[Bug 887821] Re: Show copy dialog right click launcher entry doesn't work (on nautilus copy)
I believe this issue still exists today in a fully updated 13.10. nautilus --version GNOME nautilus 3.8.2 unity --version unity 7.1.2 The copy progress window seldom or never appears on my install neither on the desktop nor in alt-tab super-1. Not on any of the four virtual desktop spaces either. The right-click show copy window (or whatever it says on English-language installs) does not do anything. This has on several occasions made me think the copying was finished so I deleted the source files and only found out about my misstake after being greeted with the error while copying dialog window when the file that is apparently being copied has been removed. Interestingly enough the side-bar seems to appear and shake the file manager icon when the copying has finished, not sure how useful that is on its own though, and I don't know if that notification stays on screen if I am AFK or just looking away for a moment. Also copying seems to be very taxing on my computer -(i7 CPU with samsung 530 SSD) the UI becomes somewhat unresponsive while copying large files to backup USB-disks. This could possibly affect the main issue of the progress window not being displayed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/887821 Title: Show copy dialog right click launcher entry doesn't work (on nautilus copy) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/887821/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1319864] [NEW] Backport rewrap UI setting
Public bug reported: Currently Utopic has vte-0.36 (from Gnome 3.12) and gnome-terminal-3.6 (from Gnome 3.6). Should you decide not to upgrade gnome-terminal (which would be a really bad idea because these two components are so strongly related – bug 1261619), please at least backport the rewrap config option: https://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome- terminal/commit/?id=53f322af985fd244a1a9a7a67c79e5263d0fc090 (plus its translations). vte-0.36 added a new feature that it can rewrap the lines when the window width changes. In the mean time, gnome-terminal supports arbitrarily large and even infinite scrollbacks, and rewrapping a large amount of data requires a lot of time, which might significantly slow down the resize for those who have a large scrollback. We couldn't come up with a better idea than to delegate this decision to the user: they should decide if they're willing to pay the price of waiting for having both large scrollback and rewrap at the same time, or not. Pairing up vte-0.36 with gnome-terminal 3.6 (without the backporting of this feature) forces the slowdown for everyone who chooses to have a large scrollback and then resizes the window. This – without the possibility of disabling rewrapping – might be a terrible user experience. (But, even much better: ideally you should address this bug by updating gnome-terminal to 3.12.) I have not changed anything; same settings as both fresh new installations and NO PPA is added. [Bug 1311213] Re: Evolution 3.10.4 with EWS plugin: Calendar locks up application
Hello Val, or anyone else affected, Accepted evolution-data-server into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /evolution-data-server/3.10.4-0ubuntu1.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision. Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance! ** Description changed: * Impact: e-d-s client might lock when ews calendars are in use * Test case: - configure an ews calendar, check that the indicator-datime indicator still runs correctly + configure an ews calendar, check that the indicator-datetime indicator still runs correctly * Regression potential: Check that calendars work correctly in evolution and in the indicator -- I ran into what appears to be a nasty bug with running the Evolution email client 3.10.4 downloaded from the Ubuntu 14.04 Software Center with the Exchange Web Services (EWS) plugin. After configuring my work Exchange account using EWS, email, contacts, and calendar reminders appear to be working with no problems. Yet, when I click on the Calendar button to view my calendar and change to Month view, Evolution completely locks up. I manually killed all Evolution- related processes using the system monitor, but re-launching Evolution takes me back directly to the Calendar, freezing the email client once again. If I wait long enough (about 15 - 20min) the email client seems to return back to normal, but will freeze again if I click Calendar once more. I was able to recreate the issue on a VM as well. I also verified the issue exists with vanilla Ubuntu Desktop 14.04 and Ubuntu GNOME 14.04. All tests were run and confirmed on 64-bit releases. I did a little research before posting and found someone had the exact same problem with Evolution running on Fedora. The original link can be found here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1075461 The issue appears to be with the evolution-data-server component, and a patched version of the component evolution-data-server-3.10.4-3 was released to resolve the issue. I tried looking online for an Ubuntu compatible version of the patch but have fallen short. ** Also affects: evolution-data-server (Ubuntu Trusty) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: evolution-ews (Ubuntu Trusty) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: evolution-data-server (Ubuntu Trusty) Status: New = Triaged ** Changed in: evolution-data-server (Ubuntu Trusty) Importance: Undecided = High ** Changed in: evolution-ews (Ubuntu Trusty) Status: New = Opinion ** Changed in: evolution-ews (Ubuntu Trusty) Status: Opinion = Invalid ** Changed in: evolution-data-server (Ubuntu Trusty) Status: Triaged = Fix Committed ** Tags added: verification-needed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution-data-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1311213 Title: Evolution 3.10.4 with EWS plugin: Calendar locks up application To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution-data-server/+bug/1311213/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 334082] Re: Most mp3 files listed with Unknown length
I just wrote a python skript which removes all defect entries (which have no duration tag) from rhythmbox's database. Store the script to your home directory, close rhythmbox and open a terminal. Run the following commands: chmod u+x repairRhythmDb.py ./repairRhythmDb.py mv .local/share/rhythmbox/rhytmdb.xml ./backupRhythmDb.xml mv repaired_rhythmdb.xml .local/share/rhythmbox/rhythmdb.xml Restard rhythmbox. It will add all files which have been removed because of their missing duration. Hopefully all of them will appear with a correct length afterwards. If not just run the last three commands again (while rhythmbox is closed). With the help of the script my database of about 10,000 audio files was fixed after two runs. Interesting fact: while coding the script I deleted the rhythmdb.xml- file an started rhythmbox to regenerate it. Suddenly only about 1% had a missing length. Yesterday I ended up with 30% of the files with missing duration. I can't remember any software change between yesterday and today. ** Attachment added: Skript which removes defect entries from rhythmbox database https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/334082/+attachment/4113429/+files/repairRhythmDb.py ** Changed in: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/334082 Title: Most mp3 files listed with Unknown length To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/334082/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

(In reply to comment #1) The issue reported there seems to be also what makes evince fails to render some eps files on e.g recent Ubuntu versions That has been reported on https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=710957 https://bugs.launchpad.net/libspectre/+bug/1242678 http://bugs.ghostscript.com/show_bug.cgi?id=694979 The ghostscript bugs has details ... Basically, this isn't a bug. If you want to rotate an EPS you absolutely should NOT be doing so by using /Orientation, which is a media selection parameter. You should instead use '90 rotate' or similar to set up the CTM before you render the EPS. @Marek: I tried your patch on some of the files from the Ubuntu bug, e.g https://bugs.launchpad.net/libspectre/+bug/1242678/+attachment/3886169/ +files/test.eps ... it fixes the nothing is displayed but the orientation seems wrong (rotated from 90° compared to gs and 180° compared to what portrait should be (e.g axis/labels are wrong)). Not sure if that's a bug in the documents or in the change though I think that the problem is in evince. It sets wrong angle for rendering with spectre_render_context_set_rotation() from my point of view. evince rotates to left by setting new angle to original_angle - 90. If you reverse the value passed by evince to libspectre (360 - angle) then it works as expected. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evince in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1242678 Title: evince cannot render some EPS files To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/evince/+bug/1242678/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

After the setup and before the pages? Yes, it ends up there. Isn't it recommended to apply the rotation after the translation? I think we could move this to spectre_gs_process, after the translate. We pass the rotation to spectre_gs_process and when it's != NONE we inject the rotate command there. What do you think? I moved it there. Unfortunately I've found a PostScript file on which the patch doesn't work. It shows the file with the original rotation for each rotation. It is due to setpagedevice and PageSize are employed there (see next attachment). I'm not sure what to do with it yet. [Bug 1311213] Re: Evolution 3.10.4 with EWS plugin: Calendar locks up application
Brian, Unfortunately I'm seeing the same behavior even with this patch on my test environments. I enabled Trusty-Proposed updates on my package manager and installed the patch with: sudo apt-get install evolution-data-server/trusty-proposed I verified through dpkg -s evolution-data-server that I do indeed have 3.10.4-0ubuntu1.1 installed. Clicking from Inbox to Calendar still freezes the client entirely for several minutes before allowing me to click back to Inbox, just as before. I restarted the system, deleted and re-added my Exchange account, but nothing seems to help. I verified this with Ubuntu 14.04 and Ubuntu GNOME 14.04. [Bug 1320047] [NEW] Touchscreen Doesn't Work with External Monitor
Public bug reported: Using Ubuntu 14.04, my laptop's touchscreen becomes uncalibrated when an external monitor is plugged in. I expect touches to line up correctly on the touchscreen monitor. Instead, touches are proportional to the entire display server (i.e. Touching halfway on the touchscreen results in a touch input exactly between the two monitors). ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1320047 Title: Touchscreen Doesn't Work with External Monitor To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1320047/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1203592] Re: Keyboard backlight does not work in Samsung Series 9 NP900X4C
Keyboard backlight does not work in my Samsung NP900X4B as well. I am running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS with UEFI disabled. The strange thing is that I had it working on my first installation of Ubuntu on this notebook. I was running Ubuntu 12.04 at that time. Later on, when I upgraded Ubuntu to 13.04, keyboard backlight ceased to work. It appears that Kieran Clancy's solution is specific to UEFI mode. Would it be possible to do something similar with UEFI disabled? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1203592 Title: Keyboard backlight does not work in Samsung Series 9 NP900X4C To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/1203592/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
