[Bug 1314904] [NEW] Remote publishing does not work in GNOME/XFCE on trusty

2014-05-01 Thread Jens Georg
Public bug reported:

When selecting another publishing destination than Piwigo, the dialog
closes itself.

In the console the following output can be seen:

21:38 z4nD4R (shotwell:12245): GLib-GIO-CRITICAL **:
g_app_info_get_commandline: assertion 'G_IS_APP_INFO (appinfo)' failed
21:38 z4nD4R (shotwell:12245): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_spawn_command_line_async:
assertion 'command_line != NULL' failed
2

This is due to the UOA integration patch which is not installed on XFCE
or GNOME flavour.

Either the dependencies need to be fixed or a non-*OA version needs to
be provided.

I'm happy to see that this bug has been more or less resolved in 14.04
by changing the dialog to a less intrusive notification.

[Bug 1315025] [NEW] gnome-terminal transparency works only when dialog appears.

2014-05-01 Thread David Walker
Public bug reported:

Synopses:
gnome-terminal will use a solid background color, regardless of the setting.
UNLESS, I make gnome-terminal display a dialog box. In the contained video
you'll see a terminal with a black-background (in an ssh session) when I try
and close it, I get a dialog asking if I want to close the window with a
running program. When the dialog appears, the background goes to true
transparency. When I cancel it goes back to solid. I then change the setting
of transparency and you can see that the setting is working, only when dialog
happens.

Expectation:
I expect gnome-terminal background to respect the transparency setting all the
time, and not just when a dialog appears.

[Bug 1012277] Re: Closing laptop lid should not blank external monitor

2014-05-01 Thread Lupius
This bug still affects Ubuntu 14.04. I tried the workaround by
Installing xscreensaver and disabling it, but all that does is showing
the mouse cursor on the blank screen.

Use case:
1. Connect laptop to external monitor.
2. Show information on external monitor.
3. Close lid on laptop.
4. Keep showing information on external monitor.

[Bug 1310492] Re: Hidden files in the home folder are being displayed by default every time a new window is opened or the application relaunced.

2014-05-01 Thread Ben Linsey-Bloom
This affects me too.

Pressing Ctrl + H toggles hidden files correctly until a new nautilus
window is opened.

I've checked dconf-editor as suggested in
http://www.maketecheasier.com/nautilus-disable-show-hidden-files/
and show-hidden-files is false/unchecked, but it doesn't change behaviour of
newly opened windows.

Going to nautilus preferences and un-checking 'show hidden and backup
files' seems to reset the default preference for new windows.

It seems confusing to me to have two different toggles
 - a global default for newly opened windows (nautilus preferences dialogue)
- and a toggle for the state of the current window (Ctrl + H)

In previous versions there was only one toggle which switched both
visibility in the current window, and newly opening windows (the single
toggle was accessible both with Ctrl + H and the preferences dialogue).

This is kind of hard to explain clearly...

[Bug 1314971] Re: Potential Security Issue - Having multiple users logins the administrator account without asking for password

2014-05-01 Thread Seth Arnold
I tried to recreate this problem without success; when I created another
non-administrator account, assigned both accounts passwords, and
returned to the gdm screen it sat there blankly waiting for input.

Please run apport-collect 1314971 to attach some debugging information
to this bug report; perhaps we'll be able to discover the issue with
more information.

Thanks

** Description changed:

I have two user accounts setup:

 1. Aditya (Administrator)
 2. Mohit (Standard User)

Both the accounts have passwords on them and Automatic Login is off
  for both of them.

When I reboot, two cases happen:

  1. If I don't select which user account I want to login (Administrator
account is autoselected initially), GNOME waits for about ~5 secs and
then starts displaying a progress bar around the Adminstrator Account
(Aditya) indicating that this account would login when it reaches 100%
(it takes about 10 secs for progress bar to finish). Once the progress
bar finished, it logs the Administrator without asking for user password
and anyone can use the account without knowing the password at all.

  2. Even when I select the Standard Account (Mohit) (but don't press
return/enter - ie; I don't reach the password screen for Mohit) then
GNOME waits for about ~5 secs and thereafter selects the Administrator
Account (Aditya) by itself and repeats case 1 mentioned above.

However, since I have the Online Accounts setup, it nags me a couple
of times initially after login to enter the password, but I can just
press Escape and don't need to enter the password. (The Online Accounts
feature don't work as expected since I don't provide the password to
  it).

2014-05-01 Thread Seth Arnold
Thanks for uploading the additional information; this looks like
intentional behaviour:

TimedLoginEnable=true
TimedLogin=aditya
TimedLoginDelay=10

I suspect removing these lines from your /etc/gdm/custom.conf and then
restarting gdm would solve your issue.

Thanks

[Bug 1315122] [NEW] Keyboard indicator shows wrong layout, and default layout is not active

2014-05-01 Thread Ketil
Public bug reported:

I have Norwegian set as the default layout, and English as the secondary
layout. Suddenly passwords stop working, and if I test my keyboard
somewhere my writing is visible, I can see that the English layout is
actually the one that is active, even though Norwegian is my default
layout and it is the one that is shown as active in my indicator. I
never change this (on purpose anyway). Just choosing Norwegian again
solves the problem.

This has happened at the Ubuntu login prompt, but it has usually worked
fine. I often suspend and then wake the computer again later, and I
can't recall experiencing this at that point, but suddenly a login
online fails later. It could be that I've hit some key combo, but the
indicator still shows the wrong layout if that's the case.

I had this same issue with Ubuntu 13.10 (though never before, and as you
can see I've been upgrading my Ubuntu since 11.10 or something like
that), but I figured it'd probably just be ignored if I reported it
since 14.04 was around the corner, but I've already experienced the same
with Ubuntu 14.04.

[Bug 1314971] Re: Potential Security Issue - Having multiple users logins the administrator account without asking for password

2014-05-01 Thread Aditya
Hi Seth Arnold,

That does fix the issue. But shouldn't this default behavior change. I
never touched that file myself (at least not intentionally). I had
once/twice enabled automatic login for accounts (using System Settings
User Accounts), but disabled it afterwards. Disabling it should have
made necessary changes to those files. Can you please try that? I would
also try to enable automatic login once again and then disable it to see
if this problem pops up once again.

Thanks for the help.

[Bug 1314971] Re: Potential Security Issue - Having multiple users logins the administrator account without asking for password

2014-05-01 Thread Seth Arnold
I couldn't reproduce the timed login by enabling and disabling automatic
account logins either. I'm not sure how the configuration options got
set, hopefully a gnome expert will spot this and point out where those
settings are exposed to users.

Thanks

[Bug 1315164] [NEW] list view of Trash content is broken

2014-05-01 Thread matteo sisti sette
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:
- click on the Trash can on the bottom of the Launcher
- select list view, as opposed to grid view.

It is completely broken and unusable.

Main issues:
- the default width of the Name column is ridiculously small. Names longer than
just 2 or 3 characters show up as ...
- columns cannot be resized!! (making the first issue a critical one)
- every time the window is moved or resized or it gains or looses focus, the
Type column changes its width a few times in a ridiculous dance that lasts
about one second

Another issue, minor if compared with the above, is that thumbnails are
not shown for images, neither in list view nor in grid view.

+ [Test Case]
+ 1. Open a nautilus window
+ 2. In sidebar, click Connect to Network
+ 3. Enter network address ftp://ftp.debian.org/;
+ 4. Click connect in both dialogs
+ 5. Press eject button beside ftp.debian.org entry that appears in sidebar
+ 6. In sidebar, click Connect to Network
+ 7. Enter network address ftp://ftp.debian.org/;
+ 8. Click connect in both dialogs
+
+ Expected result:
+ In both steps 4 and 8 you are reconnected to ftp.debian.org and can browse
files on that server
+
+ Observed result:
+ The first connect (step 4) works and nautilus crashes on the second attempt
(step 8)
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ The fix is adding a missing unref call in the code which is a simple memory
leak bug and is unlikely to have negative consequences. Could expose any
existing unref bug that may be hidden by this leak.

[Bug 1187889] Re: Empathy accounts window crashes when I click on my gmail account

2014-05-01 Thread Walter Garcia-Fontes
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many
changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem
may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if
you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test
it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running
apport-collect bug # and any other logs that are relevant for this
particular issue.
