[Bug 1274740] Re: Re-enable traditional titlebar on 'gnome-but-not-shell' sessions too

2014-02-01 Thread Alkis Georgopoulos
With gnome-flashback, I did the following change:

$ grep DesktopName /usr/share/xsessions/gnome-fallback.desktop
X-LightDM-DesktopName=FGNOME

Logout/login, my environment now is:
DESKTOP_SESSION=gnome-fallback
SESSIONTYPE=gnome-session
XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=FGNOME

And, nautilus 1:3.10.1-0ubuntu2 is still not showing the titlebar, was
it supposed to?

[Bug 977866] Re: no sound while playing music from a gvfs mounted samba share

2014-02-01 Thread Rick Joyner
Update: My previous post is almost surely a non-issue. I have solved my
loss of audio through samba share and traced the issue to the following.

The board I am using on the server end has a Realtek R8168/R8
ethernet device. Since the default driver for Ubuntu is for R8169
hardware, when a system upgrade is done it can result in the R8168
driver being replaced.

I had upgrade my system from 32-bit to 64-bit. When this was done the
R8168 driver was no longer present; only the R8169 is present after the
new install.

I fixed this issue by installing the R8168 network driver. Apparently
the R8169 driver frequently disconnects and that is what causes the
issue with streaming audio through the samba share.

I hope this helps others!

[Bug 1131099] Re: Can not edit or add new bookmarks/places to nautilus

2014-02-01 Thread Rushi
On Saucy AMD64, bookmarking works using the Cog method. The Bookmark
This Location option will be grayed out if the folder you are in is
already under Places or Bookmarks.

I can confirm however that editing bookmarks is still broken via
Files-Bookmarks. Unable to Add new bookmarks.

Also, in Nautilus the Places and Bookmarks sections are separate from
one another. However, when going to Files-Bookmarks, they all seem to
be combined together. You can change the order, but it doesn't make a
difference on the display. There are also items missing entirely, such
as Trash which is present under Places.

[Bug 951790] Re: Laptop does not suspend on lid close when external display is connected

2014-02-01 Thread Drew Noakes
It seems that the behaviour desired by this bug is the default in Ubuntu
13.10.

Note too that there are people lobbying to be able to sleep on lid-close
only when no monitor is connected as well! See
http://askubuntu.com/q/362337/17164

When I move to my desk, I close the laptop and use a nice large monitor.
There does not seem to be an option to avoid sleeping on lid close when
an external monitor is connected any more.
