[Bug 1322026] [NEW] font-scaling factor is not aplied early enough

2014-05-22 Thread rubo77
Public bug reported:

There are many ways to set the text-scale-factor, for example dconf-
editor, I used unity-tweak-util, but in the end they seem to set these
values in the global configuration:

org.gnome.desktop.interface text-scaling-factor
com.canonical.Unity.Interface text-scale-factor

This solves it (for most programms) and everything is in a readeable
size.

Now the Problem:

When I boot my PC this setting seems to take its effect later than the
desktop is booted, cause when I instantly open nautilus when the desktop
is up, I still have it all in a tiny font. If I wait some 10 seconds
more and start nautilus then, I have it scaled the right way.

I checked right after boot-time, I opened a console and watched the
output of `gsettings list-recursively|grep text-scal` - the setting is
already on 2.0, but everything is still tiny.

[Bug 1287341] Re: Touchscreen controls both screens in dual-monitor setup

2014-05-22 Thread Alberto Milone
I already have a prototype that solves the use case mentioned in this
bug report.

Apparently upstream also has code that fixes the same issue and covers
more use cases. It doesn't seem like a small amount of code though. For
this reason I'll take some time to see if a backport is possible or
recommended over using my current implementation.

Brother_MFC-J6510DW is a strange printer! paper feed an ADF is rotated by 90°

print 2 pages per sheet from a pdf-file printed with okular (kde pdf-

I'm experiencing this bug too. When printing two pages per sheet, the
output is misoriented, such that the two pages are [partially] printed
in landscape where the sheet has portrait orientation. That is, the
text is restricted (and truncated) to a band across the middle of the
sheet.

The printing engine is not rotating the text appropriately in order to
fit two pages on one sheet.

The printing error happens exactly the same regardless of the setting of
Paper Orientation in the printer Properties, whether portrait or
landscape is used there.

[Bug 1246272] Re: Keyboard layout changing randomly

2014-05-22 Thread Romano Giannetti
I want to underline that my comment was not *at all* a critic to
developers. There is something pesky going on with keyboards, and
difficult to spot (although I suspect some kind of bad interaction
between {unity,gnome}-control-settings and ibus). The monster bug
#1218322 would have been fixed otherwise, it's one of the hottest bug of
all launchpad. Simply I think that marking this bug low is understating
its importance --- Ubuntu should work all over the planet.

As a data point, I switched my laptop which sports a Spanish keyboard to
Xubuntu (not for this bug, just a matter of usability and too few RAM),
disable system keyboard configuration, no IBUS, and never had a problem
with the keyboard. Which points to the direction above... from a layman
point-of-view.

Using Ubuntu 14.04 64bits as well here. Got the pre-release updates as
well (especially tried for this one), and still have this problem.

Hope this gets fixed.

[Bug 1226962] Re: Hotkeys not functional in non-latin keyboard layout in 13.10 and 14.04

2014-05-22 Thread William Hua
Hi Artur, I just tried PhpStorm with the PPA installed and it seems to
work for me (tested ru and gr). What keyboard shortcuts are you trying?
Also, can you try to restart unity-settings-daemon after installing
the PPA to see if that helps?

[Bug 1310583] Re: System monitor not showing network traffic

2014-05-22 Thread SFeek
Same here, running Ubuntu 14.04 64bit edition and System Monitor Network
History is always zero even if large amounts of network traffic are flowing.
This is a fresh upgrade from 12.04. It was broken in 12.04 as well and I had
hoped that upgrading would fix the issue. It did not!

I also just noticed that ifconfig also shows zero RX or TX packets on

issue? The machine is running fine otherwise.

 Bug description:
New keyboard layout changer in Ubuntu 13.10 introduce old-new bug. Any
system or application hotkey witch use char (for example: ctrl+alt+t for
terminal or ctrl+t for new tab in browser) become unfunctional when
 selected non-latin keyboard layout.
Hotkeys with F1-12, numbers and other non-character buttons works
 perfectly.

Window manager hotkeys not affected by this bug. All hotkeys in system
parameters-keyboard-hotkeys-windows works perfect with any keyboard
   layout.

Workaround for some system hotkeys and two layouts (english and non-
latin): rebind all hotkeys in your local layout. For example instead
of ctrl+alt+t use ctrl+alt+τ (greek tau). That hotkey still work with
english layout. If you use english and two different non-latin
layouts this workaround helps only with one of them.

   Dear Ubuntu users and developers!
Please include the following information to your comment about non-latin
 shortcuts problems:
   1. What Ubuntu version do you have (Ubuntu 13.10, Ubuntu 13.10 GNOME,
Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 14.04 GNOME and so on), upgraded (describe version) or
 clean installed
   2. What keyboard layout do you have
   3. What shortcut for keyboard layout switching do you use
   4. On which session you have problems - that is one from Unity, GNOME
Shell, GNOME FlashBack/Fallback (Metacity), GNOME FlashBack/Fallback
 (Compiz)
   5. With which program and its version and origin (Ubuntu repositories,
PPA, non-deb binary package from some website) you have problems.

By providing this information you can make bug-fixing much simpler and
   may be faster.

For other layout switching problems introduced in Ubuntu 13.10 you can
