[Bug 574342] Re: GIMP set as default pdf viewer

2015-10-08 Thread Michael Schumacher
The previous comments (and linked bugs for e.g. Firefox) seem to
disagree - this appears to be due to wrong use of the file where every
application on a system is supposed to announce what mime types they can
handle.

[Bug 1503718] Re: control-center, wacom-tablet: Calibration window is unresponsive

2015-10-08 Thread Jonathan Moerman
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected wily

** Description changed:

I am not able to calibrate my Wacom Cintiq 24HD in Ubuntu Gnome 15.10 (Beta
1, fresh install).
When I click on calibrate the calibration window fills the screen of the
Cintiq and the circle in the middle of the screen slowly fills, the window does
not respond to any user inputs, tapping the calibration point does nothing and
alt-f4 brings up a 'Wacom-tablet' is not responding window.

This bug will always occur when trying to calibrate my Cintiq.
I have reproduced this bug 10+ times with both the nvidia binary driver and
nouveau driver.
gnome-control-center will not crash, it has a cpu usage of 0,0% according to
top and it does not give any usefull output when launched from the terminal or
gdb.

  Version of:
   - gnome-control-center: 1:3.16.2ubuntu3
   - Linux: 4.2.0-14-generic x86_64
   - Xorg 1:7.7+7ubuntu4

- Although this bug renders this installation useless for me I will leave
- it installed for a while, in case anyone needs me to test a fix.

[Bug 1503718] Re: control-center, wacom-tablet: Calibration window is unresponsive

2015-10-08 Thread Jonathan Moerman
Should have thought about the -v flag, that was a bit stupid...
This does answer why it isn't responding to my pen, but not why you cant close
the window in any normal way after it has timed out.
Ignoring the device its meant to calibrate kinda defeats the purpose.

[Bug 1504057] [NEW] Bluetooth icon should turn blue when there's traffic happening

2015-10-08 Thread Michael Zanetti
Public bug reported:

The Bluetooth icon in the panel is currently an outline icon when
Bluetooth is turned on but nothing is connected, it will turn to the
filled icon when something connects. Additionally it would be useful if
the icon would turn blue when there is actual traffic happening. This is
something I've been used to from previous phones and it helps greatly to
identify the state of the connection. For instance, the Music player
playing music to a Bluetooth headset would be immediately visible when
you've put the headset away already and forgot to stop the music player.

Also, it causes bug reports of failed connections to be more detailed as
this gives details to the developer whether the connection failed when
establishing the ACL link or if something failed after a profile has
been connected already.

[Bug 1502570] Re: gnome-panel indirectly installs evolution

2015-10-08 Thread Alkis Georgopoulos
Because then we would lose all the other recommended packages:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/wily/gnome-panel

alacarteeasy GNOME menu editing tool
evolution-data-serverevolution database backend server
gnome-appletsVarious applets for the GNOME panel - binary files
gnome-session-flashback (>= 3.14.0)GNOME Session Manager - GNOME Flashback
session
gvfsuserspace virtual filesystem - GIO module
indicator-applet-completeClone of the GNOME panel indicator applet
unity-control-centerutilities to configure the GNOME desktop

Listing those one-by-one in the `apt-get install` line of our installer
script is possible but it makes the code too much ubuntu-version
specific.

And of course other users installing gnome-panel (notably LTSP users) running
the `apt-get install` manually wouldn't be aware of this bug in order to read
it and run it with --no-install-recommends.

[Bug 1502570] Re: gnome-panel indirectly installs evolution

2015-10-08 Thread Alkis Georgopoulos
Would it be at all possible to have this in Wily?
We're thinking of installing 15.10 in some schools here instead of 14.04, and
it would make things a bit easier for us.

Thank you very much in any case.

[Bug 1071345] Re: empathy contacts list compact mode is missing in 3.6

2015-10-08 Thread Valentin Lab
@PeterBittner Do you really think I should provide a one line fix as a
patch here ? And this is problematic because what should be kept is the
option to choose the size via settings. My fix customize the source code
and create a binary package with 24px, and 24px is not an ideal size
for everyone exactly as 48px is not.

[Bug 1499711] [NEW] System stopped adjusting display settings when a new display is plugged in

2015-10-08 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Since I upgraded to wily (beta), my laptop stopped adjusting display
settings when I dock or undock it (with an external display attached to
the docking station), or even when I attached a new display directly on
the laptop.

Expected result: when I dock my laptop, the system recognizes the new
configuration and applies the corresponding display settings

Actual result: nothing happens
For example, when docked, I have the laptop main display off, and the external
monitor on. When I undock, the main display stays off, until I... (see below)

To get the setting applied, I have to either:
- open the System settings application. No need to change anything, nor to
choose Display settings, simply opening the general settings app makes it work.
- or: switch to console and back to X (ctrl+alt+F6 / Ctrl+F7)

[Bug 1504004] Re: Gnome keyring causing high disk I/O for a long time

2015-10-08 Thread Seth Arnold
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 1500039] Re: Ubuntu Phone is not getting a mobile network cell triangulation position

2015-10-08 Thread Thomas Voß
Please note that Ubuntu is only relying on the currently connected cell
to determine an estimate of the position. That estimate is quite
unreliable unfortunately, and it might very well be the that estimated
values are discarded internally for that very reason.

I will follow up with a confirmation of this hypothesis.

Please also note that applications (on purpose) have no say in whether
they receive a network- or satellite-based position. They specify a
required accuracy and the infrastructure satisfies the request if
possible.

Re: [Bug 1500039] Ubuntu Phone is not getting a mobile network celltriangulation position

2015-10-08 Thread costales
Hi :) I think because of my tests that is not working at all. If you
compare with another OS it just a few seconds to get a 'good' location, in
UT I think it is only getting a slow cached GPS position.

2015-10-08 Thread Tim
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1503656] Re: package libpam-systemd:amd64 204-5ubuntu20.15 failed to install/upgrade: package is in a very bad inconsistent state; you should reinstall it before attempting configuration

2015-10-08 Thread Martin Pitt
There are no logs here which would show what led to the bad state of
libpam-systemd, and after your dist-upgrade the package is now installed
fine, so we lost the evidence of what went wrong. You apparently used
"apt-get upgrade" before, which doesn't write any further logs (such as
the update manager), so I'm afraid there's nothing else we can do here.
Thanks!

[Bug 49348] Re: List view in Nautilus does not allow dragging a selection by mouse

2015-10-08 Thread Jens
It seems nothing is being done on this bug (or is this a duplicate and
the party is somewhere else?).

So if this cannot be considered a bug due to some formal or bureaucratic
reason, please tell us whether this has been fixed and/or implemented in
future Ubuntu releases. Rubberband selection in list views is such an
important basic operating system feature that people shake their heads
when trying Ubuntu for file management, as in "what do you mean this
doesn't work? Why not?"

If there is a big show stopper (as in, major bug in some dependant
library that nobody has figured out in eight years), please also tell
us.

Thank you!
