[Bug 1243484] Re: Incorrect handling of orientation when printing PDF files

2014-06-02 Thread Sebastien Bacher
  Can you backport it to saucy? (currently on 0.24.1-0ubuntu1)

If somebody wants to work on that I can look at doing the sponsoring. I
don't think the desktop team is going to work on it though, saucy is
neither the current stable nor the LTS and the issue is not a security
one, we would recommend updating to trusty.

2014-06-02 Thread Rüdiger Kupper
This bug does also prevent starting the gnome fallback session on LTSP thin
clients. The only way I got it to start is by forcing DRI False in xorg.conf.
X will then not even try to use acceleration.
I will now try Eugenes PPA.

2014-06-02 Thread Ryan Tandy
Hi Eugene,

Can you please attach a debdiff of your proposed changes here, suitable
for upload to utopic? If you mark it as a patch, a bot will subscribe
the sponsors team and it will show up on their board for review.
http://reqorts.qa.ubuntu.com/reports/sponsoring/ The queue is fairly
long right now, but someone will review it eventually.

Status Fix Committed is appropriate once a fixed package is uploaded
to utopic-proposed.

After the fix goes into Utopic (promoted from -proposed), we can follow
the SRU process and get it backported to Trusty.

Thanks for working on this! I'm also interested in having gnome-
flashback working over NX.

For me, the screen blanks, then the monitor goes into low-power mode

pinpointed exactly when), the monitor comes out of powersave mode, and

[Bug 1325650] [NEW] CTRL+F turns search off

2014-06-02 Thread Pierre-Antoine Champin
Public bug reported:

$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
Release:14.04
$ apt-cache policy evince
evince:
  Installed: 3.10.3-0ubuntu10
  Candidate: 3.10.3-0ubuntu10
  Version table:
 *** 3.10.3-0ubuntu10 0
500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

My problem is that CTRL+F acts as a switch for search mode: it turns it
on (when it is off) and off (when it is already on). While this could
make sense, I find it quite counter intuitive:

* I'm reading a PDF
* I want to search foo: I type CTRL+F and foo, it works
* I find the occurence of foo I'm interested in
* I continue reading, *without leaving the search mode*
* at some point, I want to search for bar, so
* I type CTRL+F and bar... but CTRL+F just turns off the search mode, and
bar is ignored

This is quite frustrating. As the search mode can be left with ESC, I
suggest to change the behaviour of CTRL+F to setting the focus to the
search box, so that CTRL+F *always* results in searching

[Bug 1251281] Re: gnome-flashback (metacity) fails to start without hardware acceleration, cloud/remote environments (Forwarded-X/XRDP/VNC/NX/X2GO/Chromoting)

2014-06-02 Thread Eugene San
Hi @Ryan,

Thanks for advice.
Unfortunately, fixing only gnome-session won't fix gnome-flashback.

Actually I've already fixed it in my PPA (ppa:eugenesan/ppa).
Among the changes are:
1. Migration from metacity to xfwm4.
2. Backporting and tweaking of: gnome-desktop3, gnome-panel, gnome-session,
indicator-appmenu, ubuntu-themes.
3. Introduction of optional but highly recommended: gnome-wndow-applets,
cardapio and gnome-flashback-desktop.

debdiffs and new packages are available in my PPA.
However, due to the nature and the amount of changes, we need maintainers of
Ubuntu-UX and/or gnome-flashback(panel) to step in.

In mean time, anyone interested in unity-2d like environment for
light/virtualized/NX/X/VNC desktop environments, can add my PPA and
install gnome-flashback-desktop.

[Bug 424888] Re: Brasero produces .toc files containing absolute paths when

2014-06-02 Thread Rob de Graaf
Brasero 3.10.0 in 14.04 LTS still produces cue and toc files with
absolute paths in them. It is easy enough to work around by editing the
cue/toc file, but as a default it's counterintuitive. It would be better
to leave the path out when writing the cue/toc file and use only the
image file name. That way, the files may be moved anywhere (as you often
would with disk images), and they could still be opened and burned, as
long as they are kept together. I don't see any value in keeping the
path in there.

2014-06-02 Thread Kevin Dalley
fubuntu has the solution. I modified the file
/etc/fonts/conf.avail/30-metric-aliases.conf
and fi ligatures suddenly appear.

For some reason, I had trouble building the package fontconfig-config,
but it looks like the problem belongs with that package.

[Bug 1310322] Re: Nautilus unmaximised directory windows have a 50 pixel barrier from top panel

2014-06-02 Thread Jo Radcliffe
** Description changed:

  Open a GUI directory and there is a small strip of about 50 pixels below
  the top panel that unmaximized windows cannot occupy. This is for Gnome
  Ubuntu 14.04 x86 64bit.

  ETA : Installing the Bottom Panel extension which moves the top panel to
- the bottom, removes the problem.
+ the bottom, initially removed the problem but it soon returned.

[Bug 1325767] [NEW] Can't unset titlebar

2014-06-02 Thread Robert Ancell
Public bug reported:

[Impact]
In GTK+ unsetting a titlebar [1] does not work. This was fixed in upstream GTK+
[2]. Since Ubuntu does not work well with GtkHeaderBar it is desirable for
applications to be able to conditionally unset their titlebar to work well in
Ubuntu.

[Test Case]
1. Write an application that uses a Gtk.HeaderBar and unsets it [3]
2. Run application
Expected result:
Window is shown with window decorations
Observed result:
Window is shown without window decorations

[Regression Potential]
Potential for breaking existing cases where the titlebar is reset. This seems
low probability given the simplicity of the patch.

https://git.gnome.org/browse/gtk+/commit/?h=gtk-3-12id=8db2ba425aaff107faaa4c7468be63f8ef2fa8e9

int main (string[] args)
{
   Gtk.init (ref args);

   var w = new Gtk.Window ();
   var hb = new Gtk.HeaderBar ();
   hb.visible = true;
   w.set_titlebar (hb);
   w.set_titlebar (null); /* Doesn't restore decorations on GTK 3.10 */

   var l = new Gtk.Label (Hello world!);
   l.visible = true;
   w.add (l);

   w.visible = true;

   Gtk.main ();

[Bug 1226962] Re: Hotkeys not functional in non-latin keyboard layout in 13.10 and 14.04

2014-06-02 Thread Nazar Mokrynskyi
As I see here - bug is going to be fixed for every separate application which
is completely wrong approach.
THIS IS THE MOST CRITICAL BUG since 13.10, and should be fixed for all apps in
one place.
Users do not care how it works internally, we only know that regular Ctrl+C do
not work with any non-latin layout.

[Bug 1325775] [NEW] Make it possible to copy command line and other information from process treetable and properties dialog

2014-06-02 Thread Karl-Philipp Richter
Public bug reported:

The information provided in columns of the process tree table can no be
copied (which would especially interesting for the process command line,
but also for PID) as well as the information in the properties dialog of
a process. This has no reason and it shouldn't be confusing to add a
copy button (for the UI it would be nicer to have a cell based
highlighting, but for instance copying the cell value based on the
context menu position should be sufficient).

[Bug 1061195] Re: Can't create EWS or MAPI account

2014-06-02 Thread dinanj
can confirm in

evolution  3.12.2-1
kernel 3.13.11.1-1

after creation of account does not populate in any menu any data.
close or reboot, upon re-opening of evolution there is the new account wizard,
to which this process repeats.

however, in the configuration files evolution mail state.ini there
are lines that point to this account actually being there

[Store 1401282120.12535.6@myemail]
Expanded=true

[Folder folder://1401282120.12535.6%40myemail/INBOX]
GroupByThreads=false
PreviewVisible=true
Expanded=false

among other files in the sources directory there are loads of .source files
they are of course my every attempt.
each new creation of an account overwrite's the state.ini to match it's source
information

at least this is about all I have figured out, im not a programmer so I
may be barking up the wrong tree.

[Bug 1226962] Re: Hotkeys not functional in non-latin keyboard layout in 13.10 and 14.04

2014-06-02 Thread Nazar Mokrynskyi
Awesome news! I found fix for this.
1) Disable of gnome control over keyboard:
gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.keyboard active false
2) Set desired settings for xkb:
setxkbmap -option grp:rctrl_toggle,lv3:menu_switch us,ru,ua
You can add this to autostart
Here I switch layout with Right Control, Menu key is used for third level of
keys and I use three layouts: English, Russian and Ukrainian.

One notice: keyboard indicator on panel lives in parallel reality in
such setup, so I'm using gXneur to indicate current layout (only this,
and disabled input monitoring, looks like gXneur is broken in Ubuntu
13.10-14.04 with GNOME and Unity) and disabled original one in keyboard
settings.

As the result - I have all possible shortcuts working on any layout,
switching layout with one key - right ctrl (not possible otherwise in
GNOME) and separate layouts per windows and keyboard indicator with
gXneur.

Yes, such ugly but perfectly working hacks because of smart decisions
of GNOME developers.
