[Bug 1267895] [NEW] nautilus connect to server cannot connect to smb with ntlm security
You have been subscribed to a public bug: At work, there are two samba servers I need to connect to. One of the servers connects without issues, the other does not. Symptoms: error message "This location could not be displayed. You do not have the permissions necessary to view the contents of “folder on server.domain.com” The connection is made: an icon with an eject icon is visible in the left nautilus pane. The right nautilus pane remains empty. I found the reason. The server is using ntml, and not ntmlv2. I can connect to the server with the command line using the option "sec=ntlm". Similar to OSX, Ubuntu should also connect graphically without issues on these servers that still use an old security protocol. ** Affects: gvfs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- nautilus connect to server cannot connect to smb with ntlm security https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1267895 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in Ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1305335] Re: nautilus fails to copy to ecryptfs Private folder on btrfs - all files 0 bytes
I just stumbled across this bug as well. Only noticed because I wasn't get thumbnails of an image I had just copied into my Private directory. I even tried using cp from the command line, so it's not a nautilus bug. Unfortunately I have no idea which (if any) files I lost as a result of this (I switched to btrfs over a month ago). Unmounting and re-mounting the Private directory causes the files to show up, even after deleting (I added the file, saw it was corrupted, deleted it, unmounted, remounted, and it was there). It wasn't 0 bytes, so there was data there. However it was still corrupt, and the md5sum differed from the original. I immediately copied everything out of my Private directory into a new directory. Everything went OK except for the corrupted file. It gave me input/output errors (on the original and the copies in .Trash), so I can only hope that the rest of the data is not corrupt. This is a VERY serious bug causing data loss with no warning to the user that it's happening. ** Also affects: ecryptfs Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1305335 Title: nautilus fails to copy to ecryptfs Private folder on btrfs - all files 0 bytes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ecryptfs/+bug/1305335/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1342970] [NEW] should have a recommends: on gnome-shell
Public bug reported: gnome-session 3.9.90-0ubuntu12 Some packages (e.g. gdm) use a dependency on gnome-session as shorthand for that plus a window manager. gnome-session should Recommends: gnome- shell. Otherwise xinit starts it, and then it aborts when gnome-shell isn't present. e.g. xinit has a Recommends on xterm | x-session-manager | x-window-manager | x-terminal-emulator so a session manager is expected to provide everything needed, including a window manager. gdm does similar. Looks like we got into this situation after https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-session/+bug/795191 when a dependency was completely removed, instead of changing to a recommends or suggests. It is apparently possible to have gnome-session start something other than gnome-shell, but that's certainly the default behaviour. I ran into this after cleaning up all the packages I don't use from my system, following an upgrade from 12.04 to 14.04. I use fluxbox, and just start things from bash in screen in gnome-terminal, not a graphical shell at all. I ended up with a graphical login, instead of my usual text console -> startx ** Affects: gnome-session (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-session in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1342970 Title: should have a recommends: on gnome-shell To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-session/+bug/1342970/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1341667] Re: Ctrl+Backspace should send ^W instead of doing the same thing as Backspace
I see. I assume you misplaced the closing parenthesis and meant this: In normal Gtk+ applications this key combination deletes the previous word (Ctrl+W in Bash). Terminals and apps running inside terminals (e.g. bash) are quite a different world from Gtk+ and it's hopeless to aim for the same Ctrl+Backspace behavior. Nevertheless, the behavior for Ctrl+Backspace in gnome-terminal is not what it should be, which will be addressed in the linked mainstream bug. After fixing that, you'll probably be able to bind ^H to deleting a word, although this might have some undesired side effects, I'm not sure about that. I think it's better if you get used to ^W or Alt+Backspace instead. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1341667 Title: Ctrl+Backspace should send ^W instead of doing the same thing as Backspace To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/1341667/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1341667] Re: Ctrl+Backspace should send ^W instead of doing the same thing as Backspace
See https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=733246 . Gnome-terminal should do whatever xterm does. "In normal Gtk+ applications this key combination deletes the previous word (Ctrl+W) in Bash" -- what do you mean by normal Gtk+ applications that run bash? Note that by default Alt+Backspace in bash does the same as ^W (and what you'd prefer Ctrl+Backspace to do). ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #733246 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=733246 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1341667 Title: Ctrl+Backspace should send ^W instead of doing the same thing as Backspace To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/1341667/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
