[Bug 1332426] [NEW] OTF and WOFF formats not associated with gnome-font-viewer

2014-06-20 Thread Gioele Barabucci
Public bug reported:

In a default Ubuntu 14.04 installation, OTF and WOFF files are not
associated with gnome-font-viewer, even thou gnome-font-viewers is
perfectly capable of showing these files.

By default...
* OTF files are shown with a generic document icon and are associated with
LibreOffice Math (why?);
* WOFF files are shown with a font icon but are associated with no programs.

Originally reported at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/1087712

The fill pattern is created with Inkscape and then exported as PDF
(source file, and PDF, EPS and PNG export appended).

Observed behavior:

Acrobat Reader and Okular render the fill pattern correctly from the
PDF. In Evince and in the Nautilus preview, the fill pattern does not
appear in the PDF. The fill pattern is rendered correctly from an EPS
(Screenshots attached).

Expected behavior:

The file and preview look the same in all viewers. In particular, the
pattern is displayed correctly in Evince and Nautilus.

[Bug 1242678] Re: evince cannot render some EPS files

2014-06-20 Thread epii
Thanks Till, Sebastien and other contributors!

I enabled proposed repository and tested the new libspectre build.

The documents are shown now, but the rotation is incorrect (upside down).
So I marked as verification-failed.

I examined your debdiff file and I realized that the following fact causes a
new issue.
Ghostscript consideres +90deg rotation as rotate 90deg CLOCKWISE
but PostScript considers +90deg rotation as rotate 90 deg COUNTER-CLOCKWISE.
So you should change the sign when you pass a rotation angle as a PostScript
command.

I will attach a new patch file fixing this issue.
Can you review my patch?

[Bug 1242678] Re: evince cannot render some EPS files

2014-06-20 Thread Sebastien Bacher
@epil: thanks, but that's not an issue with this change, evince needs to
be fixed, see the upstream bug or
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=731786 for details.

I'm marking it back as verification-done, the fix is correct for the
library and having documents opening with an incorrect rotation is
better than having them not loading.

We are going to upload a fixed evince as well, once upstream is happy
with the change

[Bug 1242678] Re: evince cannot render some EPS files

2014-06-20 Thread Till Kamppeter
Here we need to agree with libspectre and evince upstream. The
libspectre patch proposed for the SRU is from this upstream bug

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76450

but they also tell that an additional fix on evince is needed, supplied
as a patch on this bug

https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=731786

To follow this, we should post a second SRU for evince (and let this go
to -updates).

[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.

2014-06-20 Thread Full name
The bug was already fixed in 12.04, now the same problems resurface
again. I'm holding back several computers from upgrading to 14.04 and
looking for an alternate distribution because of this, amongst other
issues.

nautilus is using the shared-mime-info database

they use

magic priority=50

it means they expect fonts to start with OTTO, that doesn't seem the
case of that one...

[Bug 1332183] Re: Installing gnome-session-flashback in Ubuntu GNOME Trusty provides a Flashback (Compiz) session when compiz is not installed

2014-06-20 Thread Erick Brunzell
Hi Alberts, with Utopic Alpha 1 (flavors) iso-testing approaching next
week I should be able to thoroughly test this within the next week.
Assuming there are no problems encountered in Utopic I'd like to get
this fixed in Trusty before 14.04.1 drops in just over one month.

Do you want me to try and complete the SRU request? I've never done it
before but there's a first time for everything. Do you see any
regression potential for Trusty?

[Bug 1332490] Re: nautilus didn't start after start/stop of vpn-connection

2014-06-20 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the
crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with
'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is
the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed
to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug
/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

That bug happens only to few users, it has not even been confirmed to
apply to the default desktop environement. The bug settings are also not
that important, having it flagged low doesn't mean it's not going to
be worked on or resolved, it's just not a security issue or a data lost
issue, mostly an usability one

Thank you for the explanation. I understand this is not a critical bug,
but your comment about the default desktop environment concerns me. Does
this mean that the support for other desktop environments is not held in
as high regard as that for unity? Also concerning is your statement
about affect few users, this bug is marked as affecting 58 users, the
most important bug in the tracker (rated by importance,
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-

much less than 77.

2014-06-20 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Does this mean that the support for other desktop environments is not

Well, Unity is the default desktop/what most users are running, so yes we look
in priority to bugs that affect it.
Canonical is also paying people to work on Unity where GNOME is community
maintained (though we help fixing issues when we can)

The user numbers are only one metric, those numbers are low, the
importance of the other bug is High due to the fact that it's a segfault
an not only an usability issue...

[Bug 1270957] Re: 13.10: screen does not turn off after x minutes of inactivity

2014-06-20 Thread Ernesto Silva
Hi guys, I've installed 14.04 and I have a similar problem. The screensaver
delay is fixed in 300 seconds (5 minutes).
I'm doing a sort or desktop lock-down and I've fixed various properties using
dconf and it's locks, but I had no luck with the screensaver delay.

The key is: /org/gnome/desktop/session/idle-delay and I can change the value
and lock it, from the gui and from a profile in /etc/dcon/...
In any case the session becomes idle in 300 seconds, , it seems to me that the
screen saver uses the default value defined in the file:

/usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/org.gnome.desktop.session.gschema.xml

The parameter definition is:

key type=u name=idle-delay
  default300/default
summaryTime before session is considered idle/summary
descriptionThe number of seconds of inactivity before the session is
considered idle./description
/key

As I understand, when the session become idle the screensaver starts, so
actually the delay is not a screensaver's property, it is a property of
the session.

Any ideas if this is correct? maybe it is a bug or am I watching the
wrong parameter?

[Bug 1292398] Re: multi-monitor : second screen position isn't saved from one session to another

2014-06-20 Thread gord-s
Sebastian said:
The user numbers are only one metric, those numbers are low, the importance of
the other bug is High due to the fact that..

Then in that case, may I suggest a change of policy somewhere? I've just been
informed that this weekend our entire corporate entity will move to Mint (MATE)
from Ubuntu Gnome, due to this bug. The kicker is that they now won't be going
for Landmark next quarter, which is annoying. That's over 3,100 desktops lost
to a competitor (it's business, so competitor is the appropriate word in this
case), according to the feeling I'm hearing they may jump ship on servers soon
too, which is more my department, so I'm extremely disappointed.

The bug simply doesn't happen on Mint and time is money, simple as that, it's
not my decision, it was board-level no less.
Every decision on bug triage as well as release policies have consequences, I
shouldn't have to mention how much the adoption and force-feeding of Unity has
tainted the reputation of Ubuntu in many corporate eyes that were used to
Gnome2 or legacy CDE-lookalikes. 58 affected - yeah right.

Moving forward: we use local mirrors to do all install and updates, we
also have very strict firewalling and all traffic at every site goes
though a application gateway to sanitise traffic - could that be a
reason why those numbers are low? If so, what should be allowed
(popcon?, not using local mirrors? something else?) to allow Canonical
HQ to see the true user numbers of non-Unity DEs?

[Bug 1332578] [NEW] When clicking the Files icon in the Unity launcher, instead of switching to the already opened nautilus window, a new nautilus window is opened

2014-06-20 Thread Anish Dowlut
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu version: 14.04 LTS
Nautilus version: 1:3.10.1-0ubuntu9.1
Unity version: 7.2.1+14.04.20140513-0ubuntu2

Sometimes, when you already have a nautilus window opened and you switch
to another application, if you the click Files icon in the Unity
launcher to switch back to that nautilus window, a new nautilus window
is opened instead simply showing the nautilus window that was already
opened.

Steps to reproduce problem:
0. Close all nautilus windows.
1. Click on the Files icon in the Unity launcher to open a new nautilus
window.
2. On the left pane of nautilus, under the Devices section, open a partition or
hard drive of your computer which is not the root partition of your Ubuntu
installation.
3. Switch to any other application (such as the Caculator or a Terminal window)
using the Unity launcher.
4. Click on the Files icon in the Unity launcher to switch back to the
nautilus window that you had opened.

Expected behaviour: The nautilus window opened in step 1 is focused.
Actual behaviour: A new nautilus window is opened.

The problem can be reproduced by the following steps as well:
0. Make sure no nautilus window is opened.
1. Click on the Trash icon in the Unity launcher.
2. Click on the Files icon in the Unity laucher.

Expected behaviour: The nautilus window which opened when the Trash icon was
clicked is focused.
Actual behaviour: A new nautilus window is opened.

The reason I believe that the bug lies within nautilus is because I
tried the first set of steps with the Thunar file browser and the
problem did not occur. However, it could be a bug within the Unity
launcher as well.

[Bug 1292398] Re: multi-monitor : second screen position isn't saved from one session to another

2014-06-20 Thread Sebastien Bacher
@gord:

What your company is doing is their decision, not a lot we can do.
Changing OS over a bug doesn't seems like a rationnal decision, your
company could have looked at this issue, and contributed a fix for
likely a lot less of efforts than it's going to take them to change
systems on a thousand mahcines.

It might be that Mint is going to have the same bug next time they
update/rebase on Ubuntu (they are based on it after all), in which case
you handle a transition for an OS which is having a less strong security
and support story, good luck with that.

Not sure about the numbers, we don't track users/installations nor
collect datas. It's just that Canonical supports Unity as its main
product, tyou liking the desktop or not is not changing that fact. I'm
sure you could find somebody selling support for GNOME remix though...

[Bug 721217] Re: Hardcoded Evince cache size limit restricts maximum zoom to 70% on large (area) documents

2014-06-20 Thread LAZA
Workaround:

Test your settings in Evince:

$ gsettings get org.gnome.Evince page-cache-size

Set a new (bigger) value instead:

$ gsettings set org.gnome.Evince page-cache-size 100

I tried it with 256 as value and can zoom my documents till 200%.

.

Will this bug ever fixed in Precise and Trusty?
It speaks for itself that this bug is in two LTS releases...

[Bug 1313430] Re: Crashes on Ubuntu 14.04 when trying to connect to iPod

2014-06-20 Thread Matt Plavcan
I'm also observing Banshee crashing when either the iPod is plugged in, or if
launch when iPod is already docked.
   Ubuntu 14.04 64-bit
   iPod Touch 2nd Gen 32GB, iOS4.1

Prior to upgrade (13.10 64-bit):
Banshee crashed if iPod was already docked when it was launched; it did not
crash when iPod plugged in after launch.

Suspect this might be a libgtkpod issue.

suggests that's more likely to be the usual culprit of All UI designers

[Bug 1332648] [NEW] Wrong bluetooth pairing PIN reported for Logitech K810

2014-06-20 Thread Knut Remi Løvli
Public bug reported:

I've been unable to pair my Logitech K810. I figured out that the new
device setup wizard reports the wrong PIN. I used bluez-hcidump before
trying to pair from the setup wizard. The setup wizard PIN differs from
the one reported by bluez-hcidump. The PIN reported by bluez-hcidump was
correct.

Here's the command I used:

2) Package version:

same errors in valgrind of evince processing pdf files that don't

[Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates

2014-06-20 Thread Sebastian F
With the Blueman package from Davids PPA, I'm able to connect with my bluetooth
speakers again. I only have to choose them manually as default output.
On a sidenote: The Blueman deb should depend on pulseaudio-module-bluetooth. I
removed it previously (or it isn't even installed as default on Xubuntu, I'll
have to check that). So people testing this package: make sure you have
pulseaudio-module-bluetooth installed, if it doesn't work.

[Bug 1332721] [NEW] Add patch to allow toolbar dragging

2014-06-20 Thread Adam Smith
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu already has a patch - 062_dnd_menubar.patch - that allows the
window to be dragged by clicking on empty space in the menubar.

The attached patch builds on this and allows empty space in the toolbar
to be also dragged. It is essentially commit
7491e9e97aa6b0f9950897c4f1282b470c79d451 that went into gtk+3.0 way back
in 2010.

This would make GTK2 themes behave much more like GTK3 themes.

** Affects: gtk+2.0 (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Tags: patch

** Patch added: Allow toolbars to be dragged too!

[Bug 1332731] [NEW] Nautilus' Email... context menu is confusing.

2014-06-20 Thread Rey Leonard Amorato
Public bug reported:

I have been using Ubuntu for quite sometime and I've always seen the
context menu Send to... where a dialog pops up showing all the places
I could send my file to. But, after upgrading to 14.04, I noticed that
the context menu had changed and it now has Email... in its place.

I don't use that menu much but it is annoying and confusing. If I were
to send a file to a contact from empathy, I wouldn't be emailing it, I
would just be sending it.

[Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates

2014-06-20 Thread nachokb
I suffer the same symptoms. Used it in 14.04 (Ubuntu GNOME over here)
and stopped working (though I did change lots of PPAs). Device is
detected, paired correctly but it won't show up in Preferences Sound.

Running 'paclt list cards short' (per #14) does not list this (only the
built-in card), while in Preferences Bluetooth device shows up as
paired (and device responds accordingly). Weirdly, sometimes the toggle
Bluetooth in Preferences Bluetooth shows up as disabled, while the
device acts like it is indeed paired (so it is enabled actually).

I've also found this on /var/log/syslog:

 Jun 20 20:10:51 valinor bluetoothd[20013]: Adapter /org/bluez/20013/hci0 has
 been enabled

These last two lines look suspect, perhaps they're useful somehow.
