-3.10.2-1.mga4

How reproducible:
Go to gnome-control-center keyboard and try to set Alt+Shift or Ctrl+Shift as
layout switching keys.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to gnome-control-center keyboard (Shortcuts - Typing)
2. Try to set Alt+Shift or Ctrl+Shift at 'Switch to next input source'
3. Get 'Disabled' in 'Switch to next input source'.

If you set default Super+Space - it set and work normally, but it is not
comfortable and universal for all users.

This bug is very hot in Ubuntu 13.10 too (689 users are affected, see

[Bug 1236601] Re: wrong background color when editing icons on desktop

available at
http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/1:3.8.2-0ubuntu2.1 in a few
hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See

enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at

- after entering the password to login, clicking on the dialog caused it to
revert back to the login screen and having to re-login again.

i could think of a few profanities to describe this behavior and the genius who
thought to add it,
but i'm sure it was meant with the best intent.

[Bug 365530] Re: support for MP4 chapter tracks

2013-11-18 Thread GwaiTsi
4 years since this issue was first raised and still not implemented
a part of the mp4 specification no, yet not implemented? am i missing
something.

i use foobar2000 in wine to over come this, but hardly an ideal solution.
VLC supports it, but none of the gstreamer based audio apps like banshee, etc.

[Bug 1222966] Re: shotwell crashed with SIGFPE in LibRaw::identify2()

2013-11-18 Thread Jim Nelson
This looks suspiciously like http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/3224, which
we closed two years ago because we received no further information from
the user.

Paul, I can't reproduce this problem with the JPEG you supplied. If you
drag-and-drop the file into Shotwell, does it crash for you? Or do you
have to import from the SD card? Was this JPEG associated with a RAW
file (i.e. P1020993.JPG along with P1020993.CR2)?

Re: [Bug 1232454] Re: Often automatic suspend dialog when I unlock

2013-11-18 Thread Greg Michalec
It appears based on the gnome bug report
(https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=712176) that the dialog is
meant to be removed upon resuming. to quote:

I see that the notification is getting removed when resuming already,
so it's probably something to do with Ubuntu's non-use of systemd/logind.

[Bug 1226962] Re: Hotkeys not functional in non-latin keyboard layout in 13.10

2013-11-18 Thread Grief
I just want to share a workaround which I've found on several russian
forums.

1. Let you have cleanly installed 13.10. You might want to add some additional
keyboard layouts if you didn't do that during the installation. For me, there
are RU and EN layouts.
2. English layout must be the first one in the list. You won't use system
layout switcher, so it always be shown in English. You can disable the icon and
the layout changing keyboard shortcuts if you know how.
3. Install gxneur. You, probably, can use the default repo, but I didn't try
that and prefered to use Andrew's own ppa:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:andrew-crew-kuznetsov/xneur-unstable
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install xneur

4. For enabling the tray icon you can use the following:
gconftool-2 -s -t string /apps/gxneur/rendering_engine AppIndicator

Now go to gxneur settings and feel free to setup everything as you want.
I would recommend you to turn on only manual corrections as automatic
ones could be really annoying and even frustrating.

I set ctrl+shift to change the layout and don't experience difficulties
with ctrl+shift+[key] shortcuts independently of the current layout now.

[Bug 1252507] [NEW] gsd-backlight-helper fails to change backlight

2013-11-18 Thread Mahiar Mody
Public bug reported:

In Saucy Salamander (Ubuntu 13.10), nothing happens when programmatically
changing the backlight using the command:
pkexec /usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon/gsd-backlight-helper --set-brightness 50

After issuing the above-mentioned command:

1. There is no difference in the screen brightness.
2. The slider in the System Settings - Brightness Lock remains unchanged.

However, the value specified with --set-brightness argument is correctly
reflected in the file:
/sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/actual_brightness
and
/sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/actual_brightness

Additionally, I'm using the proprietary Video driver for the AMD graphics
accelerators from fglrx-updates. (I can't use the X.org X Server open source
driver, because I get a lot of visual artefacts / screen refresh problems when
I use it).

Furthermore, adjusting the brightness directly from the GUI, using the
slider in System Settings - Brightness Lock works correctly,
changing the screen brightness, as is expected. This change in screen
brightness can be confirmed by issuing the following commands:

pkexec /usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon/gsd-backlight-helper --get-brightness
and
cat /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/actual_brightness
and
cat /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/actual_brightness

2013-11-18 Thread Seth Arnold
Thank you for using Ubuntu and taking the time to report a bug. Your
report should contain, at a minimum, the following information so we can
better find the source of the bug and work to resolve it.

Submitting the bug about the proper source package is essential. For
help see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . Additionally,
in the report please include:

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'cat /etc/lsb-release' or System -
About Ubuntu.
2) The version of the package you are using, via 'dpkg -l PKGNAME | cat' or by
checking in Synaptic.
3) What happened and what you expected to happen.

The Ubuntu community has also created debugging procedures for a wide
variety of packages at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures .
Following the debugging instructions for the affected package will make
your bug report much more complete. Thanks!
