[Bug 1503602] [NEW] Eog should show an Open with... menu item in the global menu under Unity

2015-10-07 Thread Jan Rathmann
Public bug reported:

Hello,

currently Eog in Wily lacks a discoverable "Open with..." menu item
under "Image" in its menu bar when using Unity, so I propose to add it
there.

The "Open with..." functionality is currently only avaiable from the
context menu when you right click somewhere in the image, but that's not
very discoverable.

When using Eog under Ubuntu Gnome, the "Open with.." item is integrated
into the menu of the "Hamburger button" in the toolbar on the top right.

Previous versions of Eog (untill Vivid) had the ability to customize the
toolbar and add an "Edit image..." button, which I'm missing a bit, and
the "Open with..." functionality is the most viable replacement for this
at the moment, so it should not be made too hard for existing users to
discover that.

Kind regards,
Jan

[Bug 1503602] Re: Eog should show an Open with... menu item in the global menu under Unity

2015-10-07 Thread Lars Uebernickel
Thanks for reporting this bug. The way GNOME does menus has changed
quite a bit recently and as a result it is quite hard to have dynamic
menus of this kind in the global menu bar. We're working on a way to do
this in gtk, but it is too late in the cycle to land that work.

In the meantime, you can "Open With" from the context menu of the image
or from nautilus.

[Bug 574342] Re: GIMP set as default pdf viewer

This is a bug with GIMP, obviously.
The solution is to avoid GIMP setting itself as a PDF viewer: GIMP is not a
viewer.
If the user wants so, then it'd be up to her to change settings.

P.S.: I figured out correct code page for the `-O 850` option by opening

2015-10-07 Thread Lanoxx
>test case:

>question marks

Sorry for posting on this already quite long bug. I am using Ubuntu
14.04 (LTS) with all the latest updates.

This bug is still present for me. I need to explicitly pass `-O 850` to
enable codepage 850 in order to resolve it. Interestingly passing CP-850
does not work. Took me quite some time to figure this out.

Not the subtle differences in the resulting filename for the two
commands below:

ERROR:

  $unzip Gyakorlat\ hallgatói\ segédlet\ -\ 7.\ Webes\ alkalmazások\
fejlesztése.zip
Archive: Gyakorlat hallgatói segédlet - 7. Webes alkalmazások fejlesztése.zip
inflating: Gyakorlat hallgatвi segВdlet - 7. Webes alkalmazаsok
fejlesztВse.doc

WORKAROUND:

 $unzip -O 850 Gyakorlat\ hallgatói\ segédlet\ -\ 7.\ Webes\ alkalmazások\
fejlesztése.zip
Archive: Gyakorlat hallgatói segédlet - 7. Webes alkalmazások fejlesztése.zip
inflating: Gyakorlat hallgatói segédlet - 7. Webes alkalmazások
fejlesztése.doc

Question: Is this a regression or am I experiencing a different bug
unrelated to this one? If I am not mistaken then this was fixed before
Ubuntu 14.04 and so the fix should also be included in Ubuntu 14.04 or
not?

[Bug 1503718] [NEW] control-center, wacom-tablet: Calibration window is unresponsive

2015-10-07 Thread Jonathan Moerman
Public bug reported:

I am not able to calibrate my Wacom Cintiq 24HD in Ubuntu Gnome 15.10 (Beta 1,
fresh install).
When I click on calibrate the calibration window fills the screen of the Cintiq
and the circle in the middle of the screen slowly fills, the window does not
respond to any user inputs, tapping the calibration point does nothing and
alt-f4 brings up a 'Wacom-tablet' is not responding window.

This bug will always occur when trying to calibrate my Cintiq.
I have reproduced this bug 10+ times with both the nvidia binary driver and
nouveau driver.
gnome-control-center will not crash, it has a cpu usage of 0,0% according to
top and it does not give any usefull output when launched from the terminal or
gdb.

Version of:
 - gnome-control-center: 1:3.16.2ubuntu3
 - Linux: 4.2.0-14-generic x86_64
 - Xorg 1:7.7+7ubuntu4

Although this bug renders this installation useless for me I will leave
it installed for a while, in case anyone needs me to test a fix.

[Bug 1441487] Re: Running any Java program produces messages in the terminal, while rendering many Java applications broken

2015-10-07 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package jayatana - 2.7-0ubuntu3.1

---
jayatana (2.7-0ubuntu3.1) vivid; urgency=medium

  * Do not export JAVA_TOOL_OPTION session file for now. It seems jayatana
breaks some tools which are running java -version to grep for the runtime
version. Openjdk hardcode though some outputs "Picked up "
that can't be suppress and isn't willing to remove it as they see it as
a security vulnerability. Remove session variable export until java
upstream get a proper upstream solution for Gnome Shell and Unity global
menu. (LP: #1441487)
Meanwhile, people who wants to keep this functionality enabled (or
programs which knows are working well with it) can reexport
JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS="-javaagent:/usr/share/java/jayatanaag.jar
$JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS" in their session environment on a per program by
program bases.
