[Bug 1385606] [NEW] Black screen when entering GDM login page
Public bug reported: Ubuntu version: Ubuntu GNOME 14.10 stable amd64 GDM version: 3.10.0.1-0ubuntu7 CPU Vendor: AMD GPU vendor: AMD Computer type: Laptop After fresh installing Ubuntu GNOME 14.10, everything was fine and I installed fglrx. However after I reboot my machine it just stuck between the start screen (with GNOME's footprint in the center) and the login page. It was a black screen but the screen is on because I could see the backlight. However I was able to change to a tty by pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1 and after I installed LightDM and made it as default my machine successfully booted into the login page and everything was fine. I think this is a bug related to GDM, fglrx, systemd and upstart. [Bug 1384158] Re: Background image can no longer be set independently of org.gnome.background show-desktop-icons=true
I checked again, and according to (Ubuntu's patched) Nautilus code it either draws both background and icons, or nothing. So it is definitely a bug in Nautilus package. ** Package changed: gnome-panel (Ubuntu) = nautilus (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-panel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1384158 Title: Background image can no longer be set independently of org.gnome.background show-desktop-icons=true To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1384158/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1385622] [NEW] libgtk-3.a and libgdk-3.a missing in libgtk-3-dev
Public bug reported: In one of the latest releases, you removed the static libraries from libgtk-3-dev. (They were still there in 3.4.2 and are missing in 3.10.8-0ubuntu1.) Please consider re-adding them. I have read in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdk-pixbuf/+bug/1101157 that you removed them on purpose, but I must object to the claim that static builds of gtk have so many issues that it is justified to remove the static libraries at all. I admittetly build my static version of gtk with `--disable-modules`, but with that build flag, I haven't experienced any issues with statically linked gtk applications so far. ** Affects: gtk+3.0 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gtk+3.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1385622 Title: libgtk-3.a and libgdk-3.a missing in libgtk-3-dev To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk+3.0/+bug/1385622/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1159724] Re: Error setting extended attribute 'xdg.origin.url' while saving a duplicate
Reported at XFCE: https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11248 Also for anyone getting annoyed by this bug, a workaround is to install pcmanfm, which is based on Thunar. Then just set your default file manager to pcmanfm in the Settings Manager - Preferred Applications. The two file managers are very alike so nothing feels out of place when using pcmanfm. ** Bug watch added: Xfce Bugzilla #11248 https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11248 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evince in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1159724 Title: Error setting extended attribute 'xdg.origin.url' while saving a duplicate To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/thunar/+bug/1159724/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1385630] [NEW] New systemd (215) does not boot very well
Public bug reported: I just installed (for testing) the newest systemd from Vivid proposed repositories. Yes, that is only a proposed package. The version is 215-5ubuntu1. Also the new plymouth was needed to do this (version 0.9.0-0ubuntu8). After the installation I find that every second boot or reboot fails. It fails with a system-fsck line, so nowhere to go from this, no tty's, no nothing. After each failure the next booting is successful, however. My setup is extremely fast, I am able to get to the desktop in about 5 seconds from grub menu. [Bug 1385738] [NEW] Cannot use TAB to choose symbol from ibus-mozc in gedit 3.10.4-0ubuntu6
Public bug reported: When ibus-mozc for Japanese input is installed and activated in gedit I cannot choose the symbols with TAB. Instead gedit just writes a TAB. Also with clicking on the symbol I cannot choose them. This way I cannot use gedit and ibus-mozc because I can just type Hiragana and Katakana but no Kanji. Choosing the symbols from the drop down list works in Firefox, LibreOffice Writer and the Gnome Terminal. This is why I think it is a bug in gedit. It used to work in Ubuntu 14.04. Just updated to Ubuntu 14.10. Did a clean installation i.e. formated the entire disk before installation. [Bug 1385758] [NEW] brasero failed to correctly burn aac file
Public bug reported: I created an aac file: ls -s pieces.aac 34624 pieces.aac $ file pieces.aac pieces.aac: MPEG ADTS, AAC, v4 LC, 48 kHz, stereo The file is relatively long, about 45 minutes, and plays correctly with totem, vlc and avplay. I would expect brasero to decode the aac file and burn it to cd When I attempted to burn this file as an audio cd, brasero identifies it as a 6 minute audio file. The burning proceeds without apparent error, but doesn't produce a valid audio cd. It may be that brasero is intepreting the aac file as an uncompressed pcm format file. system detail: $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS Release:14.04 $ apt-cache policy brasero brasero: Installed: 3.11.3-0ubuntu1~trusty1 Candidate: 3.11.4-0ubuntu1~trusty1 Version table: 3.11.4-0ubuntu1~trusty1 0 500 http://ppa.launchpad.net/gnome3-team/gnome3-staging/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages *** 3.11.3-0ubuntu1~trusty1 0 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 3.10.0-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages ** Affects: brasero (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to brasero in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1385758 Title: brasero failed to correctly burn aac file To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/brasero/+bug/1385758/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
