[Bug 1266873] Re: gnome-settings-daemon is polling for seemingly no good reason at all

2014-01-15 Thread Sebastien Bacher
@Tim: I'm not sure I agree with that, while it's probably fine to drop
that directory from fontconfig, we should probably not have g-s-d
pooling endlessly on non existing directories anyway, the same issue
might be happening with other ones depending of your configuration and
what you have installed

2014-01-15 Thread IanG
Okay this is interesting. If I start Gimp 2.8 and then open or import an
image to work on, it'll let me save to xcf or export no problem.

But if Gimp is invoked by right clicking on the image, that's when I can
immediately save.

So at least I have a workaround

[Bug 1269514] [NEW] Black screen (with clock) after waking the display

2014-01-15 Thread Edwin Pujols
Public bug reported:

When the display sleeps due to idle time (or running `gnome-screensaver-
command -a`), if I move the mouse lightly it wakes up to a black screen
(with the clock on the top right). In this black screen I need to move
the mouse or press a key so that the desktop is shown. I have the lock
screen when idle option disabled.

*Steps to reproduce*

Disable lock when idle. Let the display go to sleep (or `gnome-
screensaver-command -a`). Move the mouse pointer slightly. The display
should wake up, but instead of showing the desktop it shows a black
screen (reminiscent of the lock screen?).

the image you attached has no preview/image details in the properties
here. Did you install some extra package to support that image format or
similar? It would be useful to get a gdb backtrace of nautilus while
it's hanging (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace) ... could you do that?

There is probably a deeper issue here in that 'monitor_files' should

value of 'FcConfigUptoDate'). That should not be happening every 4
seconds.

[Bug 221112]

2014-01-15 Thread Samuel thibault
Hello,

Until a solution is to be found, could 518c769d be reverted for now?
Breaking the very standard behavior of right control in all applications
(e.g. xterminals!!) is really not acceptable, compared to the few issues
that the behavior has without it.

 Hello,

Breaking the very standard behavior of right control

It does not break the very standard behavior of right control any more
than altrgr breaks the very standard behavior of right alt

It's exactly the same mechanism as endorsed in other official French
layouts like the Canadian one
