[Bug 1340907] Re: cannot edit tags in m4a files

2014-07-17 Thread Luc Pionchon
As I understand, rhythmbox was using a GStreamer plugin to edit m4a
tags, named qtdemux (for Quick Time demuxer)

But this plugin disappeared(?) since Ubuntu Precise.

It appears in Ubuntu Lucid [1], but is not anymore in Ubuntu Trusty [2]

Lucid has gstreamer0.10-plugins-good 0.10.21-1ubuntu2 [3]
Trusty has gstreamer0.10-plugins-good 0.10.31-3+nmu1ubuntu5 [4]

[Bug 1343261] [NEW] User accounts with id higher than 60000 are not shown in Trusty

2014-07-17 Thread Margarita Manterola
Public bug reported:

Version: 0.6.35-0ubuntu7

This bug is visible in lightdm, but it's actually a problem in Trusty's
accountsservice. The code in user-classify.c forces the user account to
be between 1000 and 6. Any accounts higher than 6 are
considered systems accounts and not shown in lightdm.

In Utopic this is fixed by modifying the code to not take into account
any maximum, but rather use the minimum and then filter nobody and
nobodynfs.

Editing login.defs is possible but is not enough, because in that case,
nobody isn't filtered.

The patch is quite small and can be backported to Trusty without much
issue.

[Bug 1305335] Re: nautilus fails to copy to ecryptfs Private folder on btrfs - all files 0 bytes

2014-07-17 Thread lunomad
I have continued to use the private directory so far without hitch.
Using nautilus and other programs, it seems as long as I create a file
in the Private directory and don't move or copy it, i'm fine. I have my
.thunderbird directory inside Private and everything seems to work just
fine. I've only had this issue on copying or moving using nautilus.

[Bug 12893] Re: Shouldn't put .Trash-$USER on removable devices

2014-07-17 Thread André Pirard
Тhere is on the other hand a high number of discussions of guys now
trying to make a volume trash.

The solution looks very simple to me.
Instead of automatically creating .Trash- directories with possible
permission problems to do so,
make it a partition formatting user option to create a trash (term he
understands) and then create
drwxrwxrwtroot root.Trash
Note the sticky bit t.
If .Trash exists when deleting a file, a trash subdirectory is created
without permission problem.

It might be easier to see a per volume trash than display by list sorted by
original location.
Ejecting the volume may indeed offer to empty the trash, but only of the
ejected volume.
It's even recommended if the volume is liable to be mounted on another system
with different uids.
Trash creation/removal may of course occur after formatting as a Nautilus
function.

I notice that the Trash applet does not see the volume trash of the boot
partition when its /home is a symbolic link to the mount point of a
volume.

[Bug 1313430] Re: Crashes on Ubuntu 14.04 when trying to connect to iPod

Still having a problem getting my iPod Touch (2nd Gen, 8GB) to work.
HOWEVER, my girlfriend's iPod Touch (2nd Gen, 16GB) works perfectly on
my computer! I'm out of ideas. I thought the problem might have been
with my iPod, but I tried resetting it to factory settings (twice) and
still nothing. I also know that the iPod WILL work with Ubuntu 12.04.4,
however I am not too keen on changing my entire OS just for a bleeding
MP3 player to work. Thinking about selling my iPod and getting a
Samsung Galaxy Player, because this is getting really stupid.

[Bug 1313430] Re: Crashes on Ubuntu 14.04 when trying to connect to iPod

2014-07-17 Thread chiefeagle02
Couple of more symptoms:

When I open the terminal and run:

idevicepair unpair idevicepair pair

I get the message: Device xxx is not paired with this host.

So then I tried running just:

idevicepair pair

I got: SUCCESS: Paired with device xxx

However, despite this, nothing works. The iPod has been showing up in
the File Manager PCManFM (running Lubuntu 14.04 LTS 64-bit), but
clicking on it does nothing but gives me an Unable To Connect message
(though I'll get an unhandled lockdown error (-3) or (-16)). The device
is also not showing up in Rhythmbox anymore. The computer knows the
iPod is there (running lsusb in the Terminal shows the iPod
connected), but there is no dialogue between the two. I've got the
latest libimobiledevice, ifuse, and libusbmuxd installed.
