[Bug 1244548] Re: Keyboard shortcut for changing keyboard layout does not work on lock screen

2014-04-21 Thread Norbert
Upgraded my 12.04 to 14.04. I have gnome-screensaver installed, so if I
lock my laptop with Ctrl+Alt+L I unable to switch keyboard layout on the
lockscreen. So the bug is not fixed.

[Bug 1244090] Re: Pressing keyboard shortcut to switch keyboard layout causes temporary loss of focus

2014-04-21 Thread Norbert
** Tags removed: amd64
** Tags added: trusty trusty-desktop

** Description changed:

When pressing keyboard shourtcut for switching keyboard layout, focus
temporary switches from active text input to something else, then
restores back when releasing keys used to switch. Maybe even active
window loses focus, but window frame does not shows this (window header
  remains to look active).

For example: when I press ctrl+shift here, when writing this
description, yellow frame disappears from text input box, text caret
disappears too; they appear again when releasing ctrl+shift. The same
occurs in all other programs, i.e. terminal.

It causes serious annoyance, for example in Twitter when losing focus in
Reply text box, reply rolls up and I have to click it again with mouse
and set caret to correct place each time I switch keyboard layouts.

Other key combinations, not only ctrl+shift, also cause this.

[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.

2014-04-21 Thread Norbert
Successfully upgraded my 12.04 to 14.04.
In 12.04 I had Alt+Shift L for layout swithing, so I set this combination on
the first login in 14.04 ('gnome-control-center keyboard' for GNOME FlashBack,
'unity-control-center keyboard') to Alt+Shift L and it works as expected.
So keyboard layout switching is working, so this bug seems to be fixed.

But there are other bugs, which are not fixed:
* bug 1299519 - Unable to rename new folder in GtkFileChooserDialog while
changing keyboard layout
this bug is related to bug 1244090 - Pressing keyboard shortcut to switch
keyboard layout causes temporary loss of focus
* bug 1280759 - Unity shortcuts (Super+A/F/M/C/V) do not work on non-latin
layout in Trusty - shortcuts are defined via keyboard layout, not the keys
* bug 1226962 - Hotkeys not functional in non-latin keyboard layout in 13.10
and 14.04
works in Unity, but not in GNOME FlashBack sessions
* bug 1245473 - Binding ctrl+shift, alt+shift, etc for switching keyboard
layout makes shortcuts with ctrl+shift, etc not working in any program
works in Unity, but not in GNOME FlashBack sessions
* bug 1245137 - hotkeys for keyboard layout switching do not work in
unity-greeter in Saucy and Trusty
* bug 1244548 - Keyboard shortcut for changing keyboard layout does not work on
lock screen
this bug is fixed for unity-greeter, but is not fixed for gnome-screensaver

[Bug 1310493] [NEW] Hidden files in the home folder are being displayed by default every time a new window is opened or the application relaunced.

2014-04-21 Thread Pradyumna N Nadig
Public bug reported:

When I open nautilus, a new window to the home folder, the hidden files
get displayed by default even if their display is toggled off. Even
though this is very minor issue, it is very distracting for the user to
see all the hidden files every time he/she opens or launches a new
window using nautilus. This is strictly a graphical issue.

I am using Ubuntu 14.04. To reproduce the issue,

- Open nautilus or launch a new window which displays the home folder.
- You will find the hidden files being displayed by default.
- Hide them using Ctrl+H and close that window.
- Open the home folder again, and you can notice that these hidden files being
displayed by default again.

[Bug 1270574] Re: keyboard layout settings must be consistent between gnome-control-center keyboard, indicator-keyboard and gnome-tweak-tool and /etc/default/keyboard

2014-04-21 Thread Norbert
** Description changed:

  Dear Ubuntu developers.

Ubuntu 14.04 LTS will be released very soon. It seems that it will be
based on GNOME 3.8 or 3.10 (you know exact version).

It seems that because of modern GNOME Ubuntu users will have very
reduced set of keyboard layout options.

Previous Ubuntu LTS version (12.04) was based on GNOME 3.4 and have very
wide spectrum of keyboard layout options. But in newer GNOME versions,
on which for example, Ubuntu 13.10 is based, this options are very
  limited.

Many options are moved from gnome-control-center keyboard to gnome-
  tweak-tool (see bug 1245064).

I have suggested already to include gnome-tweak-tool in default Ubuntu
  14.04 installation (see bug 1270572).

But for now it seems that settings between gnome-tweak-tool,
gnome-control-center and indicator-keyboard are not consistent.
- For example, if I set
+ For example, if I set
Use keyboard LED to show alternative layout to Scroll Lock
on Typing section of gnome-tweak-tool the Scroll Lock does not indicate
alternative keyboard layout as expected (it is a bug).

So please, keep settings between gnome-tweak-tool, gnome-control-center
  and indicator-keyboard consistent.
+

bug 1218322.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This particular bug has already been reported and is a
duplicate of bug 1247221, so it is being marked as such. Please look at
the other bug report to see if there is any missing information that you
can provide. Additionally, any further discussion regarding the bug
should occur in the other report.

You can workaround this issue by following the steps below:

2. Uncheck option 'Show hidden and backup files'

That should make Nautilus remember the show hidden files setting toggled
via Ctrl+H or View-Show hidden files.

Feel free to continue to report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 1310503] [NEW] gnome-control-center doesnt have all translations

2014-04-21 Thread Redmar
Public bug reported:

gnome-control-center does not appear fully translated, even though it is
fully translated in launchpad. For example, the following string from
the Appearance tab has been translated in launchpad since 2013, but
still appears untranslated in an up to date install of trusty.

https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/trusty/+source/gnome-control-
center-unity/+pots/gnome-control-center-
unity/nl/+translate?batch=10show=allsearch=Add+show+desktop

One thing that might be related is the switch from gnome-control-center to
gnome-control-center-unity. This bug is filed against gnome-control-center,
since gnome-control-center-unity is not installed on my system. However,
gnome-control-center-unity is what is listed as the template to translate in

gnome-control-center also exists in launchpad, but it keeps timing out so I
can't check the status of that string, see:
https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/trusty/+source/gnome-control-center/+pots/gnome-control-center-2.0/nl/+translate

[Bug 74340] Re: Rhythmbox can't display non-english characters

2014-04-21 Thread Walter Garcia-Fontes
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many
changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem
may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if
you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test
it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running
apport-collect bug # and any other logs that are relevant for this
particular issue.

[Bug 1247221] Re: Nautilus doesn't remember setting for showing hidden files correctly when org.gtk.Settings.FileChooser show-hidden is true

2014-04-21 Thread Eric Ongerth
My similar bug report on 14.04 got linked to this one. But mine is not
identical.

The difference: on this report the original poster writes, When changed
via gui the setting is remembered correctly. In my case that is not
true. No matter whether I use Ctrl+H or View Show Hidden Files, the
setting is never remembered after I close nautilus.

If I'm remembering correctly, this used to be remembered. In 14.04 the
*preference* for it is remembered (in Edit Preferences) but the
current value of the setting is not remembered.

Something that should be added to the symptoms in this bug report: it's
not just that the setting is not remembered; it's also that the
preference (In Edit Preferences Views ) is apparently set to Show
Hidden and Backup Files by default when you install or upgrade. That
probably was not the intended behavior.

[Bug 1310503] Re: gnome-control-center doesnt have all translations

2014-04-21 Thread Yuri Chornoivan
In fact, the application that is used in Ubuntu is called unity-
control-center although it is ~95% identical to gnome-control-center.

The corresponding catalog is on the end of the 14.04 catalog list, so
the message that was mentioned is not translated into Dutch:

[Bug 1247221] Re: Nautilus doesn't remember setting for showing hidden files correctly when org.gtk.Settings.FileChooser show-hidden is true

2014-04-21 Thread Eric Ongerth
Technically, the title of this bug report is a little misleading.

It says Nautilus doesn't remember setting for showing hidden files
correctly when org.gtk.Settings.FileChooser show-hidden is true.

But nautilus also doesn't remember the setting when the preference is
false. So the title of this discussion is giving the false impression
that this problem is only happening in one of those two cases, when
actually it is both.

...Or else I have a distinctly different bug.

[Bug 1274726] Re: CTRL+Space does not work to play/pause

2014-04-21 Thread Walter Garcia-Fontes
Yes, you are right, this looks like a bug in the menu entry.

** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #728641
   https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=728641

** Also affects: rhythmbox via
   https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=728641
   Importance: Unknown
   Status: Unknown

** Summary changed:

- CTRL+Space does not work to play/pause
+ Rhythmbox Control menu states that Control-Space controls play/pause, but
actually Control-P is the shortcut

** Description changed:

The keyboard shortcut for play/pause is documented in the help system of
rhythmbox 2.99.1 as being CTRL+Spacebar (which is what I'm used to), but
it doesn't work. Playing a song, then hitting CTRL+Space does not pause
it, it just seems to toggle the highlighting of the current track down
in the tracks pane. Can we please restore the behavior of CTRL+Spacebar?
+
+ In Rhythmbox 3.0.2 the shorcut Control-P is what is being used for this
+ functionality, but Control-space is still being mentioned in the
+ Control menu.

[Bug 947038] Re: Rhythmbox: Add to Playlist option creates a playlist with an empty name

2014-04-21 Thread Ghislain Vaillant
Still applicable to the version of Rhytmbox shipped with 12.04. This bug
is still not fixed in the latest version in 14.04, although the
behaviour has changed a bit.

In Rhythmbox v3.0.1, Add to Playlist - New Playlist still creates a
Playlist with a blank name but moves straight to renaming mode to allow
the user to enter a playlist name right after adding the files. However,
one can still create a playlist with a blank name inadvertently by just
clicking somewhere else.

A more adequate behaviour would be to provide New Playlist as default
name regardless and keep the current behaviour of moving to renaming
mode should the user choose to rename the playlist to a different name
straight away.

In Spanish that sentence is ok too. I guess this bug should be closed as
Invalid as there is no problem at all with the translations.

Existing gnome-control-center translations were copied into unity-

[Bug 1310174] Re: cryptsetup should be included and installed by default in ubuntu 14.04

2014-04-21 Thread suokunlong
Steve Langasek (vorlon) wrote on 2014-04-20:#2

Cryptsetup was never installed by default in Ubuntu; it was only
installed if you selected encryption in the installer.

I never explicitly installed cryptsetup during my previous ubuntu
versions (and I did not choose encrypt option), but I always could
unlock my luks device. I will check this for 13.10 in a vbox later.

However, even if cryptsetup is not installed by default, in nautiles
when it do not find cryptsetup it should give some useful infomation
(e.g., cryptsetup is not installed in your system, please install...,
or just ask the user whether he would like to install it), rather than
giving the useless error message.

however, you say this was an upgrade, and it also should not have been
removed on upgrade. Please attach your upgrade logs from /var/log/apt
/dist-upgrade.

By saying UPGRADE, I mean remove Ubuntu 13.10 and install 14.04, so no
logs.

Obviously that may be radeon/Xorg/Compiz the culprit, not gnome-

[Bug 1205055] Re: Impossible to change column width of Nautilus in list view

2014-04-21 Thread Gustavo L
I'm on Ubuntu 14.04 (32) and this is happening for any window in list
mode, not only trash.

When I maximize the window, I can resize the name column to the right to
the point where the remaining columns fit. After that, it isn't possible
(but, at least, you have a much greater name column).

I think what's missing here is a horizontal scroll bar that would show
whenever resizing hides remaining columns.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

I can confirm that the Sound Recorder does not work on a clean install
of Ubuntu 14.04 x86 on a Dell laptop.

As a workaround I installed Audio Recorder from

[Bug 1310782] [NEW] Zoom in shortcut should be =/+, not shift +

2014-04-21 Thread Aibara Iduas
Public bug reported:

In Ubuntu 14.04, the Evince/Document viewer (version 3.10.3) the zoom in
keyboard shortcut is no longer just the =/+ key but now requires the
shift key to be held down.

I assume this is a regression, since every previous version of Evince
simply mapped zoom in to =.+, no shift required. The Zoom out shortcut
is unchanged (the -/_ key).

[Bug 1310887] [NEW] Rhythmbox tries to open non-audio files and crashes.

2014-04-21 Thread Shelagh
Public bug reported:

When there are .mood files left over from Amarok or Clementine sometimes
Rhythmbox will crash. I have to find what file Rhythmbox was trying to play and
go to that folder and delete the (corrupted .mood file).
In the --debug logs the mood file is being read as a pixbuf file. I'm guessing
that this means the file has somehow been corrupted. My file manager also shows
the file in question as being an image file. I think mood files are supposed to
be simple text files.
My real question is why does Rhythmbox just not ignore files which are not
audio files rather than crashing?
I'm using Rhythmbox 2.96
and I'm happy to post a debug log next time it happens if you like.

[Bug 1310902] [NEW] turn on screen magnifier on login screen will render it unusable

Public bug reported:

steps to reproduce the bug:
1, log out to the user switching screen
2, turn on larger text(not sure if necessary) and zoom in in universal

unlike what you would expect, the screen zooms in, the cursor becomes
giant, then, everything freezes(a giant cursor in the middle of the
noisy gray background), a small mouse cursor can be moved around, but
there's nothing to click.
