[Bug 1292398] Re: multi-monitor : second screen position isn't saved from one session to another
The issue is a gnome-shell one (see e.g comment #10), gnome-control- center/settings-daemon work correctly, it's gnome-shell that reconfigure the monitors when it starts, reassigning to that component ** Package changed: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) = gnome-shell (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1292398 Title: multi-monitor : second screen position isn't saved from one session to another To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1292398/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1283615] Re: xrandr layouts shouldn't be changed on nvidia-tool custom config
g-s-d/u-s-d shouldn't be running in xubuntu either no? Renaming that bug, it's a feature request for the settings code to detect nvidia custom configs and bail out of doing its work in those case. [Bug 1283615] Re: xrandr layouts shouldn't be changed on nvidia-tool custom config
No, that's not correct at all. g-s-d/u-s-d do not run in Xubuntu, however, they do run in the greeter if the greeter is unity-greeter. They exit before Xubuntu desktop starts up, but at that point they have already ruined the monitor configuration. Since they do not run in Xubuntu, there is no way to configure them. I can use randr to set up my displays, but it won't be saved to g-s-d because g-s-d is not running. This is true regardless of what graphics card I use. This is not a feature request to detect custom nvidia configs, it is a feature request to not stomp all over the standard interface for configuring Xorg, which is Xorg.conf. Setting the bug name back to the original for this reason. ** Summary changed: - xrandr layouts shouldn't be changed on nvidia-tool custom config + gnome-settings-daemon trashes monitor config -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1283615 Title: gnome-settings-daemon trashes monitor config To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/1283615/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1283615] Re: gnome-settings-daemon trashes monitor config
Also, if you do for some reason run g-s-d in Xubuntu desktop, it will reset your monitor configuration to defaults. This bug appears to run deeper than just Xubuntu and nvidia, see for example: http://bernaerts.dyndns.org/linux/74-ubuntu/309-ubuntu-dual- display-monitor-position-lost The solution is simple: if g-s-d cannot find a monitors.xml it should leave the display configuration alone. There is no reason to care about any other configuation mechanism the user might or might not be using. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1283615 Title: gnome-settings-daemon trashes monitor config To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/1283615/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1330037] Re: upower 0.99 transition
** Description changed: upower 0.99 needs uploading for gnome 3.12. This bug tracks the transition. A transition is required as some features were removed and the SONAME was changed Some packages are staged in https://launchpad.net/~noskcaj/+archive/upower/+packages wmbattery will probably need removing. If a package only needs a rebuild, mark it fix commited, if something else is needed, in progress. cairo-dock-plug-ins: needs rebuilding #gnome-shell - ready, just need to drop upower revert. gnome-control-center: WIP gnome-packagekit: Fixed in newest upstream release, needs packaging gnome-power-manager: Fixed in newest upstream release. Merge from debian experimental gnome-session: Done in ppa, needs patches from git or new upstream release gnome-settings-daemon: 3.12 is ready out of the box, however that also requires gnome-desktop transition. 3.8 and also u-s-d: I have a package that is mostly working, however had to cherry-pick quite a few patches and may just be better to backport 3.12 power plugin. (considering g-s-d patches will be temporary, but u-s-d not so) - kde: suspend issues + kde: suspend issues, device notifier broken mate: all mate packages need rebuilding python-dbusmock: lp:1324791 sugar: no idea. telepathy-mission-control-5: Debian has dropped upower support, needs merging wmbattery: needs removal. orphaned upstream/debian and doesn't work with new kernals xfce4-power-manager: Fixed in new upstream release. Needs merging from debian experimental xfce4-session: patch is upstream, needs work to apply with our current patchset xfce4-settings: Patch from upstream in ppa xfce4-systemload-plugin: needs rebuild -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1330037 Title: upower 0.99 transition To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cairo-dock-plug-ins/+bug/1330037/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
