[Bug 1241284] Re: gnome-settings-daemon has problems recognizing the layout switching shortcut

Thank you for your bug report. Is that still an issue in trusty? The
keybindings grabbing is now done in compiz and those issues should be
resolved

2014-03-03 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

I managed to get it to upgrade cleanly without removing any packages

I had to selectively upgrade the packages in a certain order.
I don't remember which order it was in though.

[Bug 1287124] [NEW] memory leak in evince: using gigabytes of ram when selecting text

2014-03-03 Thread staticd
Public bug reported:

When I select text in a certain pdf, evince consumes hundreds of MBs to
a few GBs of RAM. This ram is not freed on deselection. High CPU usage
accompanies the RAM allocation.

version: evince 3.4.0
OS: ubuntu 12.04 fully updated.

Steps to reproduce: Open the pdf I have attached and attempt to select
around a page of text. Keep a system monitor or a terminal open so you
can kill it easily if your system freezes for lack of RAM.

[Bug 1287146] Re: cant validate a new folder creation

2014-03-03 Thread dino99
Tweaking around that issue, i've discovered that hitting the tab key
is a workaround to set the create button clickable and then continue
moving the desired mail. Of course that workaround should not be used to
unset the greyed create button: it have to be activated and clickable
directly after having writing a few letters to create a folder name (or
poping up a warning telling that the given name have to met some rules
(but it must stay simple as there is no security rule here))

[Bug 1287160] [NEW] Menu is located in gear icon at the upper right corner but not in the menu bar

2014-03-03 Thread Michael Zanetti
Public bug reported:

Unlike all other applications in Ubuntu, which put their menu into the
top panel of unity, the document viewer keeps its menu in the little
gear icon at the upper right corner. Unity's panel still has a menu when
the document viewer is focused, but that basically doesn't hold any
entries at all.

The non-tech people I'm supporting with their Ubuntu machines are
struggling with this a lot. For example they constantly fail to find how
to print the viewed PDF file, just searching the menu bar for a print
entry.

[Bug 1287124] Re: memory leak in evince: using gigabytes of ram when selecting text

2014-03-03 Thread Quinn Balazs
Please collect and attach Valgrind forensics using the method detailed
here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Valgrind. These will allow us to see
specifically what the issue is. Before being able to collect Valgrind
forensics you will need to install the debug symbols for evince if you
don't currently have those installed (sudo apt-get install evince-dbg).

Once you've done that, set the status here back to new, and we'll take a
look at the logs.

Thanks.

[Bug 1274013] Re: gnome-session is broken without 3d acceleration, breaking also gnome-flashback on X, VNC and NX/X2GO

2014-03-03 Thread Eugene San
** Description changed:

Gnome-Session 3.8+ enforces usage of 3D, breaking usage of all gnome-
- session based sessions in non-3D accelerated hardware and environments
- as plat X, VNC and NX/X2GO. This makes usage of gnome-flashback
- impossible.
+ session based sessions in non-3D accelerated environments as non-3D
+ enabled hardware, forwarded-X, VNC and NX/X2GO.

- Overriding 3D checks (sym-linking
/usr/lib/gnome-session/gnome-session-check-* to /bin/true) enables sessions
start but gnome-session segfault few seconds later.
-
- (Sorry for hijacking this bug, but new gnome-session behavior has much
broader affect then originally reported)
+ This breaks gnome-flashback, breaking upgrade path from previous LTS and
+ removing most sane option for cloud environments!
+
+ Overriding 3D checks (sym-linking /usr/lib/gnome-session/gnome-session-
+ check-* to /bin/true) allows to start the session but it fails few
+ seconds later when gnome-session segfault without apparent reason.
+
+ (Sorry for hijacking this bug, but new gnome-session behavior has much
+ broader affect then originally reported)

  Original report:

In Saucy Salamander, gdm will not start if 3d acceleration is not available.
This throws an error to /var/log/gdm/:0-greeter.log

  gnome-session-is-accelerated: No composite extension.
gnome-session-check-accelerated: Helper exited with code 256

gnome-session-check-accelerated: Helper exited with code 256
** (process:4142): WARNING **: software acceleration check failed: Child
process exited with code 1

This is a regression from raring, and is the same if gnome-fallback is
  unavailable.

Possibly the same bug as #1251281, as this shows the same error.

This is preventing me from upgrading to raring, as I run 4 screens on an

I can't confirm that issue either :/

@Petar: do you still have the problem? Could you add your ~/.xsession-
errors to the bug? Could you also try to run the buggy version with
gnome-settings-daemon --debug --replace, try to use the keys and copy
the log to the bug?

[Bug 1207812] Re: iOS 7, Trust Prompt Looping

2014-03-03 Thread Michael
Pablo;

I'm sorry I'm such a noob. I don't know how to help myself. I'm using
Ubuntu 13.10 32bit. Would you be so kind as to walk me through the
steps that you used to get this working for you?

I've followed the steps noted by frog (post #148 and I get the following
error at the sudo apt-get update step.

||W: Failed to fetch
http://ppa.launchpad.net/ingo/ios7support/ubuntu/dists/saucy/main/binary-i386/Packages
  404 Not Found
||
||E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones
used instead.

I'm presuming that packages for my version of linux and Ubuntu are not
available.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.
