[Bug 1371854] Re: users-admin: group name limited to 16 characters

2014-12-19 Thread Christopher Chavez
** Description changed:

In users-admin (a.k.a. Users Settings), under Manage Groups/Group
Settings, while the listed groups available may have more than 16
characters, when viewing a group's properties the Group name field in
Basic Settings only shows the first 16 characters (e.g. chrome-remote-
desktop is truncated as chrome-remote-de) . Additionally, this
prevents creating a group with a name longer than 16 characters using
  users-admin.

(I understand that the system limit may have been 16 characters
historically; man groupadd reports it is currently 32 characters.)
+
+ Present in both 14.04 (gnome-system-tools 3.0.0-3ubuntu4) and 14.10

[Bug 1246232] Re: gnome-keyring-daemon still use the old path

2014-12-19 Thread dino99
Upstream have declared that 'issue' as invalid:

Stef Walter [gnome-keyring developer] 2014-03-06 20:05:11 UTC
Hmmm, it's not a warning or error, it's a simple LOG_NOTICE priority message:

https://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-keyring/tree/pkcs11/gkm/gkm-util.c#n160
https://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-keyring/tree/daemon/gkd-main.c#n293

If someone is interested in working on migration functionality, I wouldn't be
against that.

As vivid still has this logged and seems 'an issue' maybe it should be
silenced at least.

[Bug 1299138] Re: [users-admin] User settings might hang when password is too simple

2014-12-19 Thread Christopher Chavez
I can reproduce this on Ubuntu MATE 14.04.1 (gnome-system-tools
3.0.0-3ubuntu4) and Ubuntu MATE 14.10 (3.0.0-3ubuntu5). Specifically,
the entire program doesn't hang (nor is there any CPU runaway), the
Change User Password dialog itself becomes unresponsive and can be
closed, and the password does not change.

I get less terminal output than @intherye when I run (not getting any
output when closing the window):

$ users-admin

(users-admin:2402): Liboobs-WARNING **: There was an unknown error
communicating asynchronously with the backends: Launch helper exited
with unknown return code 255

The same happens when I run users-admin over ssh from linux but,
interestingly, NOT when I run over ssh from OS X: same terminal output,
and the UI isn't decorated (using OpenSSH_6.7p1, OpenSSL 1.0.1j 15 Oct
2014 for macports and XQuartz 2.7.8_beta1 on OS X 10.10.1).

can not helpt to pin down which update causes this, because I do not
update all that often, it was something il past 2-3 months. Ether way it

[Bug 1310174] Re: cryptsetup should be included and installed by default in ubuntu 14.04

2014-12-19 Thread lostboy1
I too ran in to a problem after upgrading a luks full disk encrypted
12.04.5 system to 14.04.1. After successfully upgrading, upon reboot I
was asked for the luks password for the root system. After entering the
password, I see sever errors including /sbin/cryptsetup not found.

After doing research I came across bug
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cryptsetup/+bug/1256730. After
booting from a rescue cd, creating the file in comment #4 and updating
the initrd, the cryptsetup could be found in the initrd.

Another reboot and all was good.

[Bug 1385882] Re: Unable to mount iPad with IOS 8

2014-12-19 Thread Max Barry
Also occurs with iPhone 6 running iOS 8.1.2 (not just iPad).

After plugging in my phone, I get two icons in the sidebar: My name's
iPhone and iPhone. They look identical and offer the same right-click
menu choices (Open, Name, Unlock from launcher). Only the first
one works, though: when clicked, the file browser opens and displays the
contents of the phone, and the sidebar menu gains a new right-click
option Unmount. The second icon (iPhone) seems completely inert.

So the error doesn't seem to prevent the phone from being mounted, but
something's not quite right.

I don't even know what's going on with the greeters in newer versions of

it's something I'll have to Google for a while to find a workaround.

[Bug 1094383] Re: Evince does not allow to rotate/move 3D pdf

2014-12-19 Thread YannUbuntu
I can reproduce in Trusty.

Christopher, just to be sure we are talking about the same thing: this bug is
about rotating/moving the part, like a CAD software would do. (eg you can see
behind the part).
If that's what you are able to do, please can you explain how you do it?

** Description changed:

  Evince 3.6.0

I can open a 3D pdf (example in attached file) with Evince, but i cannot
- move/rotate it.
+ move/rotate it. The contents of the PDF remains static (eg impossible to
+ see behind the part which is in the example).

I can do it with Adobe Reader on Windows.

[Bug 1404393] [NEW] Slowdown loading a Pdf file

2014-12-19 Thread Jose Gómez
Public bug reported:

Evince freezes while loading the second page onwars of this document:
http://www.hotmobile.org/2012/papers/HotMobile12-final72.pdf

With an earlier version of evince, this document used to crash evince
and use a substantial amount of CPU and RAM
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/1129430), but
that issue seems to be (at least partially) solved now. There is no
crash now, just the slowdown.

For reference, the same slowdown is happening with Okular (0.20.0).

[Bug 1094383] Re: Evince does not allow to rotate/move 3D pdf

2014-12-19 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
YannUbuntu, thanks for the fast response. What I did was open the
attached file
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/1094383/+attachment/3469968/+files/pdf3d_sample.pdf
and click Edit Rotate Right/Left and the entire picture rotated.

However, based on your additional comment it sounds like you are
expecting it to do as it does in Adobe Reader, where if one secondary
clicks the object in the PDF, one may click Enable Content and rotate
it around three-dimensionally. Would this be what you were expecting? If
so, I don't believe that is currently supported by the Evince project.

[Bug 63587] Re: Can't queue a song more than once in Rhythmbox

2014-12-19 Thread Mike Hicks
This bug is still present in Rhythmbox 3.0.2-0ubuntu2. Banshee had only
briefly been the default music player in Ubuntu, and Rhythmbox is the
default again (in main for Ubuntu 14.04 while Banshee is in
universe). I have been using Banshee for several years, but a new bug
has cropped up which makes that package nearly unusable for me. This
queuing problem is the main reason I have not been using Rhythmbox. I
consider the software incomplete if it doesn't have this feature.

[Bug 1403583] Re: notify-osd does not work with Metacity

2014-12-19 Thread Alberts Muktupāvels
Notify OSD is using many deprecated functions. Then there are other
warnings. It might be good idea to fix warnings. Does someone still
develop / maintain Notify OSD?

expose_handler function in bubble.c has wrong parameter...
GdkEventExpose should be cairo_t.

Replacing gtk_widget_realize with gtk_widget_show in bubble.c made
notifications work again. So maybe something has changed in GTK+ that
prevents notifications to show up? But then why it works with other
window managers except metacity?

[Bug 1403583] Re: notify-osd does not work with Metacity

2014-12-19 Thread Alberts Muktupāvels
Just built metacity 2.34.13 and notifications does not work. So at least
this is not regression in metacity.

Send for example 5 notifications:
notify-send Message Title The message body is shown here
Then run:
metacity --replace

Notifications will works. But when queue will be empty notifications
will not work again.
