[Bug 1246272] Re: Keyboard layout changing randomly

2015-10-16 Thread Eloy Vallina
Also happens here in my Ubuntu Gnome 14.04 with Spanish layout. Even
though the top bar states that the keyboard layout is Spanish 1
(international), the real layout is wrong, probably en_US.

A workaround this issue is to have two favourite keyboard layouts that
will appear in the drop-down when you click on the language icon on your
top bar. In my case, I have two spanish layouts and I can easily change
from es1 to es2 and then back to es1. The keyboard configuration is now
truly es1 which what matches my hardware and I can keep working.

To add a keyboard layout in this drop-down menu just go to
System>Keyboard>Layout settings!

Hope that helps until they come up with some true solution.

For a problem this stupid I sincerely don't understand it has been here
so long.

[Bug 1506967] [NEW] display page labels in find sidebar

2015-10-16 Thread Peter Pasedach
Public bug reported:

Evince uses the page numbers of the pdf when displaying search results
in the find sidebar. If one has a document with a more complex
structure, such as different page ranges for frontmatter in roman and
mainmatter in arabic, one wants to use the page labels instead. I've
reported this to upstream,
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=756683 , and a patch has been
proposed, this patch is for the evince master branch though, and my
attempt at adapting it to 3.10.3 did not succeed.

On an updated and rebooted system, restore from trash works - the first
time. Moving the same file(s) previously restored to trash and then
trying to restore again causes the same bug.

User X must open the message history or select Y in the contact list to be able
to see the message.

*** Tested versions

Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS 64-bit with all package updates (advertised as 14.04.3).
Empathy 3.8.6 (package shipped with Ubuntu)

*** Steps to reproduce

- User X has Empathy configured on an XMPP (Jabber) server.

- Produce a dummy XML conversation log file (say 20150619.log) which contains
an Escape character (ASCII 27).
Note: the Escape character is encoded as:

In our case, this character was produced by copy-pasting text which
included escape sequences into a conversation.

- On user X's machine, copy dummy log file 20150619.log to X's Empathy
conversation log tree under ~/.local/share/TpLogger/logs , in the
subdirectory which stores conversations with Y (the directory is named
"Y@").

- In this same directory, remove the current day's log file.

- Have Y send a message to X.

On X's computer, a blue envelope icon shows in the notification area
(top right of the screen).

- X clicks on the blue envelope.
This opens a menu.

- In this menu, under "Empathy", X clicks on Y's name.

*** Expected result

A window opens with Y's message plus any earlier messages.

*** Actual result

Nothing happens. No window opens.
In other cases, the window opens with any earlier messages from Y, but not the
message just sent.

*** Tested workarounds

1. Immediate workaround

The missing message can be found by looking at the conversation log in
Empathy or by clicking on Y's name in the contact list.

2. Long-term workaround

By using "xmllint" on the whole ~/.local/share/TpLogger/logs directory tree,
the file(s) in error can be found.
Then they can be either removed or fixed with "xmllint -recover". The latter
method invoves the use of a temporary file because the command does not work in
place.

As soon as another message with an incorrect character is received,
however, the workaround must be performed again.

*** Impact and comments

Inexperienced users having this defect may miss (potentially many) chat
messages.
This is to be balanced with the frequency of the error, i.e. the frequency of
its trigger.
It is quite possible that the error is not limited to the escape character but
present with any syntax error in the XML conversation logs.
Also, the error is probably not limited to XMPP servers either.

[Bug 1415029] Re: Not yet available but configured providers should be added as soon as they become available

2015-10-16 Thread Thomas Voß
Okay, finally found time to revisit my previous patch. I think we should
load providers asynchronously on service startup. With that, configured
providers are just hints to the underlying machinery, and
loading/announcement of providers ready for consumption is executed on a
different thread.

[Bug 1503844] Re: ubuntu-location-serviced crashed with SIGSEGV in com::ubuntu::location::providers::gps::android::HardwareAbstractionLayer::Impl::Impl()

2015-10-16 Thread Thomas Voß
Caused by a race with the android container/the underlying gps chipset
driver. We have been experiencing the issue on and off for the last
months. The location-service or the GPS provider implementation can
hardly do anything about the underlying issue, so I'm removing location-
service from being affected. Instead, we should start tracking down the
issue in the context of platform-api/libhybris.

[Bug 1492783] Re: GPS does not work on my Bq E5

2015-10-16 Thread Thomas Voß
A few things to note:
[1.] SensorStatus app is not able to determine whether a location was obtained
by the GPS or by a network-based positioning method.
[2.] The missing espoo.log indicates that the Nokia Here provider carrying out
network-based positioning is not installed/activated.
[3.] The following lines in the ERROR log:

  E0904 10:17:10.653188 3704
android_hardware_abstraction_layer.cpp:157] Error downloading GPS Xtra
data: Timeout was reached: Operation timed out after 1499 milliseconds
with 84941 out of 276480 bytes received

Indicate an issue with the current data connection. The gps chipset
driver is trying to download an assistance file for speeding up GPS-
based fixes. It fails to do so and with that, the chipset falls back to
a cold-start scenario, with the gps querying ephimeris and almanac
information from satellites. The respective download can take a long
time (usually ~20 minutes) but depends on satellite visibility and on
the phone not being suspended obviously.

Could you please paste the output of "ps -ef | grep location" to
complete the debug information?

just updated and still can't connect with RDC from win7 to Ubuntu.

I noticed the "Fix Released" for Vivid but I don't know how to use it other

[Bug 1299604] Re: evolution keeps asking for password

2015-10-16 Thread João C . Fernandes
Hi,

I am able to reproduce this with accounts added directly to evolution.

I have 3 email accounts on evolution 2 of them were added using the
Online accounts assistant those work correctly (Gmail, and Office 365).
These work correctly.

Nonetheless, if I add an account directly through Evolution for Exchange
the email account will work correctly, but after a restart of evolution
whenever I press the "Super" key , the prompt for the password of the
Exchange account is presented when I am sure it is correct.

[Bug 1501250] Re: double clicking on a URL drops the protocol from the URL

2015-10-16 Thread Jamie Strandboge
This is a quite annoying bug for gnome-terminal users. I strongly
suggest Ubuntu distro patches so that highlighting URLs works again. If
this can't be done in time, we should have a release note with
instructions on how users can fix it themselves.
