[Bug 384463] Re: Does not show up in applications menu (XUbuntu)
Here is a the corresponding bug on the Gnome Bugzilla: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=727473 The vino-preferences program is no longer included in the supported versions of vino, 3.10 and 3.12. The Ubuntu repository for Xubuntu 13.10 has only the unsupported version 3.6. According to the David King, a vino developer, XFCE's lack of UI support for vino prevents the vino team from officially supporting it. Vino will support XFCE if we can integrate vino-preferences into the XFCE settings dialog. David suggested creating a new package for vino-preferences. Perhaps the new package would contain some stuff to integrate it with the XFCE settings dialog. David King on Gnome Bugzilla: vino-preferences was removed in 3.10 (it should have previously been in the menus as Desktop Sharing): https://git.gnome.org/browse/vino/commit/?id=328b2e46aef14b4204d3c20e0de40bd0a69b4229 The current stable version is 3.12, and until there is an equivalent configuration UI (which could be a copy of vino-preferences split out to a separate package) I do not see much point in adding any other desktop to the autostart file. [...] There is code inside gnome-control-center to configure Vino, which is rather different than vino-preferences. Similar code would need to exist for a desktop environment before the autostart file would be changed to add that environment. Can we upgrade the package to a supported version? What do we think of David's proposal? ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #727473 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=727473 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/384463 Title: Does not show up in applications menu (XUbuntu) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vino/+bug/384463/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1292412] Re: Keyboard layout is always English(!)
I believe I ran into this today after an update. Whenever I switch to ibus the layout is English. The strange thing is that until yesterday it was de as it should be. Since this bug has been present for some weeks and I was updating regularly i wonder wonder if maybe I seeing something else after all, though. Some people were successful in resolving similar problems by removing all ibus packages. Shahar, this is something you might want to try in case you do not need ibus. Public bug reported: I have a DELL E6430 laptop with docking station. I can successfully setup a 3 monitor extended desktop (1 built-in laptop monitor + 2 external monitor with DVI) using Screen Display control panel in Ubuntu trusty. When I reboot the 3 monitors are activated but not in the right order. They are mixed up. I have to change the settings again to make it right but it's never *saved* as I have to do that at every boot. [Bug 1302077] [NEW] Hardcoded css style checks on GTK Theme instead of XGD_CURRENT_DESKTOP
Public bug reported: Hi all! In nautilus : debian/patches/ubuntu_titlebar_css.patch you have defined some style override in order to fit (if I understood correctly) nautilus in Unity window decoration. But, instead to check if it's Unity the current window manager, you do this: + settings = gtk_settings_get_default(); + g_object_get(settings, gtk-theme-name, theme_name, NULL); + + if (g_strcmp0(theme_name, Ambiance) == 0 || g_strcmp0(theme_name, Radiance) == 0) Which means: if you change theme in a Unity session, Nautilus will not override style. [Bug 1264102] [NEW] Does not play some files from a folder in samba share without a several minutes long delay even if Kaffeine plays them from there right away
You have been subscribed to a public bug: The problem files are located in certain folder, whose name is music. Files on other folders play fine. If I copy a problematic file to another folder, it plays fine there, but not in the music folder. And while it is trying to start to play the file, vlc does not respond, if I order it to quit. Even killig by signal 1 or 15 fails, but I can kill it by signal 2. It seems VLC can read the file; it can show media information. After several minutes playback starts. [Bug 1264102] Re: Does not play some files from a folder in samba share without a several minutes long delay even if Kaffeine plays them from there right away
This is not a Samba share. This is a userspace filesystem that is insanely slow at listing directory content. In other words, this is a performance problem inside GVFS. You should rather avoid GVFS. Either mount the SMB filesystem natively (with kernel CIFS support), or supply VLC with the original smb:// URL. ** Package changed: vlc (Ubuntu) = gvfs (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: gvfs (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = New ** Summary changed: - Does not play some files from a folder in samba share without a several minutes long delay even if Kaffeine plays them from there right away + gvfs takes ages to list SMB directory content from VLC -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1264102 Title: gvfs takes ages to list SMB directory content from VLC To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/1264102/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1302331] [NEW] org.freedesktop.login1.service references non-existant systemd-logind-launcher, gdm will not start
Public bug reported: debian/patches/debian-changes alters systemd-204/src/login/org.freedesktop.login1.service to exec /lib/systemd/systemd-logind-launch, instead of /bin/false. systemd-logind-launch is in debian/, and the override_dh_install rule in debian/rules does an install. Sadly, systemd-logind-launch is not listed in systemd-services.install, so it does not actually get built into the package. The result is a Ubuntu Gnome 14.04 installation which will sit on the booting screen indefinitely, with gdm refusing to start. This was not happening in 204-5ubuntu13, and is happening in 204-5ubuntu16. Manually copiing systemd-logind-launch from the source package to /lib/systemd results in a booting system once more. (Well, you could alawys switch VTs and login that way, but that is not all that useful for most people.) The correct fix appears to simply be adding lib/system/systemd-logind- launch to debian/systemd/services.install in the source package. Zephaniah E. Loss-Cutler-Hull.
