[Bug 1367835] Re: Error downloading GPS Xtra data: [...] Timeout was reached: No space left on device

2014-09-22 Thread Loïc Minier
so first, the GPS download warning is indeed just a warning; the GPS
provider currently only works standalone, there's a bug preventing it to
work with the HERE location provider (Espoo).

The issue you now have is that the default location service config
points to the HERE location provider which you seem not to have. It's in
the custom tarballs for krillin and mako on utopic and rtm and the
wrappers are in the ubuntu-location-provider-here package.

Cheers,

[Bug 1372346] [NEW] [FFe] gnome-desktop 3.12 transition

2014-09-22 Thread Tim
Public bug reported:

We have been trying to land this transition for about 9 months now (well
previously was 3.10, but that was largely the same). The big blocker was
the removal of xrandr and idlemonitor code out of gnome-desktop. Robert
Ancell has solved that issue see Bug 1372240 (however that still hasn't
landed yet.

There is a SONAME bump, however that only affects g-s-d/g-c-c (and
u-s-d/u-c-c until above changes land). Mostly apps are using things like
the thumbnailer etc, and these are not affected by api changes, so they
just need to be rebuilt. gnome-session will need to be updated to latest
3.10 stable release.

Full lost of r-depends:
Reverse-Depends
===
* cheese
* eog
* epiphany-browser
* evince
* gir1.2-gnomedesktop-3.0
* gnome-clocks

[Bug 1369894] Re: evince crashed with SIGSEGV in ev_window_title_sanitize_title()

2014-09-22 Thread Walter Garcia-Fontes
I can reproduce it:

1) Create a PDF file with tex/latex for instance
2) Open the PDF file with evince
3) Change the tex/latex file and create a new PDF without closing EVINCE

What should happen?
Evince should reload the file and show the updated version.

What happens?
Evince crashes.

Public bug reported:

misplaced bug report. please delete

** Affects: gnome-nettool (Ubuntu)

 Status: Invalid

** Tags: cjk xterm

** Description changed:

- I'm not fluent in English but I'll try my best to describe.
-
- I'm using Xubuntu 14.04, and recently came upon this issue using xterm.
- Sometimes the the width of Chinese full-width comma ',' is not correctly
- displayed(shortened), resulting in charaters 'overlapping'.
-
- See the 'overlapping' effect at:
- http://i.imgur.com/G0Qxi40.png
-
- See the shortened full width comma at:
- http://i.imgur.com/Tf2k92W.png
- Note that the first line shows 'shortened' full-width comma, second and third
line show the normal full-width comma.
-
-
- --
- Step to reproduce in Xubuntu 14.04:
-
- 1. Make sure you have these packages installed:
-  'xterm', 'nano', 'fonts-wqy-zenhei';
-
- 2. Create/modify ~/.Xresources with the following contents:
-
- ! = start of .Xresources = !
- !mouse selecting to copy, ctrl-v to paste
- XTerm*VT100.Translations: #override \
- Ctrl KeyPress V: insert-selection(CLIPBOARD,PRIMARY,CUT_BUFFER0) \n\
- BtnUp: select-end(CLIPBOARD,PRIMARY,CUT_BUFFER0) \n\
-
- XTerm*utf8Title:true
- XTerm*cjkWidth:false
- XTerm*faceName:Dejavu Sans Mono:pixelsize=12
- XTerm*faceNameDoublesize:WenQuanYi Zen Hei Mono:pixelsize=13
- ! = end of .Xresources = !
-
- 3. execute in bash: xrdb -merge ~/.Xresources
-
- 4. Start nano in xterm;
-
- 5. copy the following string(not including quotation mark):
-  '您好,几位?'
-
- 6. In nano, press Ctrl-v to paste.( Previously configured in
- ~/.Xresources )
-
- 7. Press back arrow key to see the effect.
-
-
- Seems that only pasting those characters messes up the display, typing them
in has no effect.

[Bug 1342123] Re: evolution-calendar-factory always running with high memory usage

2014-09-22 Thread Bill Filler
To clarify, out of the box on krillin with no calendar sync even
enabled, evolution-calendar-factory uses 32MB which is the 4th highest
process in memory usage. This is with an empty database of no calendar
events or alarms.

I'm assuming evolution-calendar-factory gets loaded by indicator-
datetime initially such that the indicator can show calendar events.

If you have a large database of calendar entries (i.e. after you've done
a google calendar sync), as Pat reported this process can grow to well
over 100MB. It seems to have no upper bound, and since the evolution
backend for calendar is simply a flat file of type .ics, e-c-f appears
to load the entire file into memory.

e-c-f really needs a sqlite backend or something such that it can manage
it more efficiently. Someone needs to investigate what can be done in
the short term reduce the memory usage if possible.

[Bug 1339016] Re: Initial sync of the calendar takes a prohibitive amount of time

2014-09-22 Thread Bill Filler
We use syncevolution, which communicates with Google on the remote side
and evolution-data-server on the local side to store events. There is no
API in syncevolution to limit the scope of events retrieved. We need to
look into modifying it to do so, and to optimize it's operational time
as it's ridiculously slow (this in part is likely due to evolution-
calendar-factory using a flat file to store the calendar events).

Renato has indicated there is a newer version of syncevolution which has
recently been released that may improve the situation. The next step is
to try this new version and see if it helps.

[Bug 1372604] [NEW] Setting browser Default application ineffective (screenshot attached). Gnome.

2014-09-22 Thread Bryce Nesbitt
Public bug reported:

In Ubuntu 14.04LTS:

In system settings there's a control for Default applications for Web.
This does not appear to change the gnome-conf settings.
See attached screenshot.
Note how Firefox is shown in one place, Chrome in the other.

This in turn leads to incorrect behavior when a program like an RSS reader,
Skype or https://josm.openstreetmap.de/
wants to open a browser window to a particular URL. Usually I end up with a
blank Chrome window, where I wanted
a filled in Firefox window.

[Bug 1362919] Re: gcalctool 3.10.2 report incorrect expression when switching from hexa to decimal

2014-09-22 Thread Sebastien Bacher
I've backported the fix to utopic and uploaded a SRU for trusty as well

** Description changed:

- Version 1:3.10.2-0ubuntu1.1 on ubuntu 14.04 32bit
+ * Impact

- How to reproduce:
+ base changes lead to errors
+
+ * Test case
  - open gcalctool
  - choose Programming mode
  - choose decimal and enter a decimal number
  - choose hexadecimal to convert the number in hexa
- - then try to put and other hexadecimal number and you get the error
Incorrect expression every time

- I can't find a way to enter a new value at this point beside restarting
- the tool. This problem definitvely didn't occur with the previous
- version on ubuntu 12.04.
+ - then try to put and other hexadecimal number and you get the error,
+ you shouldn't
+
+ * Regression potential
+
+ Check that base changes still work correctly
