[Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates

2014-04-29 Thread David Henningsson
Ok, I first did a quick test here and my BT headset paired, showed up in
sound settings, worked as usual, and profile was selectable. So at least
the problem is not *that* generic.

Anyway, module-bluetooth-discover is loaded from /etc/pulse/default.pa,
which is run every time pulseaudio starts. If it did not load, hopefully
there is some related error in syslog.

So if you can verify that module-bluetooth-discover is indeed *not* loaded (i e
does not show up in pactl list modules), hopefully there should be an error
message in syslog indicating why it did not start. So, could you do a:
grep pulseaudio.*bluetooth /var/log/syslog
...to see if you find anything that looks suspicious?

Thanks!

[Bug 1314072] [NEW] EyeOfGnome scales images wrong

2014-04-29 Thread Full name
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 14.04
Linux ubuntu 3.13.0-24-generic #46-Ubuntu SMP Thu Apr 10 19:11:08 UTC 2014
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

For some images, EyeOfGnome says they are at 100% size, but they are actually
scaled down and blurry.

Example: http://imgur.com/6Of8vHE

Download that image and view it in EOG. Even when there is enough screen
space to view the image at 100%, it will be scaled down a little bit
despite saying it's at 100%.

2014-04-29 Thread Omid Amraei
I had the same problem in 13.10 and still exists in 14.04 32bit. When
just one window is opened and minimised, clicking on nautilus icon on
launchbar will opens a new window instead of maximising the minimized
window.

It really doesn't matter which folder is opened. It always happens.

[Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates

2014-04-29 Thread zig59
Like you David, my BT headset is paired and connecting when switched on.
The profile is also showing up in Sound Settings.

In my case though, the profile is not being autoselected in Sound
Settings and manually selecting it does nothing. Sound is still routed
through the wired amplified speakers.

pactl list | grep -i module-bluetooth-discover simply shows
Name: module-bluetooth-discover

Prior to switching on the headset: grep pulseaudio.*bluetooth
/var/log/syslog shows nothing.

Post switching on the headset: grep pulseaudio.*bluetooth /var/log/syslog
shows
pulseaudio[1928]: [pulseaudio] module.c: Module module-bluetooth-discover
should be loaded once at most. Refusing to load.

  pulseaudio[1928]: [pulseaudio] module-bluetooth-device.c: Failed to
acquire transport /org/bluez/716/hci0/dev_00_0C_55_D1_91_ED/fd0

For this error, if it appears when you're trying to switch to the
headset, it looks like something on the bluez side. Look for bluez
errors in syslog right above this line. Also make sure
/etc/bluetooth/audio.conf is unchanged (in particular, the socket

[Bug 1310929] Re: Panel menu-bar applet crashes after adding indicator-applet-appmenu

2014-04-29 Thread Alberts Muktupāvels
This package fixes this bug, but will introduce new one, but I think
that will be easy to fix.

This is how I tested it:
1) Installed trusty in virtual box.
2) Installed gnome-panel and indicator-applet-appmenu.
3) Logged in gnome flashback session with metacity.
4) Added indicator-appelet-appmenu. Menu bar applet disappeared.
5) Enabled -proposed and upgraded gnome-panel.
6) Logged out and logged in. Menu bar does not disappear.

New bug:
Launching application from Applications menu will inherit UBUNTU_MENUPROXY
environment varibale - menu won't be removed from application and added to
indicator applet. I have idea how to fix it, so I probably will provide fix for
it today.

I will set tag to verification-done as this fix main (reported) problem
and new bug won't make system unusable.

[Bug 1313522] [NEW] There is hibernate option even without an active swap partition

displayed in the system dropdown menu, even if there is no active swap

[Bug 1244090] Re: Pressing any global keyboard shortcut causes temporary loss of focus

2014-04-29 Thread kolen
Discovered that loss of focus is caused by GrabAccelerator dbus method,
handled by compiz. Gnome/unity-settings-daemon does not make focus go
away by itself. You can try following script:

#!/usr/bin/python
import dbus
bus = dbus.SessionBus()
o = bus.get_object('org.gnome.Shell', '/org/gnome/Shell')
code = o.GrabAccelerator('1', 0, dbus_interface='org.gnome.Shell')
try:
raw_input(Grab set to key '1', press Enter to continue and ungrab)
finally:
  print o.UngrabAccelerator(code, dbus_interface='org.gnome.Shell')

It sets grab to '1' key, then pressing '1' causes the same effects of
losing focus (blink of cursor in terminal; cancel of rename in Nautilus,
etc).

I didn't remove unity-settings-daemon from this bug because maybe it
uses this dbus method for wrong purpose (maybe it's not suited for
binding keys for switching keyboard).

[Bug 1313522] Re: There is hibernate option even without an active swap partition

2014-04-29 Thread Martin Pitt
Patches backported from newer systemd, committed:
http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-
systemd/systemd.git;a=commitdiff;h=2ecac75111a5b

I tested this on a system without swap and with a swap partition. It
also supports swap files, but I haven't explicitly tested that.

** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu)
Status: In Progress = Fix Committed

** Description changed:

In Ubuntu 13.10 and 14.04 the hibernate option will always be
displayed in the system dropdown menu, even if there is no active swap
partition. Click the hibernate option will perform the hibernate
operation but will fail during the process.

As a contrast, in Ubuntu 13.04 and earlier releases the hibernate
option is visible only if there is active swap partition.
+
+ FIX: http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-
+ systemd/systemd.git;a=commitdiff;h=2ecac75111a (backported from
+ upstream)

** Also affects: systemd (Ubuntu Trusty)
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New

** Also affects: systemd (Ubuntu Utopic)
   Importance: Medium
 Assignee: Martin Pitt (pitti)
   Status: Fix Committed

I think this will be solved when the Gnome PPA for Trusty is fully

[Bug 1261060] Re: sometime empathy chat dialogs open empty/with a negative unread count

2014-04-29 Thread Chris J Arges
Hello _dan_, or anyone else affected,

Accepted empathy into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/3.8.6-0ubuntu9.1 in a few
hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

Public bug reported:

No matter what is in xorg.conf or gnome monitors.xml, display settings
including monitor position and resolution are applied upon logging into
Gnome Shell. The only workaround right now is to kill gnome-settings-
daemon and restart it while in the session, which will apply the
settings.
