[Bug 231385] Re: EOG opens images with 99% zoom (blurry) instead of 100%

2014-11-13 Thread Rasmus Graver
I have installed Ubuntu on several computers the last years, and I have
experienced this bug in most of the installations. So annoying: Why not
just make the window 2px bigger to fit the image on 100%.

[Bug 1391354] Re: Failure to boot ephemeral image for Utopic Fast Installer deployment: no ID_PATH for iSCSI device any more

2014-11-13 Thread Martin Pitt
I confirm that this is fixed in vivid's udev. sudo ./udevadm -d test-
builtin path_id /sys/block/sda shows ID_PATH=ip-10.0.2.2:3260-iscsi-
utopic-daily-maas-amd64-lun-1 again, and replacing /lib/systemd/systemd-
udevd with 215-5's binary gets the by-path/ symlink again. So now off to
finding the fix in the history..

2014-11-13 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thanks but I can't confirm that, after selecting automatic the time at
the bottom of the settings panel catch up less than 10 seconds later. In
any case not a settings bug, we call the systemd's helper to change to
ntp on, if that doesn't work it's an issue with ntp/systemd

[Bug 1384437] Re: 8086:088e [Asus UX32VD] bluetooth problems

2014-11-13 Thread David
The problem is Ubuntu using different versions of gnome at the same time:
gnome-bluetooth 3.8.2.1-0ubuntu9
gnome-settings-daemon 3.12.2-1ubuntu2

or to be more precise: gnome-bluetooth is too old to communicate with
gnome-settings-daemon.

Bastien Nocera from the gnome team quickly found the issue:
Get the distribution to fix this. GNOME 3.12 (when both g-s-d and
gnome-bluetooth 3.12 are used) will talk to rfkill directly to fix such
problems. Your mismatched version won't (older gnome-bluetooth doesn't know
 how
to talk to the newer gnome-settings-daemon).

[Bug 1392176] [NEW] Systemd mounts cgroups unconditionally which causes undesired effects with cpu hotplug

2014-11-13 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

== Comment: #0 - Preeti U. Murthy preeti.mur...@in.ibm.com - 2014-10-20
04:40:12 ==
---Problem Description---
Systemd mounts cgroups explicitly every boot. Since the user had no say in it,
undesired consequences are observed in reaction to cpu hotplug operations.
Here is how.

Systemd moves the tasks to the cgroup mounted by it. This cgroup automatically
becomes the child of the root cgroup which is present by default. The children
cgroups are not expected to remember their configured cpusets after hotplug
operations in the kernel. Hence when cpus are taken offline and brought back
online they are no longer used for load balancing of tasks and hence remain
unused.
This is an undesired consequence because the user had not even asked for
cgroups to be mounted, yet is not able to use the full capacity of the system.

Only when the user himself creates cgroup hierarchies, should he be
exposed to the side effects of cpu hotplug on cpusets. Else all online
cpus must be made available to him which is not happening since systemd
mounts cgroups on every boot.

Hence please revert this feature or provide an explaination as to why this is
being done.

[Bug 1392389] [NEW] rhythmbox crashed with SIGSEGV in totem_pl_parser_parse_with_base()

2014-11-13 Thread Andrew J. Wippler
Public bug reported:

I am behind a firewall that requires me to login before I can use the
internet. When rhythmbox checks podcast feeds when I am not logged in, I
am greeted with a crash report with rhythmbox crashed with SIGSEGV in
totem_pl_parser_parse_with_base() as the title.

It would be nice if the function threw an exception when did not get
what it expected and present an error rather than a crash. I would
submit a patch, but do not have the coding expertise to do so :/

When I am logged into our filter to access the internet, I do not get
this crash. It only happens when I am not logged into the filter.

[Bug 1392176] Re: mounts cgroups unconditionally which causes undesired effects with cpu hotplug

2014-11-13 Thread Martin Pitt
systemd (in the sense of pid 1) doesn't do that. I. e. if you boot with
init=/bin/systemd the only cgroup controller it puts tasks into (by
default) is the systemd one, for that very reason. But if you boot
with upstart (Ubuntu's default still), cgmanager creates cgroups.
cgmanager puts tasks into *all* controllers (including cpu); as far as
I know, this is so that user LXC containers work. So from cgmanager's
POV this might be a design decision which can't otherwise be
accomplished with the current kernel, but I'll let the cgmanager
maintainers decide about whether this is a wontfix or whether there is
a more elegant way to make user containers work.

** Summary changed:

- Systemd mounts cgroups unconditionally which causes undesired effects with
cpu hotplug
+ mounts cgroups unconditionally which causes undesired effects with cpu hotplug

** Package changed: systemd (Ubuntu) = cgmanager (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1348384] Re: evince and okular do not render eps files correctly resulting in a black background

2014-11-13 Thread Achim Bohnet
So how's fault is it? Is it in scope of libspectre tasks to add a dummy
showpage for eps files? Or have all applications that
use libspectre handle this case themself?

The ubuntu1 ubuntu1.1 diff is here:

http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-branches/ubuntu/trusty/libspectre
/trusty-updates/revision/14

I've subscribed Till Kamppeter to this bug, to get his attention. He
the one that cherry picked the patch.

Achim

[Bug 678421] Re: Error message for a faulty ~/.profile script

2014-11-13 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
I have successfully installed and run lightdm 1.12.2-0ubuntu1 from
utopic-proposed. The behavior in case of a syntax error in ~/.profile
has changed in accordance with the test case in the bug description.

[Bug 1392483] [NEW] disk utility has only the option to add disk

2014-11-13 Thread j
Public bug reported:

When using the disk utility to manage raid arrays, the RAID Disks submenu gives
the option to add a disk, but it is only the disk, it does not give the option
of adding a partion on any of the available disks.
Usually one is adding a partition, ie; sda1 to the array as opposed to the
whole disk, ie; sda, this can be added at the cli of course but not using the
disk utility gui.

** Affects: gnome-disk-utility (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1308262] Re: libpam-systemd postinstall stuck on upgrade

2014-11-13 Thread Martin Pitt
The most prominent cause of breakage in trusty was bug 1382510, which is
fixed in trusty-updates now. Do people still encounter this with
204-5ubuntu20.8? If so, we need to debug what else breaks in the init
script (adding some set -x, etc.)
