[Bug 511302] Re: You do not have the required permissions to use this drive.

2014-01-03 Thread LoWang
those workarounds are not necessary IMHO. The media seems to be written
properly even if this stupid error occurs. There may be just a little trouble
opening the drive.
This bug is still present even in Ubuntu 12.10. How can we call this system
Linux for human beings if it behaves like this?...

[Bug 1265401] Re: Unpredictable behavior of Show sidebar

2014-01-03 Thread Thomas Jensen
I use 13.10.

1. Open Nautilus (any folder)
2. Press F9 (nothing happens)
3. Press F9 (sidebar opens)

Debug:
1. Open Nautilus
2. Click the arrow pointing down and Show sidebar is ticked
3. Press F9
4. Click the arrow pointing down and Show sidebar is now unticked
5. Press F9
6. Click the arrow pointing down and Show sidebar is now ticked AND the
sidebar is shown.

It seems like the state of Show sidebar is persisted in the UI (as it
should be) but not in the options menu.

I just installed 1.1.6 from the github repo. It works better, but isn't
perfect. My iPad shows up on my desktop and there is no trust loop, but
full functionality isn't restored and I'm unable to open my device.

This is just going to be a case of waiting til libimobiledevice is
functional again, I don't believe there's anything for Ubuntu to do on
this issue except wait.

[Bug 1265846] [NEW] gedit crashes when dblclicking on unloaded server bookmark

2014-01-03 Thread Aslanex
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 13.10, gedit 3.8.3-0ubuntu3
I have a server bookmark added via Nautilus, when it's unconnected and I press
it in Nautilus, it connects. But when I doubleclick it in gedit files panel (on
the left), gedit crashes. When I doubleclick it while connected, it's ok,
problem is only when unconnected. Happens with various servers.

[Bug 1207812] Re: [Sony VGN-SR29XN_S] Iphone with iOS 7 does not work on Ubuntu

2014-01-03 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Vince Stratful, thank you for testing the latest libimobiledevice. Would you
mind filing a new report so your hardware may be easily tracked, via a terminal:
ubuntu-bug linux

This will help avoid the scenario (It kinda works for my ipad., It
doesn't work for my iPhone., Me too!), and ensures the issue with
your iPad is addressed.

When opening the new report, please feel free to subscribe me to it.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1248303] Re: Regression: cannot install driver for Canon MP160

2014-01-03 Thread John
I have the same problem when trying to install a Brother printer. I get
the same error message as #4.

In my sources.list I have the following line:
deb http://www.openprinting.org/download/printdriver/debian/ lsb3.2 main

However in the error message it refers to:
deb http://www.openprinting.org/download/printdriver/debian/ lsb3.1 gutenprint

Maybe this has something to do with it.

Work around is to use command line tools, on 13.04 I used information on

solution other than editing code and rebuilding.

replace mac address with your own.

[Bug 1248303] Re: Regression: installing gutenprint printer driver fails

2014-01-03 Thread Jussi Lind
I think that this is an (UI?) issue in system-config-printer, because I
was now able to install the driver like this:

1) Start system-config-printer from terminal (I didn't test otherwise)
2) Select your printer from the list once detected and start installing the
gutenprint driver
3) Hit CTRL-C (possible a couple of times) in the terminal when the installing
gutenprint dialog gets stuck, select Cancel for the crash report etc
4) Now a New Printer dialog opens in which you can select your printer
manufacturer and model
5) Choose your printer = Forward = Forward = Apply

The first crash again here:

-- clip --

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File /usr/share/system-config-printer/newprinter.py, line 3678, in
on_tvNPDownloadableDrivers_cursor_changed
iter = model.get_iter (path)

-- clip --

These are the corresponding lines in the code:

-- clip --

selection = widget.get_selection ()
if selection == None:
return

model, iter = selection.get_selected ()
if not iter:
path, column = widget.get_cursor()
iter = model.get_iter (path)

-- clip --

So in our case widget.get_cursor() returns so that path is None.

I assume that this happens, because the code expects user data from the
New Printer dialog, which is not opened.

[Bug 1215463] Re: Disable while typing should disable cursor movement

2014-01-03 Thread Jason Gerard DeRose
Sebastian,

Our initial testing and tuning was among co-workers, friends, family
that we could test on.

So far we haven't gotten any complaints from customers about the 0.5
second delay being too long, although some customers still complain that
they don't feel Disable while typing does what it should. So I'm
thinking we should try just a touch longer, maybe 0.6 seconds.

As far as competing platforms, I know OSX does disable the trackpad
briefly after any typing activity. The also do palm detection, but how
effective that is varies a lot by hardware. It doesn't work very well on
current System76 products because the trackpad isn't centered beneath
home row.

Note that with my proposed settings, syndaemon does still does disable
accidental tap to click. I was just commenting that from my experience
an System76 hardware anyway, I wasn't getting accidental tap to clicks
when I turned off sysdaemon entirely (and turned tap to click on, which
I normally turn off). But obviously that's very hardware specific.

[Bug 1248303] Re: Regression: installing gutenprint printer driver fails

2014-01-03 Thread Till Kamppeter
One remark, to test setup of an arbitrary printer which you do not
actually have, set FileDevice yes in /etc/cups/cups-files.conf,
restart CUPS and then run the commands:

cd /usr/share/system-config-printer/
python newprinter.py --setup-printer=file:/tmp/printout
--devid='MFG:Canon;MDL:MP160;'

Replace the terms after MFG: and MDL: by manufacturer and model of the
desired printer.

[Bug 1248303] Re: Regression: installing gutenprint printer driver fails

2014-01-03 Thread Till Kamppeter
For me I get a correct setup if I had a printer named Canon Pixma
MP630 or Canon Pixma MP160, but I can reproduce the problem described
here if I try to set up a Canon MP160. So if the printer identifies
itself as Canon MP160 and not as Canon Pixma MP160, the current
driver (Gutenprint) contains a wrong printer ID:

till@till:~$ lpinfo -m | grep -i MP160
gutenprint.5.2://bjc-MULTIPASS-MP160/expert Canon PIXMA MP160 - CUPS+Gutenprint
v5.2.9
[...]

If there exist really two different printers, one Canon MP160 and one
Canon Pixma MP160 only the latter is supported by current Gutenprint
and the old Gutenprint version which is wrongly installed here has a
bug.

Jussi, can you remove the print queue(s) for your printer and then run

system-config-printer --debug 21 | tee log.txt

in a terminal window. Try to set up your printer and when it gets stuck,
please stop with Ctrl+C and attach the log.txt file here. Do not
compress the file.

[Bug 1265932] [NEW] screen: Changing Lock needs to ask user to authenticate.

2014-01-03 Thread Rob Frohne
Public bug reported:

My son likes to sneak computer time, and one way he does this is to
continually turn the screen lock off when he earns a little computer
time, so he can get on later if his mother or I don't notice, or
manually lock the screen when we stop using the computer.

Maybe there is a way to do this with the present setup, and if so, I'd
love to know what it is. So far the only way that I have been
successful is to chmod og-x gnome-control-center, and then I can't open
the settings from the menu bar widget. This might work for me, but not
for my wife.

Actually, get_file_package can return None (Return None if the file is

This probably has something to do with the plugins installed and apport
being unable to find the package version for one of them. We can see
the following in the hook:

# collect informations on the /usr/lib/control-center-1 components
plugin_packages = set()
for paneldir in (['/usr/lib/control-center-1'] +
glob.glob('/usr/lib/*/control-center-1')):
for dirpath, dirnames, filenames in os.walk(paneldir):
for filename in filenames:
path = os.path.join(dirpath, filename)
package = apport.packaging.get_file_package(path)
if package == 'gnome-control-center':
continue

plugin_packages.add(package)

report[usr_lib_gnome-control-center] =

Same here.
The problem is related to Oxygen indeed. (as #7 pointed)
Changing the gtk theme to something else solved the problem.
Happened with: oracle's java 6,7,8 and openjdk 7.
Tested on all version of ApacheDS (Directory Studio) from 1.5 to 2.0.

[Bug 830709] Re: Keyboard shortcut - Unity should also use Super-L to lock screen by default

2014-01-03 Thread Rushi
I can confirm the behavior mdo is experiencing. Super-L only seems to
work for Lock Screen per session after you set it in the Hotkeys
configuration. After a restart of the machine you have to reset the
hotkey to Super+L again for it to work (and it will only work until you
restart again).

I have also experienced the same exact behavior with Super+C, which I
had set for Calculator.
