This bug is still present in (X)Ubuntu 14.04. Happens to me when
accessing my synology nas using Thunar. Doesn't seem to happen when
accessing my samba 3 fileserver on a x86 server though.

[Bug 1311443] Re: switching input method is not reliable

gnome-settings-daemon ver. 3.8.6.1-0ubuntu11.2 from trusty-proposed fixes
several keyboard layouts switching problems in GNOME Shell, please upload this
version to trusty-updates ASAP.
Only one issue left in Trusty GNOME Shell - sometimes keyboard layout indicator
stops work when keyboard layouts (input methods) are removed or keyboard
shotcuts to change input methots are changed, but this issue disappears after
restarting GNOME-Shell :)

[Bug 1278863] Re: package gnome-settings-daemon-schemas (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: tentative de remplacement de « /usr/share/GConf/gsettings/gnome-settings-daemon.convert », qui appart

2014-06-30 Thread Palmar Thorsteinsson
Thanks to caspar luc's advise my system is now back to normal.

Got the package from here:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/trusty/gnome/gnome-settings-daemon-schemas
and installed it using: dpkg --force-overwrite -i
gnome-settings-daemon-schemas_3.8.6.1-0ubuntu11_all.deb

After a few upgrades and dist-upgrades I had a smooth running Ubuntu
GNOME 14.04.

I tried to remove unity, gnome compiz etc. to no avail. Aptitude's solution was
to remove gdm, gnome-shell etc. which was not what I wanted to do. Synaptic was
unable to fix things.

[Bug 1335811] [NEW] Subsequent File Operations windows hang after canceling first one

2014-06-30 Thread Christopher M. Penalver

3) What is expected to happen is when one initiates a nfs4 mounted file
transfer from Ubuntu 14.04 using a nautilus window, and then cancels the
transfer via clicking the button with a red circle with a white x in the
File Operations window, then initiates the same transfer, it begins
with minimal delay.

4) What happens instead is the new File Operations window opens but
doesn't actually progress. As well, when one attempts to cancel this new
File Operations window by clicking the cancel button, the button shows
as if it is depressed, but doesn't actually cancel the transfer, and
simply remains. Killing all the gvfs processes didn't recover the
window, so it would appear to be a nautilus issue.

The only WORKAROUND would be to restart, as restarting nautilus doesn't
smoothly recover, causes all the desktop icons to disappear, and will no
longer come up when initiated by a terminal.

2014-06-30 Thread Iain Lane
Okay, uploaded. Please wait for the current SRU (9.2) to clear out
before you accept it.

** Description changed:

+ [ Description ]
+
+ null pointer dereference in Nautilus selection open callback.
+
+ [ QA ]
+
+ Open `Files'. Make sure nothing is selected. Hit ctrl+alt+O.
+
+ [ Development fix ]
+
+ The exact same patch has been uploaded to Utopic.
+
+ [ Regression potential ]
+
+ The patch is pending review upstream. I think it's unlikely to cause
+ problems, but maybe it is expected that selection can be NULL.
+
+ [ Original description ]
+
This crash can be triggered immediately after logging in without any windows
open or with all application windows hidden.
When you press Ctrl+Alt+O, nautilus intercepts this keybinding and crashes.

I've installed the debug packages and managed to identify the brakage in
  the action_open_item_location_callback fuction in nautilus-view.c.

[Bug 1335881] [NEW] GTK+ print dialog doesn't permit to print more than 100 copies at once

2014-06-30 Thread Daniel Betschart
Public bug reported:

I want to print many copies with evince, but it only permits me a
maximum of 100 copies. The same for printouts in gedit, because the
problem is in the GTK+ print dialog.

The bug is known and fixed upstream:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=672676. Is it possible to
make a backport to 14.04 LTS and also 12.04 LTS, because GTK is in main

[Bug 1324437] [NEW] Nautilus window is not closed upon removable medium ejection

2014-06-30 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Usecase / description:
Insert USB disk-on-key. It is automounted, opening a new file browser window
for each mountable partition. On the left side pane, select any partition with
a mouse, right click, select eject from the menu.
The device is unmounted / ejected all right, but the file browser window stays
open.

The way it used to be in 12.04:
The device used to be unmounted / ejected just the same, the file browser
windows (one for each partition) were closed.

Why it is so annoying:
I constantly use an SD-card with 8 partitions. It was really much nicer when
all the windows went away the moment I had ejected the device.

[Bug 1170647] Re: Clicking on Nautilus’ launcher icon opens new window instead of restoring the minimized one when browsing external drives/locations

2014-06-30 Thread Anish Dowlut
Another workaround besides unpinning the nautilus icon, is this:

sudo mv /usr/share/applications/nautilus.desktop
/usr/share/applications/nautilus2.desktop
sudo mv /usr/share/applications/nautilus-folder-handler.desktop
/usr/share/applications/nautilus-folder-handler2.desktop
sudo mv /usr/share/applications/nautilus-home.desktop
/usr/share/applications/nautilus-home2.desktop

We're basically just renaming a few .desktop files related to nautilus.
This will prevent the launcher from recognizing nautilus as a file
manager and it won't execute the buggy behaviour.

However, when the bug has been fixed within unity itself, you should
rename the all the .desktop files back to their original names.
