Observed behavior: Acrobat Reader and Okular render the fill pattern correctly from the PDF. In Evince and in the Nautilus preview, the fill pattern does not appear in the PDF. The fill pattern is rendered correctly from an EPS (Screenshots attached). Expected behavior: The file and preview look the same in all viewers. [Bug 1242678] Re: evince cannot render some EPS files
Thanks Till, Sebastien and other contributors! I enabled proposed repository and tested the new libspectre build. The documents are shown now, but the rotation is incorrect (upside down). So I marked as verification-failed. I examined your debdiff file and I realized that the following fact causes a new issue. Ghostscript consideres +90deg rotation as rotate 90deg CLOCKWISE but PostScript considers +90deg rotation as rotate 90 deg COUNTER-CLOCKWISE. So you should change the sign when you pass a rotation angle as a PostScript command. I will attach a new patch file fixing this issue. [Bug 1242678] Re: evince cannot render some EPS files
@epil: thanks, but that's not an issue with this change, evince needs to be fixed, see the upstream bug or https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=731786 for details. I'm marking it back as verification-done, the fix is correct for the library and having documents opening with an incorrect rotation is better than having them not loading. [Bug 1332490] Re: nautilus didn't start after start/stop of vpn-connection
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. [Bug 1270957] Re: 13.10: screen does not turn off after x minutes of inactivity
Hi guys, I've installed 14.04 and I have a similar problem. The screensaver delay is fixed in 300 seconds (5 minutes). I'm doing a sort or desktop lock-down and I've fixed various properties using dconf and it's locks, but I had no luck with the screensaver delay. The key is: /org/gnome/desktop/session/idle-delay and I can change the value and lock it, from the gui and from a profile in /etc/dcon/... In any case the session becomes idle in 300 seconds, , it seems to me that the screen saver uses the default value defined in the file: /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/org.gnome.desktop.session.gschema.xml The parameter definition is: key type=u name=idle-delay default300/default summaryTime before session is considered idle/summary descriptionThe number of seconds of inactivity before the session is considered idle./description /key As I understand, when the session become idle the screensaver starts, so actually the delay is not a screensaver's property, it is a property of the session. [Bug 1292398] Re: multi-monitor : second screen position isn't saved from one session to another
Sebastian said: The user numbers are only one metric, those numbers are low, the importance of the other bug is High due to the fact that.. Then in that case, may I suggest a change of policy somewhere? I've just been informed that this weekend our entire corporate entity will move to Mint (MATE) from Ubuntu Gnome, due to this bug. The kicker is that they now won't be going for Landmark next quarter, which is annoying. That's over 3,100 desktops lost to a competitor (it's business, so competitor is the appropriate word in this case), according to the feeling I'm hearing they may jump ship on servers soon too, which is more my department, so I'm extremely disappointed. The bug simply doesn't happen on Mint and time is money, simple as that, it's not my decision, it was board-level no less. Every decision on bug triage as well as release policies have consequences, I shouldn't have to mention how much the adoption and force-feeding of Unity has tainted the reputation of Ubuntu in many corporate eyes that were used to Gnome2 or legacy CDE-lookalikes. 58 affected - yeah right. Moving forward: we use local mirrors to do all install and updates, we also have very strict firewalling and all traffic at every site goes though a application gateway to sanitise traffic - could that be a reason why those numbers are low? If so, what should be allowed (popcon?, not using local mirrors? something else?) to allow Canonical HQ to see the true user numbers of non-Unity DEs? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1292398 Title: multi-monitor : second screen position isn't saved from one session to another To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1292398/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1332578] [NEW] When clicking the Files icon in the Unity launcher, instead of switching to the already opened nautilus window, a new nautilus window is opened
Public bug reported: Ubuntu version: 14.04 LTS Nautilus version: 1:3.10.1-0ubuntu9.1 Unity version: 7.2.1+14.04.20140513-0ubuntu2 Sometimes, when you already have a nautilus window opened and you switch to another application, if you the click Files icon in the Unity launcher to switch back to that nautilus window, a new nautilus window is opened instead simply showing the nautilus window that was already opened. Steps to reproduce problem: 0. Close all nautilus windows. 1. Click on the Files icon in the Unity launcher to open a new nautilus window. 2. On the left pane of nautilus, under the Devices section, open a partition or hard drive of your computer which is not the root partition of your Ubuntu installation. 3. Switch to any other application (such as the Caculator or a Terminal window) using the Unity launcher. 4. Click on the Files icon in the Unity launcher to switch back to the nautilus window that you had opened. Expected behaviour: The nautilus window opened in step 1 is focused. Actual behaviour: A new nautilus window is opened. The problem can be reproduced by the following steps as well: 0. Make sure no nautilus window is opened. 1. Click on the Trash icon in the Unity launcher. 2. Click on the Files icon in the Unity laucher. Expected behaviour: The nautilus window which opened when the Trash icon was clicked is focused. Actual behaviour: A new nautilus window is opened. The reason I believe that the bug lies within nautilus is because I tried the first set of steps with the Thunar file browser and the problem did not occur. @gord: What your company is doing is their decision, not a lot we can do. Changing OS over a bug doesn't seems like a rationnal decision, your company could have looked at this issue, and contributed a fix for likely a lot less of efforts than it's going to take them to change systems on a thousand mahcines. It might be that Mint is going to have the same bug next time they update/rebase on Ubuntu (they are based on it after all), in which case you handle a transition for an OS which is having a less strong security and support story, good luck with that. Not sure about the numbers, we don't track users/installations nor collect datas. [Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates
I suffer the same symptoms. Used it in 14.04 (Ubuntu GNOME over here) and stopped working (though I did change lots of PPAs). Device is detected, paired correctly but it won't show up in Preferences Sound. Running 'paclt list cards short' (per #14) does not list this (only the built-in card), while in Preferences Bluetooth device shows up as paired (and device responds accordingly). Weirdly, sometimes the toggle Bluetooth in Preferences Bluetooth shows up as disabled, while the device acts like it is indeed paired (so it is enabled actually).
