[Bug 1226962] Re: Hotkeys not functional in non-latin keyboard layout in 13.10 and 14.04

2014-05-16 Thread DEDan
William, I have a few thoughts on the impossibility of keyboard input. I
remembered that after upgrading to 13.10 this bug was fixed by removing
or restart ibus. But in 14.04 removing ibus will remove many other
packages. For a similar bug has already been said here

[Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates

2014-05-16 Thread Mr Lee
I'm struggling with this bug as well. My situation seems to be nearly
the same as Kiori's, except that even with Blueman pairing the speaker
successfully, it still doesn't show up in PulseAudio control.

It did work for a short while about a week ago, but then it stopped, and
though I've tried to do everything I did before, and more, it hasn't
worked again.

Pulseaudio-module-bluetooth is installed. Loading module-bluetooth-
discover doesn't seem to help. Same with adjustments to audio.conf
(though to get the device to pair, it seems that sink and socket
must be enabled).

[Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates

2014-05-16 Thread Mr Lee
Update: I had success by following #15 from
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/1181106.

What's new was modifying audio.conf with these lines:

[General]
Enable = Source,Sink,Headset,Gateway,Control,Media
Disable = Socket

HFP=false

[A2DP]
SBCSources=1
MPEG12Sources=0

And running:

pactl load-module module-switch-on-connect

Not entirely sure which part solved it. I note that disabling socket
contradicts my last post.

[Bug 1320157] [NEW] user space gnome-terminal overflows / file system

2014-05-16 Thread Sergei Vorobyov
Public bug reported:

I have two partitions on my system:

$ df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda3 23G 12G 11G 52% /
/dev/sda6 98G 67G 27G 72% /home

When I run a user application (on /home) which produces lots of
debugging output to the terminal, it quickly (less than a day) overflows
the root file system /. I think I figured the reason for that:

I selected the unlimited option for scrolling back in the gnome
terminal.

The question is this: why does it overflow the / rather than the /home
partition? May be unlimited should be understood as unlimited within
reasonable limits?

I earlier reported it as

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/e2fsprogs/+bug/1319667

(Of course I am not going to use this in a production application. It
popped up in a stress testing, where I modeled events which happen
usually once or twice a minute at accelerated speed, of thousands of
times per second)

1)
$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
Release:14.04

2)
# apt-cache policy gnome-terminal
gnome-terminal:
  Installed: 3.6.2-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 3.6.2-0ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 3.6.2-0ubuntu1 0
500 http://se.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

3) I expected it to chop off the terminal output when it grew
unreasonably big, or at least not to overflow the / partition, staying
in /home instead.

4) it overflew the / partition instead

[Bug 1311213] Re: Evolution 3.10.4 with EWS plugin: Calendar locks up application

2014-05-16 Thread Moritz Baumann
Val, you have to upgrade all packages related to evolution-data-server,
not just evolution-data-server itself. If you do so (either by
installing the packages from my PPA, which contains *exactly* the same
patch, or by manually installing all packages related to evolution-data-
server from -proposed), you'll notice that the problem is fixed.

I just verified that the packages in -proposed fix the problem just like
my own packages.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 131964] Re: search for files.. entry in gnome-menu should launch tracker-search-tool

2014-05-16 Thread Alberts Muktupāvels
** Description changed:

+ With up to date Gutsy, tracker is installed by default.
Yet the Search for Files.. entry on the places menu still launches
gnome-search-tool.

When you install Beagle, beagle-search takes over that menu-entry in the
places menu.
See also, the bug about that:

+    https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-panel/+bug/38986

This wishlist-bug was fixed, and I think, considering the choice to

  is duplicated for tracker.

[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.

2014-05-16 Thread William Hua
Hi Romano, thanks for testing the PPA. I took the workaround and filed
an SRU for it here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-
settings-daemon/+bug/1318673. For anyone who is affected by this bug
under GNOME Shell, please use that bug for SRU testing and verification.

I'm not sure about the bug you linked to, but I had the same experience
with the OSD not appearing also. But I have to assume that they go
through different code paths in GNOME Shell since modifier-only input
switching is a completely separate option in the settings, so maybe it's
intentional by design...

[Bug 1226962] Re: Hotkeys not functional in non-latin keyboard layout in 13.10 and 14.04

2014-05-16 Thread William Hua
Hi DEDan, I'm not sure why IBus affected it, or why removing IBus fixed
it in the first place. My intuition says that this is purely a problem
caused specifically by the takeover of keyboard layout duties by gnome-
settings-daemon. I tested this by moving the /usr/bin/ibus-daemon binary
and killing ibus-daemon to stop it, but non-latin keyboard shortcuts
were still not working for me in Inkscape. You can try to do this
yourself to see if it helps your UTM5 issues, but I can't imagine it
helping tbh...

[Bug 1311213] Re: Evolution 3.10.4 with EWS plugin: Calendar locks up application

2014-05-16 Thread Val Munoz
Guys, my apologies, but I don't seem to understand what exactly I need
to do to get this working. I added Moritz' PPA, ran apt-get update,
updated the evolution-data-server component, and was informed by apt-get
that it would be installing thefollowing:

  evolution-data-server-common evolution-data-server-online-accounts
  libcamel-1.2-45

and upgrading the following:
  evolution-data-server evolution-data-server-common
  evolution-data-server-online-accounts libcamel-1.2-45

I then ran a restore of my EWS account to Evolution, and the calendar is
still freezing.

Sorry to be such a pain, but can someone please explain exactly what I
need to do to get this patch applied properly?

Thank you,

[Bug 1215798] Re: losing windows on Ubuntu 13.10

2014-05-16 Thread Romano Giannetti
Christian Persch [gnome-terminal developer] said on 2014-05-16 17:49:52
UTC, in the upstream bug:

An essential component in your reproducer is restarting gnome-shell.
Gnome-terminal used to unrealise and re-realise all windows in this case; that
was removed from 3.8. So I think this is fixed in gnome-terminal = 3.8. If you
do upgrade in the future and can still reproduce this then, please do reopen
the bug; marking OBSOLETE for now.

Sounds reasonable. Could be Remmina doing something similar?

[Bug 1241101] Re: Java crash in libglib-2.0 after upgrade from 13.04 to 13.10

2014-05-16 Thread José Tomás Atria
I've been using the Raleigh override, and I have experienced no crashes.

I also tried David's suggestions, though the libgtk-3-0 version in the
Trusty repos seems to be the same as the one in the gnome3 ppa (Package
libgtk3 is already the newest version etc.). I compiled oxygen-gtk
locally, but the problem persists.

All of the above on 14.04.

[Bug 1318673] Re: Modifier-only input switching with non-latin keyboard layouts has no effect under GNOME Shell

2014-05-16 Thread Alexander Anisimov
Works for me too. Thanks.

But, I have Use keyboard LED to show alternative layout set to Scroll
Lock. After update when I switch to alternative layout led blink once
and off, although it should light steadily.

Should I open another bug or it can be fix in this one?

Thanks for testing Alexander, I think a separate bug would be best since
I don't think it's worth stopping this SRU, unless something even more

[Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates

2014-05-16 Thread Kiori
Tried what Mr Lee said, and indeed its works nows. But the problem
remains that crapware bluetooth-wizard is unable to pair the device,
after its paired, the above setup works 'out of the box'.

The only downside so far is that without it, i could toy with blueman and get
a2dp AND hsp or wahtever to be on -at the same time-. So i would have a mic on
the headphone going AND the sound keeping a a2dp superior quality output at the
same time.
Now with the given solution its either or, you cant have the esquizofrenia of
being both things at once.

I'm gonna toy with the config and see what happens.

On a side note though, canonical needs to make bluetooth-wizard 'an
offer it cannot refuse'. ;)

[Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates

2014-05-16 Thread Kiori
Tried a few edits, the bottom line is that if we want both on at the
same time, they both need to be loaded, which you can do with blueman,
and i have no idea how to do this without it.

I'm posting about this, because its ideal to have the best sound AND your
headphone's mic work at the same time right.

Its would-be basic situations like these that keep me quiet when people start
bashing canonical, they do give linux a bad name, in spite of all the great
stuff they've done, specially with unity.

[Bug 1320403] [NEW] update-mime-database thrashes hard disk

2014-05-16 Thread Adam Porter
Public bug reported:

After upgrading my machines to Trusty, I have noticed that when I
install packages, the disk thrashes very hard while the command update-
mime-database.real /usr/share/mime is running. Watching the disk
activity with atop, I see that the process is reading from the disk at a
rate of about 200 KB/sec, and writing at about half that rate. I can
hear the disk head jumping back and forth as fast as possible.

This didn't happen in the past. Something has changed, and it's not
good.

[Bug 1262068] Re: nvidia-prime should support gdm also

2014-05-16 Thread Rob
Hello,

Is there more to this fix than the latest version of nvidia-prime plus
the gpu-manager.conf addition? I've tried using nvidia-prime 0.6.2
plush the gpu-manager.conf changes but no luck. I'm also seeing
different behavior than when I've tried nvidia-prime and prime-indicator
on Ubuntu 12.04 in that a call to prime select nvidia does not cause a
prime generated xorg.conf file to be written to /etc/X11/. Perhaps this
is an unrelated issue though.

When trying to debug my problem I also ran into another prime or prime-
indicator lightdm config file that was specific to lightdm, though I
can't find it now. I just remember a light that had start or
upstart in it along with lightdm but there was no gdm anywhere in
the file.

Thanks
