[Bug 1453655] Re: desktop icons disappear on Ubuntu 15.04 when clicking Open Dropbox folder

2015-06-23 Thread Chow Loong Jin
** Description changed:

  I've been using both Ubuntu and dropbox for several years. With Ubuntu
  15.04 there is a new problem that my desktop icons disappear when I
  click on the dropbox icon in the status bar and choose Open Dropbox
  Folder. Then the desktop icons will disappear - but will remain visible
  in Files -> Desktop.

  The only way I know to get the desktop icons back is to log out and then
  log back in again. The bug is 100% reproducible, and it never appeared
  before 15.04. I also have Copy on my status bar. Clicking on Copy ->
  Open Copy Folder has no problems. Likewise I can use File with a right
  click and use Open a New Window and that too is OK. Only dropbox has a
  problem and only since 15.04

  If I can help in any way, please contact me ilan.tal - at - gmail.com
+
+ [Impact]
+ DE-agnostic programs that invoke nautilus using "nautilus --no-desktop" will
make the nautilus-rendered desktop vanish. Dropbox is one such case.
+
+ [Test Case]
+ 1. Launch nautilus, and make sure it is currently rendering the desktop.
+ 2. Run "nautilus --no-desktop /"
+ 3. See if the desktop vanishes.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ The patch is relatively trivial, only affecting the --no-desktop codepath. As
a worst case, --no-desktop would not function correctly in cases where nautilus
is not already running (--no-desktop when nautilus is not already running means
nautilus should not render the desktop at all). Just to make sure, this
additional test case should be used:
+
+ 1. Kill nautilus, and make sure it doesn't get relaunched.
+ 2. Check to see what the desktop looks like (shouldn't be rendered by
nautilus, at least)
+ 3. Launch "nautilus --no-desktop /"
+ 4. Make sure that nautilus really doesn't render a desktop.

[Bug 1468103] [NEW] rc.local runs too early.

2015-06-23 Thread Scott Moser
Public bug reported:

per https://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/debian-faq/ch-customizing.en.html
 | The rc.local script is executed at the end of each multiuser runlevel.

Generally speaking people expect rc.local to be run as "the last thing
in boot".

currently it is being run by systemd much earlier.

Provided in the attached is user-data that tells cloud-init to write a
file in /usr/local/bin/rc-local-message and edit set rc.local to execute
it.

On current wily, under most scenarios the script will not be executed as
rc.local will most likely run before the cloud-init service has a chance
to update /etc/rc.local.

To reproduce:
 a.) launch an instance with provided user-data

Expected behavior would be:
 1. /run/rc-local-message exists with contents of /proc/uptime at the time it
was run
 2. /rc-local-message.mark exists with the number of times this script has
been run ('1' after first boot)
 3.  /var/log/rc-local-message.log exists with a message like:
  [/var/log/rc-local-message.log]  === successful boot 1
 4. console log should also have message like in 3 with '/dev/console'

4 is broken as rc.local output is not sent to console as reported
separately at bug 1468102.

2015-06-23 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Ubuntu 15.04 Alpha-1 Candidates are not booting in EC2. Instances are dropping
to
 - Boot args (cat /proc/cmdline)
   - Check rootdelay= (did the system wait long enough?)
   - Check root= (did the system wait for the right device?)
 - Missing modules (cat /proc/modules; ls /dev)
ALERT!  /dev/disk/by-uuid/e420d299-69ee-46eb-a1a4-893b54ab89a7 does not exist.
Dropping to a shell!

This is happening on all instances and whether disks are mounted by label or

[Bug 906081] Re: Disabling 'Login without a password' does not remove user from the nopasswdlogin group

2015-06-23 Thread Shashank VRSN Sabniveesu
On Ubuntu Trusty Tahr(14.04.2 LTS).

On an existing user account, after a while, I set 'Login without a
password' via 'User Management' in gnome-control-center.

Now I disabled 'Login without a password', and configured a password for
the user. On subsequent reboots, I am still able to login without a
password.

'groups' command shows that this account is still a part of 'nopasswdlogin'
group.
[reworded original bug description]

I am of the opinion that the source of the bug lies in not reversing the
operation (of adding username to 'nopasswordlogin' group). Should I be
checking in the source code of gnome-control-center?

Any suggestions/RTFMs?

[Bug 1468078] [NEW] after entering path where to open file user has no idea which directory he_she is in

2015-06-23 Thread Karl-Philipp Richter
Public bug reported:

The path needs to be displayed at all times (there's no case where the
user wants to be lost in an unknown directory). If entering the path
fails, there seems to be a fallback which can't be determined, i.e. the
user needs to guess from the directory structure or use `gedit` on the

[Bug 1468020] [NEW] Two GPS compatible apps conflict and loose GPS

2015-06-23 Thread Ronnie Tucker
Public bug reported:

Meizu MX4 with Ubuntu 15.04 r2

1. run OSMscout (for example)
2. drive/cycle a distance to confirm that GPS tracking is working fine
3. run the camera app (for example)
4. take a few photos (they'll be tagged with GPS info)
5. switch to OSMscout
6. drive/cycle and OSM will now not update from GPS

Haven't tested this with other apps as yet, but it seems that one app
will take control of the GPS and not hand it back. (For want of a better
explanation.)

** Affects: location-service (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1153488] Re: Treats bluetooth input device batteries as batteries

2015-06-23 Thread Leon
Same/similar issue here on 15.04 with a Mad Catz Mouse and a laptop. The
icon in the notification bar averages both the mouse and the laptop
batteries in order to show one (1) laptop battery value.

If I open the Power Statistics screen, both batteries are listed as
laptop batteries.

[Bug 1467906] [NEW] Suspend, resume, can't shut down (cryptswap is suspect)

2015-06-23 Thread Eric Phetteplace
Public bug reported:

Background:
1. Fresh boot
2. Suspend, and computer appears to suspend.
3. Resume and computer resumes.
4. Try to shut down, and it will not.
4a. Message in /var/log/syslog: Failed to start poweroff.target: Transaction is
destructive.

I am reporting this bug after a fresh boot, using ubuntu-bug

Perhaps this is the underlying issue. I have a relatively new install
of Ubuntu 15.04. During install, I chose to encrypt my partitions.
Upon booting, I enter my key for the primary partition and the swap
partition. I don't think cryptswap is properly starting:

ericp@pucky:~$ systemctl list-jobs
JOB UNIT  TYPE  STATE
563 dev-mapper-cryptswap1.device  start running
564 dev-mapper-cryptswap1.swapstart waiting
549 systemd-cryptsetup@cryptswap1.service start running

Running top, I see swap is allocated, and I've seen it being used. I'm
not sure what it never gets to a happy state.

[Bug 613809] Re: [FFe] gnomeradio NO SOUND, no /dev/mixer present

2015-06-23 Thread VPablo
It seems that gnomeradio is dead from upstream:

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=788626

Is there any program to listen the radio via PCI card like gnomeradio?

[Bug 1466289] Re: Update to 0.6.40

2015-06-23 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package accountsservice - 0.6.40-2ubuntu1

---
accountsservice (0.6.40-2ubuntu1) wily; urgency=medium

  * Merge with Debian, remaining Ubuntu changes (LP: #1466289):
  * debian/compat:
- Use version 9.
  * debian/control:
- Use debhelper version 9.
- Add libpam-pin build-depends: dh-exec, libgcr-3-dev, libgcrypt11-dev,
  libgnutls-dev, libpam0g-dev.
- Use multi-arch.
- libaccountsservice-dev depends on gir1.2-accountsservice-1.0, not
  libgirepository1.0-dev.
- Add libpam-pin package.
  * debian/rules:
- Use -O1 instead of -O2 because it works around a problem with
  the manager object never reporting its readiness to users of
  libaccountsservice. Hoping this fixes LP: #1351308
- Don't multi-arch the libexec dir
  * debian/gir1.2-accountsservice-1.0.install:
  * debian/libaccountsservice-dev.install:
  * debian/libaccountsservice0.install:
- Update for multiarch paths.
  * debian/accountsservice.postinst:
- don't try restarting the service from the maintainer script after
  upgrades.
  * debian/libaccountsservice0.symbols:
- Add symbols added from patches.
  * libpam-pin.install:
- Install PAM pin support from 0014-pam-pin.patch +
  0015-pam-pin-ubuntu.patch
  * debian/patches/0001-formats-locale-property.patch:
- Addition of FormatsLocale property and SetFormatsLocale method.
  *
debian/patches/0001-Move-cache-cleanup-out-into-a-common-function-and-cl.patch:
- Move cache cleanup out into a common function and clean up icon too.
  * debian/patches/0002-create-and-manage-groups-like-on-a-ubuntu-system.patch:
- Create and manage groups like on an Ubuntu system.
  * debian/patches/0002-On-startup-clean-out-the-data-of-removed-users.patch:
- On startup, clean out the data of removed users.
  * debian/patches/0007-add-lightdm-support.patch:
- Modified from Debian version.
  * debian/patches/0008-nopasswdlogin-group.patch:
- When setting a user to have no password, also add them to the
  'nopasswdlogin' group.
  * debian/patches/0009-language-tools.patch:
- Modified from Debian version.
  * debian/patches/0010-set-language.patch:
- Save user language and regional formats settings to ~/.pam_environment.
  * debian/patches/0011-add-background-file-support.patch:
- Add support for a BackgroundFile property, similar to IconFile.
  * debian/patches/0012-add-keyboard-layout-support.patch:
- Add XKeyboardLayouts property to report a user's keyboard layouts.
  * debian/patches/0013-add-has-message-support.patch:
- Add XHasMessages property to report if a user had unread messages.
  * debian/patches/0014-pam-pin.patch:
- Add PIN module for PIN codes.
  * debian/patches/0015-pam-pin-ubuntu.patch:
- Ubuntu integration tweaks to PAM PIN module.
  * debian/patches/0016-add-input-sources-support.patch:
- Store input sources in the user object.
  * debian/patches/0020-support-login.defs.patch:
- Revert upstream patch that dropped support for using login.defs
  to determine min and max UID for system users. We still want
  that support in at least Ubuntu Touch.
  * debian/patches/0021-support-extrausers.patch:
- In addition to watching /etc/{passwd,shadow,group}, also watch those
  same files in /var/lib/extrausers/, if they exist.
