[Bug 1511292] Re: Online address book can't be set up due to keyring request

2015-10-30 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1511626] Re: gvfsd-smb crashed with signal 5 in g_settings_set_property()

2015-10-30 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thanks, the error suggests the gsettings schemas are not correctly
installed, which is weird. What does "dpkg -S org.gnome.system.smb"
return? does the file listed there exist on disk?

[Bug 761781] Re: Gedit takes many minutes to start if there are many files in directory

2015-10-30 Thread JohnWashington
Hello Michael, thank you, perhaps I should be pleased that someone has
responded to my report.

However, frankly my overwhelming reaction is that this is far too
typical of how Ubuntu reports are handled. It goes like this:

* a report is filed.
* nothing is done about it, zip, nada, rien, not even a response.
* FOUR AND A HALF YEARS OF SILENCE
* "Hi, we're looking at your detailed report but we haven't made the slightest
attempt to reproduce it"
* 60 days pass
* bug is closed, devs congratulate themselves on closing many bugs

Is this really the best we can do to get the community enthused and
helping one another?

[Bug 1511914] [NEW] Crash on edit with external editor, results in corrupt image database entry

2015-10-30 Thread Janne Moren
Public bug reported:

Select "edit with external editor". The image opens in Gimp, but
Shotwell crashes. Save the image, open shotwell (order doesn't matter).

* The image thumbnail doesn't change proportions to the edited image,
resulting in squashed image. And rotated images lose their rotation
information on screen. The underlying edited image is unaffected. This
happens only with images edited with the crash above; previous images
are fine.

* I am unable to permanently change associated data such as the
grade/stars. Once I quite Shotwell those changes are gone. Again, this
affects only images edited as above.

* This happened with the update to Wily Werewolf. Previous Shotwell
version was fine.

** Affects: shotwell (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1511900] [NEW] Preferences dialog missing in Gedit

2015-10-30 Thread Cerin
Public bug reported:

The Edit->Preferences dialog is no longer accessible by default.

I managed to re-enable it following the hack outlined at
http://askubuntu.com/questions/375049/where-are-gedits-preferences by
running:

gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.xsettings overrides

However, by default, Gedit no longer seems to expose its preferences
dialog, which makes Gedit far less convenient to use. Please re-enable

[Bug 1511905] [NEW] rhythmbox freezes on start of song

2015-10-30 Thread frEEk
Public bug reported:

About 1s after starting a new song, rhythmbox uses 100% CPU (single
core) and the UI freezes. Music continues to play fine. Thaws our after
about one minute and interactions with GUI work fine until a new file is
selected or starts automatically. Keyboard audio keys don't do anything
during the freeze.

This behaviour started out of the blue. Only suspect package that
updated before it started is libaudiofile1, but I backdated that and the
problem still occurred.

Tried an strace but the machine froze. ltrace showed nothing obvious (to
a non-linux dev like me anyway).

Playing files with Totem did not show this issue. Neither did SMPlayer

Ubuntu 14.04
Rhythmbox 3.0.2
amd64 binaries
Tested with MP3 files only

** Affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Description changed:

+
+ Playing files with Totem did not show this issue. Neither did SMPlayer
+
+ Ubuntu 14.04
+ Rhythmbox 3.0.2
+ amd64 binaries
+ Tested with MP3 files only

[Bug 1488344] Re: dbus rejected send messages

2015-10-30 Thread Lars Uebernickel
Indeed, accountsservice sends a reply even when the client talking to it
doesn't want one. The dbus daemon doesn't remember messages that have
NO_REPLY_EXPECTED set, so the replies from accountsservice look like
unsolicited messages to it and it denies them.

Gnome bug #755421 argues that this should be fixed in gdbus, and I
agree. gdbus automatically sets NO_REPLY_EXPECTED when no callback is
given, so it makes sense that it also handles the server side by
discarding replies for such messages. I've attached a patch upstream.

[Bug 1314556] Re: Unable to mount Android MTP device

2015-10-30 Thread Silviu C.
What I can say is that it never worked for me on Trusty with the 3.13 kernels
and continues to not work with the mainline 4.2.5 kernel.

Which USB port I plug it in does also not matter. Tried USB 3.0 ports on the
back and two of the USB 2.0 ones. No dice. Same for the ones on the front of my
machine.

Luckily this thing can change to a mass storage device, but it's still a weird
and annoying issue.

[Bug 1314556] Re: Unable to mount Android MTP device

2015-10-30 Thread Roger James
Just a quick comment. I know this was mentioned before (#46) but it
would be a good idea if everyone checked this behaviour with phone in
both locked and unlocked states _before_ it is plugged into the USB.

[Bug 1469221] Re: Move to webkit2gtk in main

2015-10-30 Thread Steve Langasek
The devhelp package in main has just dropped the delta to use webkitgtk
instead of webkit2gtk:

  https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/devhelp/3.18.1-1ubuntu1

Laney, what's the status of this bug? Is this transition moving forward
for xenial? Do we need an MIR for webkit2gtk or just a committment to
remove webkitgtk from main in favor of w2g? Should we pre-promote
webkit2gtk to main to unblock things like devhelp, and mark this a
critical bug against webkitgtk?

[Bug 854833] Re: NM asks for Wi-Fi password every time I log in, or every minute, if "Available to all users" not checked; forgets password too

2015-10-30 Thread Romano Giannetti
New installation of 14.04.3, still happens. It happens only for
enterprise-type connection (my university and eduroam, both WPA). The
WPA personal connections (where you do not have to put an username) are
ok, remembered and automatically started.
