[Bug 1421342] [NEW] Location service always on with restart
Public bug reported: 1: On OS build #5 - #13 (Channel: ubuntu-touch/ubuntu-rtm/14.09) with mako, I manually disable GPS and Location detection. 2: Then choose either Restart or Power off. Upon boot, both settings are shown as enabled. 3: I expect the settings from 1 should be cached and applied until the user changes them, not automatically enabled on restart. ** Affects: location-service (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to location-service in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1421342 Title: Location service always on with restart To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/location-service/+bug/1421342/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1421102] [NEW] Battery stastics information are incorrect
Public bug reported: Asus UX21A laptop. Ubuntu 14.10. Gnome Flashback. Note that I can boot the same computer in Windows 7, and power information seems accurate and predictable, leading me to believe the problem is with Ubuntu. Symptom 1: Power cord has an indicator light that is green when battery is fully charged, and orange when still charging. When using Ubuntu, the power indicator on the cord will be green, indicating full charge, but the power indicator in the Gnome interface reports significant charging times. For example, even though the power cable indicator is green for fully charged, Ubuntu will say the battery is at 75% charge and forty minutes to complete charging. Symptom 2: Computer powers off suddenly, without any indicator warnings. I watch the power statistics, and it will indicate 50% of charge left, but suddenly the power will go off. I will reboot, and immediately after logging into Ubuntu, the power indicator in the gnome panel is red, indicates less than 4% power, and takes action to power off the machine. In short, the power indicators within Ubuntu seem to be inconsistent with what the actual charge of the battery is. I have seen this problem reported in other bugs, but I opted to open a new bug because all bug reports I saw were from previous versions of Ubuntu, 13.10 and prior, had claimed in most cases to be fixed, or were several years out of date. [Bug 1419623] Re: systemd unmounts partitions from fstab
I finally understand what's going on. This started a few weeks ago when we got lxcfs. What happens: - lxcfs' upstart job and systemd unit have this gem: sed -i /^lxcfs \/var\/lib\/lxcfs fuse.lxcfs/d /etc/mtab This will turn /etc/mtab into a file if it was a symlink to /proc/mounts. But these days we actually want it to be a symlink, as /etc/mtab as a static file is just a braindead and broken concept. - When systemd starts up, it parses existing mounts (via /etc/mtab) and creates mounts for them. This will include all the old mounts from the previous boot due to the previous issue. That's what triggers all these dead - mounted transitions for all mounts right at the beginning of boot. But as the backing devices of them aren't discovered/there yet, but a mount unit is always bound to its underlying device unit, systemd cleans them up, i. e. stops them. This is usually meant for cleaning stale mounts from unplugged devices; it also makes sense here as these mounts indeed are not mounted at the moment. - Later on, the fstab generated mounts are actually being executed. But this races with the async mount cleanup handler from above, so depending on the particular machine, installed services, and current wind speed it may happen at a harmless (before the fstab mounts) or at a bad time (after the fstab mounts). - Even later, our debian-fixup.service transitions /etc/mtab from a file to a symlink. This is supposed to be an one-time migration, but lxcfs always reverts that during shutdown. ** Also affects: lxcfs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: lxcfs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = High ** Changed in: lxcfs (Ubuntu) Status: New = Triaged ** Changed in: lxcfs (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Martin Pitt (pitti) ** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = In Progress ** Changed in: lxcfs (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged = In Progress ** Summary changed: - systemd unmounts partitions from fstab + systemd unmounts partitions from fstab when lxcfs is installed ** Summary changed: - systemd unmounts partitions from fstab when lxcfs is installed + systemd unmounts mounted filesystems when lxcfs is installed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1419623 Title: systemd unmounts mounted filesystems when lxcfs is installed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxcfs/+bug/1419623/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1421204] [NEW] Nautilus slow to react to keyboard input while calculating items in folders
Public bug reported: I am using Nautilus to navigate to a network share with a few hundred folders, and my nautilus is set to display the list view. To fill out the size column, nautilus eagerly traverses all the folders on the network share to find the number of items inside each folder. While it's doing this, keyboard input is ignored (or queued until it's done counting, not sure). When I navigate to a folder, and I know the name of the folder I want to access in the next step, I can usually just type the name of the folder into nautilus, and it jumps to the folder name for me. Instead, I have to wait, or I have to grab the mouse and start browsing. I think the correct behaviour would be to run any such item counting in a way that it doesn't interrupt usability, and give priority to user input. In most cases, I'd type the name of my folder and hit enter to open it quite a lot faster than the time nautilus spends just counting items. That way I'd be saving both time and system resources if nautilus gave priority to the user rather than to stats counting. My folder view in nautilus is sorted by name, not size, so the item counts are only displayed. I'm not actually using them for anything. Removing the size column seems to improve the situation, but I don't consider that an acceptable workaround. Fetching all the Modified times from the server sometimes takes a noticable amount of time as well, so for good responsiveness I may have to remove that as well, as the situation is currently.
