[Bug 1400470] Re: cannot download photos using shotwell via usb

2014-12-13 Thread kenden
Confirmed, this happens with my phone (Nexus 5) on Ubuntu 14.04 / Mint
17.1. Shotwell 0.18.0

Workaround, from:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/shotwell/+question/157569

Shotwell is supposed to popup a dialog asking you to unmount, however there
are cases where this doesn't work.
You may have to unmount the camera in Nautilus before starting Shotwell.

Unmounting in Nautilus before starting Shotwell works for me.

Yes, this is working, thank you. But we can be even more happy, when
Presentation also will work in predictable/intuitive manner (not ignore
user settings, like Fullscreen mode does). That will conforms to Look

[Bug 1277641] Re: German keyboard layout loses tilde dead key

2014-12-13 Thread mariano
+1

German (legacy) brings back the dead key function for now, but I agree
with umehlig. A possible removal in the future should not happen, and
shunting the dead key function to the legacy keyboard layout is not a
nice solution.

2014-12-13 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Dylan Coakley, regarding you not being able to transfer via MTP, this bug is
not scoped to that problem. If you would like that problem addressed, please
file a new report via a terminal:
ubuntu-bug linux

Please feel free to subscribe me to it.

Regarding a fix time line, as one will notice at the top of this report
page, this is a reported upstream issue. Hence, it will be fixed when
developer resources are available for it.

[Bug 1401351] [NEW] sshfs/gvfs mount consumes 100% cpu on local and remote computer

2014-12-13 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

After upgrade from 14.04 to 14.10 I am having very slow file transfers
when I use Connect to Server in Files (nautilus?) over gigabit LAN.
(10 mb/sec max) This is fixed by mounting folder with sshfs and I can
transfer 3 gb file in a few seconds BUT on CPU single core on local and
remote host has 100% CPU utilization and very high memory usage by gvfs.

sshfs user@remote:/home/folder/ /home/folder

fusermount -u ~/folder kills the 100% single core CPU and memory usage
on local but on remote machine 100% CPU of single core of CPU and large
amounts of memory still being utilized by gvfs.

Local machine is Ubuntu 14.10 64 bit (Upgrade from 14.04) and remote is
Ubuntu Server 14.10 64bit (Upgrade from 14.04 also)

(I don't know which program being used under gvfs is causing the high
memory and 100% single CPU core utilization.)

2014-12-13 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
thecure, thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command, as it will automatically
gather debugging information, in a terminal:
apport-collect 1401351
When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-bug' and
the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality
at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

Also, if you only downgrade either the client or server (not both) is
the problem either not reproducible, or only reproducible on one of the
clients?

[Bug 1401192] Re: gnome-terminal crashes on editing preferences

2014-12-13 Thread Tamas Papp
https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/Terminal/ReportingBugs

If you're a developer of GNOME Terminal, VTE, or GNOME in general, you
can file the bug in GNOME's bugzilla. In all other cases, you should
file the bug against your Linux distribution's bug tracker; see here for
a list of distribution bug trackers. The distribution bug triagers will
then gather all the necessary information and confirmation before
forwarding the bug to our bugzilla, if necessary.

https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=741364#c2

Bug wasn't ripe for upstreaming; it's missing a backtrace, for example. See
https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/Terminal/ReportingBugs for more information.

I see, that you reported this as downstream issue but I am afraid that due to
above reason they won't care about that report.
They ask for debug packages and strackstrace, but I cannot provide that.

Rest assured, it's not that we don't care, it's that we couldn't
reproduce on our systems and have absolutely no clue what could be the
problem. Chances are it's some problem with some other component of
Vivid that is still unstable.

Purely out of curiosity: Upgraded to vivid on 2013-05-03 (585 days

I don't want to be rude.
By 'not caring' I mean they will not step forward until a complete report is

[Bug 45174] Re: Gedit's find and replace, very slow replacement of spaces?

2014-12-13 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: gedit

- When trying to replace the space character with nothing on a
- relatively small file with many spaces in it on on line, gedit seems to
- hang or is just taking way too long to perform this operation! Use the
- attached file for demonstration purposes and follow along:
+ 1) lsb_release -rd
+ Description: Ubuntu Vivid Vervet (development branch)
+ Release: 15.04

- 1) open attached file spaces.txt with gedit 2.12.1
- 2) Choose Search-Replace from the menu bar (CTRL-R)
- 3) Enter a space character, (don't include quotes), in the 'Search for'
field, and enter nothing in the 'Replace with' field.
- 4) Now click Replace All and watch how slow it is! Gedit may need to be
killed...

+ Installed: 3.10.4-0ubuntu7

+ Ctrl+H in the Search for: text box put a space immediately click
